I know my category ratings are confusing given the one star, heres the problem with this school. Its so small that anyone who’s looking for real friends and a community to engage with will be VERY disappointed. Full of a bunch of racist homophobic rich kids. Beg life your life depends on it not to be sent here. To actually live it is hell which my review may not project.

I would not recommend this school special ed is a joke they do not have the resources to support children with IEPs, and the special ed coordinator is a joke. A lot of the teachers are on emergency permits or no degree . Also, people who are suing for when the teachers might want to check with the department of education because they might not be on the list to even be able to sub, but that won't stop them. Rockcreek also will keep family from being able to be a part of what is going on in the school with their own kids such as parties or field trips, not much of a community. The administration is mainly all related, so in stead of supporting their kids and families, they are too busy covering their own. Sports such so if you are a family who kids that are wanting to play sports don't look here and sports director is also related to the administration. High school is barely able to meet the requirements of the new diploma requirements. Also they are taking kids that are being kicked out of other schools for behavior issues so that they can fill their seats due to this is a school who administration will lie to straight to your face has NO support for children with IEPs and last year one of the basketball coaches decided to cuss the kids out a lay hands one of the kids and school still keep him and allowed him to be around the children. Don't go there there are better schools out there.

My son is over a grade ahead in learning, his social and emotional development far exceeded others his age, teachers have been excellent to engage with, very supportive of all of her students, and all are, in fact, licensed to teach. They don't even hire paraprofessionals without prior experience and/or licenses, teachers are required to. It's state law.

My son went to RCCA for seven years. They had him in special ed english and math classes. He was always an emotion wreck from the lack of support. I transferred him to a different school and he's excelling now. He scored beyond high-school level on I-Learn for english and is in Algebra 2 which is grade level and is a top performer/has an A-100% in that as well. He's making A's and B's in everything so why did he not even know nouns, verbs, or his multiplication table after seven years at RCCA. Maybe spend less time on your Houses and more time teaching. Sad!

In overall garbage... complete garbage. This school is the most self centered, racist(unless your an athlete), homophobic school I have ever been to. The only students they care about are elementary up to 3rd grade and athletes that play either boys basketball or boys/girls volleyball and barley theater. The favoritism in my opinion is out of control the only reason they even care about the theater program is because they got the news to recognize the school. If your family member or 1% related to anybody at the school you will be favored and love it here. Although their education is terrible they sure do care about the students CHARACTER, so much that they spent over $1000 for a rainbow spinning wheel that the students don't even care about. If your going to spend that much money on something at least spend it on new textbooks and college readiness classes. DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE, I REPEAT DO NOT THEY WILL NOT BE SATISFIED AND WILL NOT LEARN A SINGLE THING. I SUGGEST JEFF HIGH OR NEW ALBANY OVER ROCK CREEK ANY DAY.

This school has made our lives a living nightmare. Teachers have poor boundaries, call late in the evening to rant and rave. Their emails are backhanded, rude and grammatically terrifying. Everything is so incredibly unorganized. Several times I've had to teach my kid the correct information after they got home. If your child is advanced they'll be bored out of their mind. If he/she is behind, good luck. They seem more focused on uniforms, specifical events and social media. Bullying isn't addressed well, everyone is related to eachother or knows eachother out of school. Even if a child does tell, they face backlash. My childs teacher has a temper and can be fairly rude. I feel like I've spent the entire year wrapped up in the drama she creates and answering her mountain of emails she sends during class. We are looking for another school.

