Kaleiopuu Elementary School was one of eighteen schools in the State that received the Hawaii Distinguished Schools Award for continuous student achievement growth this year. The school has made many improvements since the arrival of new principal a few years ago. I'm very impressed with the principal who works very closely with the faculty and staff. He has a great vision and plans to ensure every student has a safe and nurturing environment for their academic and physical growth. He also works closely with community leaders to gain much needed funding for school improvements and programs. The principal has an open door policy to reach out to parents community that makes it easy to talk to him about any questions and concerns, and faculty members and staff are readily available for you as well. Teachers are working very hard to implement new state's core standards to bring every students up to proficiency level. I believe that having a good communication line with teachers are key to success for children's growth and am glad that I have good relationship with my children's teachers.

Great school, but limited funding and could use air-conditioning instead of fans which just blow hot air around.
