Not a welcoming school. They do not accept kids with special needs or kids who are hyperactive. Stay away if your child doesnt color between the lines. They will make you feel your child is delayed and needs professional help.

Our Lady Of Perpetual Help School is an indictment of the sole reasons for a major reform of the American Education System. Children with learning and physical disabilities are driven away from the school and receive no accommodation from administration. As long as parents pay thousands to the school's endeavors OLPH administration will happily sweep all of the cyberbullying and prejudice of their students under the rug and create a façade of happiness and sense of community while students are overwhelmed by assignments that provide no educational experience for them to digest that will support them in the future. Basic First AID, taxes, economics, and other necessary means of information are embarrassingly non-existent as students suffer from lack of logical development. Children are heavily criticized and criminalized for making small mistakes and strict, outdated, and inflexible behavioral and disciplinary policies leave no room for children to fix their errors and learn from their faults. A uniform policy that incorporates large amounts of discrimination leaves students without the opportunity to express themselves as individuals through the way that they dress or the way that they want to appear. Staff members are paid an embarrassing salary of <$40,000/yr; that's barely above the poverty line and no effort has been shown by OLPH nor the Archdiocese of Chicago to raise the salary of faculty. Yet, OLPH administration has made sure to proudly wave banners in McDonnell Hall celebrating the parish's success of donating a whopping 6% of their proceeds to the poor/needy in the Glenview community while the other 94% of proceeds land directly in the pockets of OLPH administration. Casual homophobia and racism is perfectly allowed by students, even if they are caught, as long as they smile and wave at potential clients for gullible parents to send their children here. Attempting to dupe the public into believing that our school has no flaws is a hideous practice. Students are required to write mandatory notes of praise and positivity about this school and completely overlook the major issues OLPH administration fails to address. Administration shows off their flashy notes of encouragement from students even though another thing that's written in black-and-white is that they forced a student to write an attribute about the school that wasn't negative or they wouldn't receive full credit.

i have two children at OLPH and will be sending my younger two here as well when they are old enough. This school embraces the whole family. It is a wonderful, caring community that puts my children first. The school is rich in tradition. i love the annual performances, prayer services and sporting events. There is also so much for every child's interest - from sports to music and fine arts. OLPH also has great resources for any child who may need extra attention, including speech. We love the community and caring teachers and staff.

Our son enjoys OLPH he is our 4 th child the other 3 went to public schools and we feel his experience has been much better.
We feel the DR.Mills and the OLPH staff take great pride in helping kids balance education, religion, sports, and teaching kids to be thoughtful of others.

Our experience with his teachers has been fantastic they go above and beyond to help him grow.

I would highly recommend this school for anyone
The families all seem great and most volunteer for school events it is truly a great place to grow up and we are sure he will look back on his time at OLPH with joyful memories

Our warm and friendly tour of OLPH was a stark contrast from the daily reality. Speaking for the upper grades, the culture at OLPH is punitive and negative. Every bad stereotype you can think of about Catholic schools exists at OLPH to an almost satirical level. A lot of hours and energy go into formulating rules, and the minutia of these rules is almost laughable if it wasnt so negative. Threatening (after school) detention is the schools primary method of incentivizing children to fall in line, and punishment is swift and over-reactive for infractions like walking in the wrong direction down the stairs, leaving a completed homework assignment in a locker three feet from your desk, or wearing two-toned leather shoes rather than single-color leather, as just a few examples. We started to get the impression that one staff members sole job responsibility was to sit and think of new rules, send lengthy communication to parents dissecting these rules, and then actively search for violations of those rules so she could almost gleefully dole out detention. It quickly became clear what this school is all about: rules for the sake of rules. As parents, these petty rules were a giant eye roll, but the negativity started to wear on us. For our once cheerful child who was accustomed to operating within a fairly standard set of reasonable boundaries, she developed anxiety from so many constant threats and stopped enjoying school altogether. OLPH is not a happy or nurturing learning environment, and its approach to motivating children is negative rather than positive. The fixation on dress code is downright obsessive and the requirements far exceed those of most other Catholic schools. There is also a lack of modern resources that you would find in better-funded private or public schools. Homework is on the excessive side, but we wouldnt say their academics are particularly strong, either. We did not feel this learning environment would prepare our child for high school, academically or socially. We had high hopes for this school, but we were left very disappointed at every turn.

My daughter Casandra has attended olph since 2019 from 6th to this year 8th grade. I have been lost for words at how amazimg this school and staff are and we are a BIG famlly. You are parr of OLPH in every way.

I am so pleased that even after my daughter graduates in 2022 , I will still be connected. A+ all around. I wish rhey were a highschool as well.

OLPH has had a great response during the COVID closure. Our 4th and 6th graders had ongoing learning and even tests. I'm grateful that they made progress and covered the material needed to go on to the next grade levels.

