Excellent school, it is small (about 10 per class) with a lot of parental and community involvement. Students, teachers and parents are held accountable. With the small class size the teachers have the time to help students with their strengths and weaknesses. They have given more flexibility than surrounding schools through the pandemic, zoom learning when needed, spreading out desks to reduce masked time. Also as a Lutheran school they teach Christian faith based values, helping give children a strong foundation.

While my son attended Woodburn Lutheran School, he was bullied by another student. The school did little to investigate or effectively put a stop to the bullying. My husband and I requested that the school staff complete incident reports for any unusual events involving either of my children, as a paper trail was becoming necessary the worse the bullying became. The school failed to honor this request. The final straw, which compelled me to withdraw my children, was when the bully tried to force my son into a trash can in the boys' room. While the school made the bully write an apology note for this incident, they failed to formally document it in an incident report, as I had requested. The WLS atmosphere is very cliquish and unwelcoming to outsiders. I would not recommend this school.

Sending our kids to WLS has been the best decision we have ever made. I only wish it went through 12th grade.

Class sizes are small so there is plenty of time to complete work. The teachers do not believe in giving a bunch of busy work. Homework usually consists of special projects or memory.

WLS goes beyond excellent academics and serves as an extension of the Christian values and morals we teach at home. WLS students go on to graduate at the top of their class and excel in careers as adults. Small classroom size gives students the individual attention they need. It's the perfect balance of excellent academics and life skills. Students are given opportunities to develop valuable presentation skills at the events they host for parents and the community. I can't imagine sending my child anywhere else!

My son was being bullied by the teacher he had attended this school for 3 years. My niece is being bullied by the teachers son because she went to a friend's house of a little girl who does not have many friends. My two nephews have/had very serious medical conditions that require multiple Dr and hospital visits. And the school is punishing them for it. Not saying the school is bad but be alert and listen to your kid. They also push the kids along instead of taking the time to help them if the don't know or don't understand.
