My child told me how a teacher quickly stepped in to stop a bully at the school. I was happy to hear that.

It is clear that the principal has no control over the teaching in the school. I get a lot of lip service from the staff, but it is clear that no effective teaching is going on in this school. I don't like to speculate, but it appears that the principal does not want to address these issues head on. She is not a very strong leader. Strong leadership sometimes requires an individual to make unpopular decisions. It would be nice if the principal would stop trying to please everyone and start putting the children first.

This school promotes inclusion. I have witnessed staff in the room working closely with students who have disabilities.

I believe they do try to promote character, integrity, compassion and respect at the school.

It is October 6, 2017, and I have yet to see a quality homework assignment come home. The only homework my child has is to read 20 minutes a day. That's it? The math homework isn't much better. My child is only given a math handout twice a week. My child is bored doing addition and subtraction problems. I am teaching my child how to multiply. It shouldn't be this way.

No one challenges my child. They don't know how to differentiate their instruction. It appears as though all children are treated the same way when it comes to their learning. This is very wrong considering children process at different speeds.

The school is clean and clearly has an open door policy. They are very parent friendly, but that's where the strengths end. Once the doors close and the parents leave, the problems occur. The teaching is ineffective. The teachers are not differentiating their instruction to facilitate a quality educational experience for all learners. Although the students are grouped to promote cooperative learning, it is clear that students are not given the opportunities to excel to an advanced level. This is wrong and crippling to the students who can do better. The writing program is either very weak, or it is not being implemented properly. Perhaps more professional development is needed. It is unfortunate, however, that our children have to suffer by not having quality writing instruction. Fortunately, I am teaching my child how to write summaries and essays. I am also teaching my child grammar, civics, and geography. I also supplement my child's reading and math. It is clear that the school relies heavily on the parents to do the teaching. My son will excel, but it won't be because of the teachers and staff at Everett.

Everett Elementary is a fantastic school. The teachers enjoy what they do, are motivated, strive for continual self improvement as well as school/community improvement. Parents are always welcome and are encouraged to participate in their child's education and development. The principal sets a tone of excellence for the school, is caring and approachable. She is a strong leader and respected by the children, teachers and community. Everett is not only strong academically but is strong developing the character of each child as well as fostering each child's strengths.

Everett is a wonderful neighborhood school with fantastic teachers and a warm feeling. The teachers really care about the children and go the extra mile to help each one become successful. The students are well prepared for the middle school and beyond. A loving, nurturing place!

We are so lucky to have a new Principal who is open to parent concerns and knows all the kids in the building. The teachers are amazing and my daughter is very happy at Everett School.
