As a parent, you will receive very limited communication from the actual room teachers, while everything is cycled through the location director, someone who is too impatient to be working with young children to begin with. If you question the director’s policies or disciplinary action, she takes it personally and will try to do everything in her power to push you out of the program.

While communication was poor from the room teachers about how our child was doing academically — the local director was very eager to point out every single negative behavior they could find. We found that we were not the only family being bullied by the location director on a weekly basis. Multiple families were receiving weekly or daily calls about "bad" behavior and were told if their child doesn't turn it around, the child would have to do partial day (still paying full price btw) OR would not be welcome in their program further. This was happening to multiple children from the same classroom of sixteen children.

The teaching staff they choose to hire are all submissive mainly so the location director can control and suppress them into their “belief” system. And then it got worse. We decided to speak to the managing director of all the schools to voice our concerns. Unfortunately, the managing director lives in a false sense of reality, believing their school helps make a difference in children’s lives despite all the ethical issues we raised to them. For example, when we told them that our location director told us our child should consider seeing a doctor because “there could be something wrong" with them - they didn’t say much to that, and we never got an apology. The managing director will recite text book psychology to you about your child, while also never actually admitting the school has dropped the ball on poor communication and ill-equipped staff.

They may have diplomas on the wall, but they should not be working with children. Advice - please read the other reviews, even if they're old. We thought because they were old review we would give them a shot, but it's still the same issues with this group of schools.

I have my two children at Deerfield Montessori School and they both began at 3 months old. I feel confident that my children are not only being cared for by adults who treat them like their own children/grandchildren but that they are being taught more than your average daycare/preschool. I am always amazed when my 3 1/2 year old son comes home and tells me about his day. He is very independent and does more for himself than any other 3 year old I know. My daughter who is nearly 1 is also doing very well. She is always happy and smiling when I pick her up and it is obvious that she loves her teachers and they love her in return. There is no greater peace of mind than to feel your children are happy and healthy and safe when you're leaving them in someone else's hands.

We have had our children at Deerfield Montessori since they were 3 months old and couldn't be more pleased with our experience (they are now 4 and 5). The seasoned, energetic staff provides a safe, caring, fun, stimulating environment. The teachers/Directors/Directresses are very in tune with each child's behavior, emotions and academic performance. They know our children well. We could not ask for a better day care / school. Our kids are excited to go to "school" every day - the smiles on their face and excitement in telling us all they did and learned every day pretty much says it all! We highly recommend Deerfield Montessori Schools.

I couldn't imagine sending my son anywhere else. He is in good hands and I have peace of mind. He has flourished and I strongly feel that the Montessori school has a lot to do with his good attitude and behavior.
