I've had limited exposure to other peoples children, but from what I have seen, students are kind to each other.

My student has experienced bullying elsewhere, and I haven't heard anything about bullying here.

We moved to Prairie Trail from the private school down the road. I wish we had done it sooner. I see a lot of best practices in place at Prairie Trail, as well as consistency, small supportive classes, and supported seasoned teachers. The facility is modern, well kept and organized. Students receive personal attention and are known and liked by the adults who they are spending the day with. I see my students succeeding and growing academically and socially. Everyone I have encountered at D56 is pleasant and willing to try to help, in a way that tells me the culture for the staff and teachers is supportive and positive, and the students are receiving what they need to succeed in a positive environment. I would also suggest taking test scores with a grain of salt. A number of variables that are not relevant can drag a schools score down. Likewise high scores can come at unnecessary expense to the children. This is a high quality school.

Incomplete class work is sometimes sent home if the student needs addition exposure. We generally do not see homework.

Many of these ratings are not an accurate representation of Prairie Trail. I have two children who attend the school one in the accelerated program and one who receives support services. The staff at Prairie Trail fosters a positive environment that allows each student to achieve personal success and growth. Students are given individual attention and gently led to develop the academic and social skills that they will need as they continue their educational experiences.

OUR CHILDREN ARE NOT SAFE AT PRARIE TRAIL SCHOOL! While the school does try to promote integrity, compassion and respect, many students don't seem to take this serious. There are numerous fist fights throughout the school year, that mainly happen on the school's playground and bus. The people that get hired to care for the students on the playground don't care about the health or safety of any of the students. My kids have come home more than a few times to share horrifying stories that happened on the playground and bus that have left some of their friends bloody or bruised. Sadly, students can't go to these adults when they're scared or need help because they simply have no regard to their concerns- social media and phone time seems to be most important. The busses have cameras and the staff still hasn't been able to control bad students on the bus- this is a safety concern! This school does not take bullying seriously and often reply with stuff like, "it's inevitable and will happen". While things like this might happen, it's up to the school staff to determine what needs to be changed and clearly, this is where they're lacking. Students should be able to obtain fun, loving knowledge in a school that they love attending without feeling scared or worried about their mean, uncontrollable peers. PLEASE TALK TO YOUR CHILDREN EVERYDAY, YOU WILL LIKELY FIND OUT SOMETHING NEW AND DISTURBING :(

The kids have homework every week. They get used to this cycle. I have a child in travel soccer so I requested if he could get his home work on the Friday before instead of Monday. Teacher flexible to this to take the stress off him.

Every teacher my kids have had in their 3 years at this school has been passionate about my child's acedemic and emotional success. The gifted teacher is awesome. So engaging with the kids. The Principal is very approachable.
The school is a very nice facility.

Transferred here from Waukegan schools and the difference between districts is astonishing! My daughter is finally getting the tutoring help and attention she needs at Prairie Trail. I have attended many school functions and the behavior system is fantastic! The after school clubs have made a huge difference for my daughter, she loves going to school now. We love district 56!

There are only Ipads. Which teaches them to be on Ipad all day. They still need to learn to write with Pencil but they dont think its necessary

I had to withdraw my child from this school. It is terrible. There are Fist fights in the classroom, screaming and children out of control. I can write these things as I have witnessed it myself. I decided to start volunteering in the school once my child came home telling me all these horrible things going on. So I have witnessed children running and screaming in the hallways while teachers do nothing, Students talking back to teachers and teachers do nothing, Students doing things in the classroom after teachers have asked them to stop over and over. I never see anything done. My child was bullied and even hit by another student. I was never contacted by the school I only knew these things happened after my child came home. When I contacted the school the responses I received back were along the lines of: Sorry this happened but there is NO guarantee it wont happen again. They also wouldnt tell me if anything was said to the student or if they called the parents. Which I dont think happened. The bus was just as terrible. I feel that the teachers are on the Young side and are afraid of the students. If at all possible I would send a child to any other school then Spaulding, Praire Trail and Viking. They dont seem to take Bullying seriously

Prairie Trail is a beautiful new school with very dedicated teachers and uncomparable technology! Every student has an ipad that they do their work on and bring it home for homework.
