I had two boys go through this HMA-Windward, we reluctantly switched from a highly-rated public school due to constant behavior/discipline/teacher issues. While no school is "perfect" I felt all the teachers at HMA really cared about the students and my older son's behavior greatly improved in the nurturing environment and he was more challenged in classwork and enjoyed the lunch/recess structure much better. My younger son (they are opposites) had teachers who worked with him, he got after school tutoring with a friend (which they enjoyed doing together), they kept him working on his grade level until he "blossomed" in high school and became a more motivated student. Both boys wanted to go on to the high school and both went on to college & have grown into fine young men - I give the school a lot of credit.

HMA-Windward is a great school for you pre-schooler or 1-3 grader. From fourth grade and up the quality of education drops off drastically. PE is a joke. Be prepared for alot of substitute teachers in the higher grades as the teachers are rarely there.

Great School! My daughter is in the Kindergarten, and she loves her teacher (Mrs. Akins), and the whole staff is sooo caring. My daughter has learned alot since the start of the school year. I recommend this school to anyone thinking about enrolling their children in this school.

Hawaiian Mission Academy Windward is a great shool with quality teachers who truly care about each individual student. My Son has attended for 5 years. He loves going to school and it is always a positive environment. Mr. Lane is a great principal and teacher. Uilani Bannister is on of the most gifted teachers I've ever seen. Supervision has not been a problem. The problem was addressed and fixed.

It is now called Hawaiian Mission Academy Windward. I was so disappointed about having to withdraw my child after one year. I liked the teachers, the small classes, strong Christian education and music program. The lack of attention to supervision was not seriously addressed by administration in 2010, leaving safety concerns. I wish that was not the case so my child could have remained.
