My son is a bit of a Dennis the Menace. Does some things without thinking and gets in trouble. The school works with him to have ownership when he does that. He feels welcomed even though he's a bit of an oddball. He's always looking forward to going to school and frankly for Middle School isn't that the biggest struggle. He's thriving with his writing. I look forward to them having a high school.

My son is in his 3rd year at SEEQS and the school has been great in enhancing his ability to feel very comfortable to speak in a public setting. The sustainable based education has given him a great appreciation of our planet and how he can be a steward to earth's future. Wish sports were offered but that is not really an option in public middle schools. SEEQS does offer numerous opportunities to go and learn outdoors and have physical activity.

I am a progressive educator and school leader with nearly three decades of experience. I know the public, private, and charter schools in this state (and in many other states) inside and out having taught on the continent, internationally, and locally. SEEQS was our first choice for middle school and we have not been disappointed (our daughter is in her eighth grade year). This school approaches education the correct way and really delivers on what they promise and promote. Challenges with charter schools abound, and no school or teaching staff is perfect. But SEEQS provides the right kind of teaching, learning and community experience for families that really want to make sure they kids are being both prepared and nurtured. Unlike most every other middle or "intermediate" school that claims "rigor" through the school we all experienced as kids, SEEQS bases their approach on real research on teaching, learning, and neuroscience. While the sheep flock to fancy schools to put stickers on their cars, those who are actually up to date on the science of education send their kids to SEEQS.

Our son thrived in SEEQS unique environment of providing Content with Context. SEEQS provided our son with an excellent education and much more. It helped him to realize his own capabilities that other conventional schools mostly ignore. Not only did the project based courses help keep him engaged as a tween, the academic courses prepared him well for an elite private high school and an exceptional university. Our only regret was that SEEQS was not able to start a high school in time for our son to attend.

SEEQS spends an enormous amount of time teaching about social justice issues and very little on academics. I support their core beliefs but not at the expense of my child's education. His reading and comprehension has gone from age appropriate in 5th grade at his elementary school to still a 5th grade level in 7th grade this year at SEEQS. The question is, where would a child go from here? We're not sure where we will have him enrolled next year but it won't be SEEQS. They seem to have other issues here but I can't confirm if any are true so will leave it at that. The administration touts a bully-free zone but does nothing when it occurs. We have discovered incidents are handled internally without informing parents so much goes on without our knowledge. Incidents that would be reported at any other school are kept private here.

My son came from an elementary school with a nurturing staff, involved parents and a modern teaching style. I was hoping for the same in middle school with SEEQS, but instead, we have recently discovered he has been involved in drug use DURING and after school. SEEQS is small enough that this should have never happened. This is every parent's nightmare. Apparently, it's a common issue at SEEQS.

SEEQS is a great school. My son attended 6-8th and my daughter 6-7. She would have gone to 8th but we moved from Hawaii. (Terrible life choice I know).

The format of project based learning allowed both my kids to excell.

The school really gets kids involved in learning in creating and effective ways.

The teachers and admin are are committed, patient, and caring.

I highly recommend this school!

Great school, with very knowledgeable and progressive board and leaders. Great faculty that understands the educational philosophy of the school. No old-time DOE teachers waiting to retire here. I'm extremely happy with how my son loves school and all his subjects. He wasn't that way before.
