way too chatotic the hallways always closing and its too rough and they should make smaller classes for certain ppl and keep asking if everything is ok to some ppl bc some ppl can hide their feelings and its hard to tell so you should know what they are truly going through honestly otherwise the teachers and etc are cool and teachers going around to certain students who need help with school work or mental health from therapists or close staff members from expereince of knowing the students and how they act

The High School level classes were almost emotionally abusive. In spite of multiple attempts on behalf of my child by ourselves, her therapist, and her psychologist, the school refused even basic accommodations, preferring to force her into a system designed for physically hostile teens, not ones with bipolar mental health issues. Additionally, I found the educational content of the classes sub-par.

Overall, the teachers are excellent. The elementary students seem happy and the staff truly care. It is a great place for special needs elementary students.
The high school, though overall there is a strong attempt to be enjoyable, has its flaws. Many of the teachers are passionate about teaching and care about the students well being, and make do with what resources they have to teach. A few, though, bring the whole experience down. They have gone from a good mood one period to lambasting students for their political views the next, they have shut down active attempts by other teachers to teach engagingly for the sake of The Program, and they have enforced consequences upon well behaving students for the pettiest of things while other get away with screaming, throwing fits, refusing to do schoolwork, or even refusing to show up for weeks on end. My child has struggled more at this school than they have at public school, both dragged back educationally by the high emphasis on The Program and little to none on real education, and constantly frustrated by pointless punishments that ultimately change no real negative behavior for the sake of equal restoration across the board, regardless if it is reasonable. Genuine peer interaction is not allowed, as all conversations are heavily monitored and screened.
Overall, if you plan on sending your child to a special needs school for actual learning disability, this is a spectacular place. However carefully consider the social needs as well as educational needs of your child, as if they require actual stimulation, interaction with peers, and real work to do, this is not the place. Students with severe behavioral needs in high school should be sent to a school such as Allendale or Cyd Lash, as these places may help better with correction.
Again, the teachers who try their best to give students a good experience should be recognized and awarded.

This school is awful. I sit in a cramped room all day while doing pointless busywork that wont give any credits to my grade because they love giving us busywork instead of making actual progress. There are way too many rules, which are supposed to keep us safe, but that truly just stifle social activities. They banned SARCASM from my classroom! I was way more productive when I was doing school online. If your child is struggling, send them somewhere else!

My son was really struggling at his public school. Coming to Connections made a real difference for him. The staff are impressively vested in the kids.
