St Louis School

Saint Louis School does well to cultivate the whole student. It offers its students opportunities to rise above their peers and become engaged with the school's culture and history.

In regards to homework:
Homework policy is largely consistent. There is no + or -'s, making grades easier to communicate. Late work is accepted and often docked points, but this of course depends on the teacher.

In regards to classes:
Saint Louis offers more arts and electives than when I entered. The system is currently being reworked, but I can say that it is comprehensive and appealing to a large number of students. My only complaint in this regard is the compulsory religion courses every year. While it assists in cultivating good character, it makes it harder to balance advanced classes.

In regards to teachers:
My experience has been good overall. I can't speak as to middle school teachers nor elementary teachers, but the main (math, english, science) teachers are exemplary. They are well-seasoned and well suited to working at a boys school. They know how to get students to get their work done and help students keep up.

In regards to leadership:
As a student, I have little exposure to the bureaucracy behind the scenes. In my experience, the administration takes the sides of parents and students, removing or improving poorly-performing teachers, few that they are. The current president has lifted the school from dire straits monetarily, and has spearheaded new construction and the addition of new courses. I would argue that in 2020 Saint Louis is still on the rise.

In regards to character:
Saint Louis is known to develop good character in its students, and in my eyes it does its best to do so. It has developed plans and strategies to comprehensively improve its students. In practice, it differs by each students character. *student's interactions with females are often awkward at best. Improvement needed in this regard.*

In regards to learning differences:
I have not experienced nor have enough information to evaluate Saint Louis in this regard.

In regards to bullying (and school culture):
There is little to no bullying in my experience. There is some teasing, but students readily build each other up as opposed to bringing each other down. This contributes to a positive and collaborative school environment. Another factor is the school's strong performance in sports and extracurriculars such as football, wrestling, theater, and robotics