Olph is a wonderful school with with teachers and staff who go above and beyond the call of duty. This school teaches to the whole child. Its not just about academics, but also about personal and spiritual growth. The teachers are there because they want to be. They could be making double or even triple the pay at a public school, but the choose to be at Olph because they understand the importance that God plays in my childs upbringing. Academically, this school has exceeded my expectations and offer exceptional music, art and physical education curriculums. The nurse and school counselors are always on hand and available.

the amount of bullying in this school is unimaginable. i went here from K-8th grade and it damaged my mental health greatly. the rich kids looked down on anyone that didnt have money. they picked on us for no reason. their parents have connections with the school that let them get whatever they want. the teachers and staff dont care about bullying as much as they should. even some of the TEACHERS are rude to us. sometimes the teachers even gave us homework because they did not want to teach us, they would just make us do the work without understanding it and then blame us when we fail tests. the leveling of the classes is also just terrible. the amount of homework they gave us was life crushing, it literally stopped me from seeing my friends and took me hours upon hours. and when you cant finish the homework they give you a detention and make it seem like its the end of the world. despite the school saying its diverse, its really not. the only good thing i got out of this school was my friends. everything else, excluding some extracurricular activities, was the worst experience of my life and i wish i left that school. please, dont send your children here.

Our daughters who graduated from this school are very well prepared for high school and college. The teachers are very supportive to students and parents. The school does an excellent job teaching the Catholic faith through service to others and in every day life. Its a positive community feel for the whole family

My daughter has a learning disability. Once we had her diagnosed she was given accommodations and put into a resource class where she gets the help she needs inmate and reading, while mainstreaming for other classes. Before her ICEP meeting, all of her teachers and counselors said a prayer on her behalf. It was beautiful.

It is taught, and consequences are doled out according to rules, but the school cannot control everything, such as attitudes the kids bring from home, or poor choices students make.

As a teacher, I feel that our principal literally spends her life setting the example for the rest of the staff. She gives 100% for every meeting, every in-service day, well... everything. Get this: she even supervises outdoor recess every single day so she can get to know each child more personally. Of course, she makes mistakes sometimes; nobody's perfect... but what more could anyone possibly want?!

If students grades 4 and above miss a homework assignment, they have an automatic detention- it's awesome, actually. They are not able to get overwhelmed and way behind... they quickly correct the problem and get back on track. Parents instantly know too.

I am so pleased with the character building and religious formation that goes on at OLPH. I see my kids acheiving academically, physically, amd most importantly spiritually. The school has strong leadership and committed teachers. The experience my family has had here far exceeds my expectations.

We have been at OLPH for the last 3 years and have been very pleased. Our children love their teachers and have made wonderful friends. While OLPH is a Catholic school, their focus, while religious, also focuses on social justice and service towards others. Academically, the curriculum seems solid and they have recently invested in 5 new STEM labs for the school. Overall, we feel like OLPH is a wonderful community to be a part of. Our children are happy and thriving.

My daughter's OLPH experience has been outstanding, both academically and socially. The students receive individualized attention in the classroom, are motivated to perform at a high level (OLPH has a higher grade scale than the local public schools), and are encouraged to help others along the way. After attending the first parent/teacher conference of the 2015-2016 school year, I knew my daughter's teacher understood what makes my daughter tick almost as well as I do. I also give a huge thumbs up to the music program which facilitates performances beginning at a young age where all of the students participate. In addition, there is a strong sense of community within OL, from the staff and the families, and of course, the students.

Our experience was not what we expected from a catholic based community. It's based on "who you know" and not "what you do" for the school if you and/or your child wants to feel accepted with the in crowd. I've already been there, done that when I joined a sorority in college. Not necessary to put my child through it at such a young age.

The school is very organized, the teacher we have this year is wonderful!(she alone deserves 10 stars) Three stars because the support staff is very unfriendly. Some of them talk down to you as if you owe them something. And the office secretary, please smile.... She is very unfriendly and not much of a help, really bad attitude. Lighten up, you work in a place where you show an example to the future generation. Agree with other reviewers about hiring friends and family. It simply should not be done in any business. To get the best results, the employees should be hired based on the skill set and not the connection to the principal. If you are concerned about the school being snoody, there is plenty of that here among the staff and the parents.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help School is an excellent private school located in Glenview, IL. The faith based education that my daughter receives exceeds my expectations. The amazing teachers and friendly staff made my family feel very welcome when we first arrived here. The principal is extremely devoted to her students and is the image of professionalism. I can honestly say that OLPH is the premiere school on the north shore.

I would never recommend this school. OLPH has caused me so much stress that a kid should never have to deal with. The teachers don't teach concepts, they just make you memorize it. They give hours of homework a night because they do not want to teach it. Lastly, if the parent of a child isn't friends with staff or other parents, the child suffers. My homeroom teacher in sixth grade made me cry, twice. We requested to switch teachers. The staff denied. It's no secret, if your family has connections, or have money, you basically get whatever you want. So, listen to a student when I say this: put your child in a public school.

