Overall, the school had a good run. However, with the way things are, the school's foreseeable future is uncertain.

Due to the numerous changes in administration over the years, the only word I have to describe the administration is TURBULENT. Recently, the majority of the administration are comprised of OUTSIDERS who do not completely grasp and understand the culture at Damien. I have attended this school for a long time and it breaks my heart to see the Old Damien die off because of administration. The new president is responsible for the "New Damien". This "New Damien" is not the place I would personally send my child to school and I personally believe you can get your money's worth at a completely different school. DO NOT waste your time with this school's administration.

As an alumni that had honors and AP classes, some homework days where completely unbearable. You could be misfortunate to have back to back tests. However, compared to other other private schools, it is a more lenient experience. In the middle school, homework is bearable. The homework usually builds up in the upperclassmen years.

Some teachers here were meh. Some absolutely have made an impact to my education and taught me valuable life lessons. Most are overall friendly and accommodating.

My grade for Damien is a "D" overall. If you are looking to send your child to a Catholic school, send them elsewhere. This school does not foster a CATHOLIC education. Mass is an "option" on some days, when administration should incorporate it into the days schedule. Read their mission statement and you will see the Catholic aspect is secondary. In addition, athletic coaches, to include "helping spouses", are rude and disrespectful with parents. The attendance office admin is cold and dismissive to students and parents. School grounds are in dire need of repair and maintenance. With the amount of tuition charged for this school, your expectations are higher, but this school falls short. As a product of a Catholic school eduction (elementary through college), I can say I an extremely disappointed in Damien.

Homework is adequate compared to other schools.

Some teachers do not respond to emails in a reasonable amount of time. On the same issue: some teachers will respond to emails the same day and some will not respond for DAYS. Very little communication coming from teachers overall.

Leadership starts with the first people you encounter at the school - administration. There have been improvements to the school grounds such as a new parking lot that has improved the safety for the students.

Bullying comes from Athletic coaches who tell parents if they complain about their kids play time, then their child will be kicked off the team. Administration turns a blind eye.

my child was assigned at LEAST 3 hours of homework a night and it was all stuff they already did in class

my child was bullied at Damien memorial school simply for being white and smart. she told the counselors and they did nothing about it. i had to bring it up to the councilors myself and still nothing happened.

i would not recommend this school for others. my child was so overwhelmed. they came home and cried every night. because there was so much homework there seemed to be time for nothing else like sports or other extra curriculars. there also seemed to be limited sports for the girls. they did nothing about the bullying and it was just a horrible environment.

Actually, this year, 2012, Damien went coed! As a female student in high school, I love this school so much. Teachers are wonderful and always willing to help, classes are good sizes, and most of the students I am surrounded with daily are kind and mature! Love this school!
