horrible school, low academics, low drive/student connectedness; even though kapolei apparently tries their best with connecting us!
overall not a school to look into; theres way better options at less, go to a different district. the academies arent okay - but some teachers across all of them and the counselors arent helpful. specifically phsa. early college offered here is okay but its a small office and takes such a long time to process anything
Kapolei NEEDS to work on organization and staff; there is a shortage and thats why im doing education to hopefully bring another teacher onboard here or other schools for the students!
Kapolei does not offer much support systems for us and are never followed up upon. Im not sure how much more surveys I will need to do during the school years to see ANY change

Traumatizing, that is unfortunately all. All I have to describe this school because of the lack of thought into students and clearly no intentions to try to get better.

Most teachers are trying really hard, and really care about student success. The class sizes are really big - one teacher usually has 30 students, and the SpEd assistant helps out with particular students most of the time. But most students want to be successful, and the vast majority of the staff work hard to help them. But when every teacher sees 150-180 students, the handful of bad apples quickly color the experience for everyone. The project-based-learning concept works in some places, but this school is still tied to the district requirements that undermine that system. They have to teach certain traditional classes, which means they can't work in teams to create really useful and interesting multi-disciplinary projects. So most staff and students here are wonderful and trying really hard, but are being undermined by a rigid district system and the administration not dealing effectively with the few trouble makers.

In general I think character is a major goal of this school. The exception is the security staff, who tend to be too ready to say "boys will be boys" in cases of bullying and fighting, which undermines the lessons the rest of the staff try to teach.

Admin officers seem ready to bend over backwards for parents who make a lot of noise, but are not so ready to help students in need if their parents don't make a stink. This leads to very unequal access at times, as several staff members must attend to every whim of one family while ignoring several others.

I too went to Kapolei High School previously, but moved to a private school. I really loved KHS and miss everything about it. The teachers there are so caring and really make classes fun. There are a lot of students, but that just teaches you to be responsible and accountable for your own learning. KHS is a great school! There's so many electives and clubs someone can choose from. There's something there for everyone. Being at a private school, I feel Kapolei Really prepared me. Private school isn't much different from Kapolei. In fact, it's almost easier. I'd recommend Business Academy for Juniors and Seniors. It'd be the best decision they can make!

I went to Kapolei High school before,but now I attend a private school. I really miss Kapolei High school,the teachers there are really nice and make teaching fun. Its not so difficult and stress working there where it is where I now attend school. All the students all are generally good and really funny.Being a big school,you can find all kinds of people to some of the kindest people I've ever met. I really miss my time at KHS.I hope that you will consider KHS. Because it really is a good fun school.
