Amazing staff that truly care about students! Diverse and high-achieving student population with shifting policies and supports for the students in the building. Loved the arts program - phenomenal choir and theater productions, especially the annual Variety Show. Loved my time here!

I was in some of the special education (SPED) classes. The school was supposed to support SPED, but the program was a joke and didnt teach me much. It felt like the school didnt care about SPED at all. Because I had dyslexia, they put me in very low-level classes that didnt match my actual abilities. If you werent in SPED, your education was perfectly adequatebut for students like me, it wasnt.

I think this school is great. In my experience, the teachers have all been really welcoming and supportive, and the staff is really friendly. I do have to mention that I have an IEP, and that it isnt as bad as a lot of these reviews say. Yes, getting support takes a decent amount of effort, but its not too much if you really do need help. Overall, very good school. Theres more diversity than I ever expected from a school in the suburbs, the student body is really welcoming, and its just a really nice atmosphere. Definitely recommend.

My son is a senior in this High School and has had nothing but positive things to say about his experiences.
His English is not great and he was able to receive additional classes and support needed to get him to catch up with the regular students.
He has made multiple friends from various nationalities and has significantly broadened his knowledge and experiences.
Also, the faculty has been tremendously receptive and responsive to his needs.
So I significantly disagree with the negative reviews and and highly recommend this school to any parents in the area.

Glenbrook schools are wonderful for above average students. If you child has an IEP, be prepared to fight hard to get him/her services. For those above average students, homework is busy work that takes up most of your life. Sports and clubs will take up the rest of your life. My child wanted to do stage crew. The students work at the theater often until after 10 p.m. on school nights. Bullying is terrible (which the theater teacher participates in). The former head of the theater program is the father of the current head and his mother is head of the junior high theater. For all the taxes Glenview households pay, this school should be better and pick staff not out of favoritism but because they are talented.

Both my kids loved their experience at GBS. The student body embraces all aspects of school spirit and the teachers are amazing.

My experience was excellent. As a student and later as a staff member. I woudn't trade those years or experiences for anything!

I mostly agree, but it's not what it was. In the past, Glenbrook had master, professional teachers. They have all been replaced with inexperienced, overly-extroverted younguns who are more interested in being kids' friends.

While I was at GBS, Brian Wegley and Jim Shellard did a great job leading the school.

Though I myself was never in any special education courses, my sister was. I know that her case manager and teachers worked hard to help her succeed. GBS also has a variety of placements to help accommodate each student's specific learning needs.

I was fortunate enough to not come across much bullying at GBS. I feel like if there were incidents, the staff would handle it professionally.

I am so proud to say that Glenbrook South is my alma mater. My experiences at GBS helped shape me into the person that I am today. I love the community and family feel of the school. I love that GBS has a place for truly everyone. I know people have commented on this site stating that if you didn't have school spirit and did not attend games you were left out. I completely disagree. I felt like there was a place for everyone, no matter who you were. It is true that the school does have high school spirit and pep, but there are clubs of all sorts for a variety of interests/hobbies. If sports weren't your thing, then you could join yearbook/newspaper, drama club, gamers club, model UN, debate, anime club. You name it! The way I felt about GBS was that you got out of it what you put in. If you went to school wanting to be a part of the community in any way, there was an opportunity for you. I am now working for the school district and could not be happier that I am back with District 225. I hope that once my kids are of high school age, we can move to the area so they can have the amazing experience at Glenbrook South High School like I did.

The homework load helped me prepare for courses in college. It helped build my work ethic.
Posted: September 18, 2017
Every single teacher I had at GBS took the time to care for my education and my own personal growth. Teachers were knowledgeable in their specific areas of expertise. Teachers took the time to meet with me outside of class if I ever needed any extra help.

Glenbrook South was one of the best experiences of my life. It truly prepared me for high school and what to expect out in college and the real world. I feel like I grew into the person I am today with the right moral compass and ability to care/respect others because of my time at South.

My son had an IEP and has since graduated from college. He had a wonderful relationship with his case worker and together we brought him out of the lower level classes into the mainstream with the exception of areas he struggled with (math). Too many "good" schools like this one have emphasized accelerated classes that the average or student that learn differently from others out of the mainstream.

Too much unneeded homework/tests with many test scores expecting a C as average from teachers, some teachers can be rude/yell shaming kids for not getting good grades, many girls are sent unwanted male genitalia pictures, kids are made fun of by others for sticking up for themselves as if that's a weakness, they get in trouble for things a student does OUTSIDE of school on weekends even, way too many rules-feels like a prison, must be rich or popular, this school expects you to be perfect and devote your child's life to them don't force them to go here the expenses they make you pay are not worth it

Going to Glenbrook South High School was definitely the best years of my life. Everyone is super kind and the school is actually diverse despite it's location. School spirit is definitely a big part of the school. When I first came, i wasn't big on school spirit but it gets contagious. The academics are outstanding, now that i'm in college, I feel like I got a head start by going to GBS. GBS prepared me well for my future. There's also SO many clubs and interesting elective classes to be a part of. I encourage new students to really try to get involved in the school, it really makes your experience 100x better! I promise. I would love my kids to attend this school in the future. Thank you GBS <3
