Kaelepulu Elementary School

Kaelepulu is such a great school. It is very small which allows for close cultivated relationships with each other and the families. We have always had amazing teachers. The kids are taught to love and respect each other and you can see that in their behaviors. Kaelepulu has not only taught subject matter but also how to be kind and respectful humans. They assist in connecting the kids to nature through gardening. We will miss this school so much. The staffs love for the kids shines through.

Please keep in mind majority of negative reviews for Kaelepulu are related to the frustration of parents who don't qualify to enroll their children at Kaelepulu due to the residential address. Many parents give Kaelepulu school office a false address for keiki (fo Aunite, Uncle, Tutu, Papa, friend etc) to Kaelepulu school in hopes of the school being none the wiser and their child is enrolled. Kaelepulu is known as the public school that with a private school environment and culture. Kaelepulu is much safer environment than most Hawaii public schools.

Unfortunately, bullying and ignorance is part of Hawaii's embedded culture. It is jus da kine way.

This school is the #1 school in the whole STATE of Hawai'i and is a national Blue Ribbon school. They only have one class per grade. The principal works so hard for the kids and really cares. They are too small to get funding for PE, Music and Art so the teachers and parents have to raise the money for those programs which is hard. They manage to do it because it is a strong community. What a great school!

I simply love Kaelepulu School. After much debate my husband and I decided to go with Kaelelpulu over private school. We are thrilled with the academics and simply love all the teachers and staff. We are such a small school, everyone knows one another and the parents really come through for the fundraisers for music, art and PE. The teachers care so much for the kids and go above and beyond helping each one. I would definitely recommend Kaelepulu to any incoming students.

They provide only minimal Special Ed services. One person for the whole school. So if your child has speech, writing, or physical issues they just might do what they did to me and ask you to go to another school. Way to go Kaelepulu! Thats a great way to keep your scores up- just get rid of everyone on the bottom.
