My son was bullied and sent to lunch detention all the time and these teachers dont even care about their behavior. Because they would always bring my son into fights and bully him nd snitch on him and suspend him for no absolute reason. This school gave him mental anxiety and stress. Do not send your kids here ever. They will get destroyed by this atmosphere.

Grayslake Middle School is a wonderful school across the board. Teachers are knowledgeable, kind and caring to the students. They have a passion for teaching and it shows. My children have had a great experience here and I was a former student here decades back as well. Not only did they feel safe and comfortable with their teachers, staff and other students but they have learned an exceptional amount that have now prepared them for high-school. The coarse load is wonderful and they have so many programs and ways for students to get involved and discover their passions. The teachers take their time and apply various methods of teaching which is wonderful as not everyone learns the same. Communication from the school is exceptional as well. All in all a wonderful school.

dis gotta be one of the worst schools you can go to. Do your kids a favor and dont send em here

There are one or two really good teachers. Otherwise, it's simply a place kids need to endure before moving on. If you can live anywhere else, do so for your kids sake.

Some are outright negligent in their approach to students and student learning.

Bullying often goes unabated. Teachers pretend ignorance of how students are treated right before their eyes, and as a result, students are largely unconcerned. Sure, the walls are plastered with anti-bullying posters, but the halls are filled with students who are unhappy and poorly treated with no avenues for help.

GMS is a cesspool of mediocrity from the top down. The entire administration, most especially the principal, needs to go before any progress is made in terms of replacing teachers that consistently over many, many years receive terrible reviews from students and parents. GMS seems to be where bad teachers are sent to pasture, and they stay forever.

Great overall school. They could have more extra curricullar activities and figure a better way to integrate Health classes that do not impact the PE schedule.

We did not experience bullying, so I don't know.

I was hesitant about this school after seeing it only got a 7/10 but I could not be more impressed with with the way the school is run and how well they are preparing the students after my daughter started to attend. It really should be ranked 10/10! The level of communication and transparency from the principal, vice principal and staff far surpassed all the other Grayslake schools my daughter attended since kindergarten, which were already very good.
Unfortunately, we moved mid year and my daughter started to attend a middle school that is ranked #24 out of 1966 schools in our new state. She's had no problems adapting academically and felt the math at new school was nice because it was a bit of a review of what she was doing a couple months ago!
To the staff of GMS: Thank you!

Average property tax for grayslake district 46 on a $220000 home is $10108. For that tax rate the school should have a much better rating. I am surprised the residents of grayslake are satisfied with paying one of the highest tax rates in the nation and a middle school with a rating of 6.

Excellent school. Every issue that has come up for my child has been handled with empathy and speed. Emails and calls are returned quickly. The staff is generally outstanding in both handling issues that may come up and in academics, encouraging my child to do well. The only reason I have not given five stars is that they divide the students into three teams that have no interaction with each other, and has unfortunately impacted my child by dispersing existing friends.
