My kid got served raw food, students told him to kill himself and they stabbed my child with a plastic knife.

I highly recommend Deerpath Middle School. I have two boys that previously went to private school in the city, but enrolled in Deerpath after moving to Lake Forest.
The school and students were welcoming, and the academic offerings were much broader than what was offered by their previous school, as well as others we looked at in the city.
Communication to the parents is excellent, and my interactions with the teachers and administration have been professional, prompt, and remind me of a private school in spite of the larger size of the student body.
Some parents will always be unhappy, but nearly all of the parents I have met since moving to Lake Forest love this school.

The AVA Remote Learning program needs to be completely revamped. Class starts at 8:45am, yet instruction doesnt begin until 9:10. They play games for at least twenty minutes. When I first noticed it, I didnt think much of it, but after sitting in and listening for two weeks, I realized that my child has been getting cheated out of a quality instruction. However, the good news is its only happening in her class. The other teachers are doing a wonderful job. I asked my child how long this has been going on in her class, and it turns out it has been the standard practice for this teacher all year. Where is the accountability? Where is the oversight? This is not fair to the parents/tax payers, and especially, our children. And its not fair to the other teachers who are teaching. Im giving a 3 out of 5 star rating. I wish I could give 5 stars for my childs other teachers, because they are great.
I hope the students will get a better LA experience when they go back to school in the fall. My only concern is who will be watching to make sure they do?

6th grade (AVA) Language arts is a complete joke at this school. No one is teaching writing. No one. I completely agree with the previous post. The parents should be given a property tax credit because they are certainly not getting what they paid for. 5th grade teachers rocked last tear, but the 6th grade AVA language arts teacher my child has this year is really disappointing. My child has learned NOTHING in her class this year.

Does anyone teach writing in sixth grade at this school? Of course they don't. Ok. Well, how come no one is teaching writing in sixth grade? The 6th grade LA department needs a complete overhaul. Pink slips sound like a good start.

There is a huge bullying issue at this school, and certain parents and staff are enabling it. Social media is destroying our kids in so many more ways then it benefits them, when will the government step in and make a law restricting it's use to kids over 18. Shame on those who have enabled this situation.

We LOVE this middle school, I was nervous sending my fifth grade student to middle school, they do a great job transitioning the youngest grade...and the Music program is wonderful.

Terrible principal and school environment. Bullying is everywhere, even the staff, wouldn't recommend this school if your student is bright, creative or needs supports.