I am an alum and have had two children go through OLPH. Although we don't have a lot of money, I have always found a place and friends for myself and my children. Our primary reason for sending our children is religion. The children are well prepared for sacraments and perform service and attend liturgies. The teachers are dedicated, hardworking, and truly care for the students. I have found that kids advance a little slower in terms of dating and internet issues than at public schools. Bullying issues have been dealt with quickly and responsibly. The band program is phenomenal. Our one child has graduated and was well prepared for high school and the amount of work demanded. No place is perfect, but OLPH has been a wonderful place for my children to learn, grow, and develop into moral, responsible, and intelligent young adults.

I am so happy to be sending my children to OLPH. The sense of community and family are very strong. My husband and I are not from this area and we found it to be extremely welcoming for our family. Yes people have money at this school...but we live in Glenview....what do you expect? The public school kids have money too. Is our school perfect...no...but no school is perfect. Room for improvement for me would be more emphasis on arts and less on athletics. It comes down to what is the right decision for your family. And for us...it was OLPH.

OLPH has been a wonderful school for our family. We have been at OLPH for many years and have found that our children are well prepared for high school (in many ways) and that they have a solid foundation in their Catholic faith. There is a great balance between the challenging academics and the engaging school events. It is nice that each grade has at least one major event to celebrate with their class every year. The sense of community and parent involvement is overwhelming! We have been fortunate to have OLPH here in Glenview!

Not what I though a Catholic school would be about. This place is all about money. If you donate and spend a lot than you will be treated well. If you don't, your voice will never be heard. Notice how many white families attend? Not much of a place for seeing different cultures. The principal tells a parent what they want to hear, and then turns around and does nothing! Bullying is a huge issue and nothing is done about it. Math and Science are very poor and kids are behind when they enter high school. We were there for years and finally could not take it anymore and left. So much happier the last years in the public schools. Education is better and there is much less focus on material things. For a Catholic school I was disapointed in the non Catholic teachings. The Principal needs to go so that change can happen. Too focused on "tradition" and not willing to take something away. Kids have to grow up too quickly there and don't get time to be a kid. They don't even dress up for Halloween in the younger grades! Yet they all celebrate Homecoming? It is not a high school! This area has great public schools, so I would save your money and go public!

We love OLPH. 3 out of our 4 children are currently enrolled, all of them are having a great experience. We love the sports program, the band director is unbelievable and we can't say enough about the sense of community. The academics are tough and the focus on responsibility and study strategies is wonderful. They will be fully prepared as they move on to high school and college.

OLPH As an Alumni of OLPH and married to another Alumni of OLPH, and now our 2 Children are attending OLPH is so fantastic! What I know helped me most was that OLPH taught me HOW TO STUDY! When I got to HS and College, I drew upon the study skills I had learned at OLPH, and they took me through life. Catholic Education is a choice for sure, but once your children come to OLPH they will be taught things for life! Religion, education, language, sports, character, teamwork, discipline, faith, knowlege, and service! A big school, but a small "OL" Community. We welcome all new families like our own. There is many volunteer parents who work to make sure every new family has a mentor family of their own who can help them every step of the way with open and welcoming arms! OLPH is not all work and no fun! These students work hard, so they can play hard! In the last 2 weeks we have had pep rally, homecoming, warrior day, STANLEY CUP, and 4 well deserved non uniform days! I couldn't any prouder of OLPH today, as my 2 kids are thriving from the continued dedication of the teachers and administration to provide a premier education in the finest catholic tradition! BRAVO OLPH!

Great teachers and staff and outstanding academics? Check. Incredible school spirit? Check. A great sports program? Check. Theatre programs, choir and an outstanding band program with a full-time band director? Check. A full-time school nurse, speech pathologist, and reading specialists? Check. Extended Day Programs, after school clubs, variety shows, all-school musical, Science Olympiad program and Battle of the Books? Check. Our Lady of Perpetural Help (OLPH) is a wonderful, welcoming school with rigorous academics and terrific resources. We have been part of the school community since 2007 when our oldest attended the Junior Kindergarten program. We now have 3 children, all of whom are enrolled at OLPH. We have utilitized so many of the resources at school, from the speech pathologist to the reading specialist. My husband and I are not only happy with the academics at OLPH; we also love the sense of community and faith that weaves through student life. It is such an important part of what OLPH is all about - preparing our children to be successful not only academically, but spiritually, socially and physically.

I graduated from OLPH over a decade ago, and would not think twice before sending my children here. OLPH has an incredible sense of community, involved teachers, parents, and prepared my classmates and I for success in the outside world. This school is a gem, and I am grateful to have had the privilege of attending it.