Absolutely horrible!
I honestly don’t even know where to start here.
You can get a new building if you want to.
But that does not change the horrible leadership or the staff!
Everyone seems to be related.
Staff married to staff, children related to the principle and allowed to be disruptive in class and rude!
The principles related to the dean of students all the way down to the teachers the bus drivers and the athletic the director being married to the dean of students.
The children have absolutely nobody to turn to.
That’s dangerous!
Neither does the parents!
What are you going to do? Complain to the dean of students that one of the teachers, (her family member or very close friend) is on their personal cell phone during class? That they don’t even teach but show videos to the kids instead to “figure it out”? Sports are a joke here and so is the practice!
Cleaning the desks or even the lunch room tables inbetween lunch simply does not happen.
So the flu, lice and whatever else in my opinion seems to be running rampant all the time.
The classes are so boring!
My child absolutely never doodles on their paper ... till THIS school!
Don’t get confused and think the school is doing anything with giving out chrome books! Just to get that signed out was a joke the big deal they make about a used up lap top that doesn’t even work!
The children are literally snorting pixie sticks and fun dip powder up their nose in class!
Children have their cell phones in class leaned up against their chrome book and the teacher doesn’t notice, because the teacher sits at their desk on their phone or doesn't move from one spot the entire class.
The school principal is less than welcoming. She will look a parent dead in the face without even saying good morning or introducing herself.
The things I have found out about the school and the lack of honesty is astonishing. They want your child to yes sir and yes ma’am, but they lack the example themself!
Instead of walking round from class to class to see if the teachers are even standing there educating the students.
More time is spent raising money for their school and making children that don’t, stand out and feel horrible.
Don’t ever call the school, Nobody ever answers the phone.
They are rude when they do!
I’ve never seen anything like this place. I could go on, but just don’t send your child here.
Just don’t.

They do an awesome job through fifth grade but then it's sink or swim with no paraprofessionals/pull out time in middle and high school.

Posted: August 25, 2019

Most of the kids here get along like family. Though, there seems to have been a clique, mostly of girls develop last year in fifth grade. They are now in sixth grade and there are still some bullying issues, especially at lunch time.
There's not enough supervision in the cafeteria and there's a lot of inappropriate talk going on and making fun of others. My child is very uncomfortable in that particular environment and is not even a target of the rude comments which are about weight and physical appearance of classmates and the parents of classmates
The inappropriate conversations revolve around sexual subjects that I do not wish to say on here.
There needs to be more supervision.

Posted: August 25, 2019

Overall, better than any school I've ever attended. I wish that I would've went to rock creek myself. It's a caring and cozy environment.
Though, I do feel like they could make things easier and more comfortable for the students.
They are forced to carry laptops plus other stuff between classes which a heavy load. The uniforms feel like sandpaper and there are very few choices. If they added navy to their colors the shopping would be a little easier. It would also be helpful if they were more lenient on the materials and styles because the pants are almost impossible to find if your child is on the heavy side. The uniform store is frequently low on stock and too far away.
It is also quite distressing for the kids who are used to working with paraprofessionals to suddenly not have any help once the reach middle school.
I really wish the cafeteria was better supervised because since last year my child has been telling me the inappropriate sorts of stuff being talked about and I'm shocked that fifth and sixth graders even know about that kind of stuff.

Unless you are related to staff you will not be treated with respect. There's absolutely no integrity within most of the administration at this school. Stay away, the state rating does not reflect on the treatment of the families at this school, that rating would be an F!

Posted: March 18, 2015

If I could put no stars I would. This school is no good. If you want your child to be bullied by teachers and students then send them there. The teaching staff is poor. My daughter went there for a year. she was doing the work a middle schooler would do(shes in high school). They do not prepare you for college at all. Staff call out your kids in front of everyone in the school. This school breaks a lot of rules. If your child goes to the staff for help they will tell everyone even students. This school is based on favoritism. If you don't play a sport or know the staff person my they will not like you .

My daughter has only had Kindergarten at Rock Creek so far, but I have really seen great things out of her. The teachers have really good communication with the parents and her Kindergarten class is reading at a first grade level. She brings about 15 minutes of homework home each day except for Friday and they take spelling tests each week. Mrs. Winchester is an awesome teacher who really cares about the kids.

My daughter attended this school in 8th grade and is back for 10th grade. We took a year of home schooling for a variety of reasons, including allowing her some time to mature at home. We couldn't be happier to be a part of the Rock Creek family. I wouldn't even know where to start, but let me just say that the school doesn't just brush bullying under the rug like so many other schools. They truly care about the welfare of the student. The academics are probably what you take from them. My daughter has been struggling in math and they've been giving her the help she needs. I've already seen an improvement. If you aren't sure about whether a charter school is right for you, I would visit, talk to some of the students and staff. It is the right place for my daughter. Our family loves it. We are thankful we were able to get back in this year. There is often a waiting list and we did have a short wait to get in, but luckily there was an opening. ~ Lori

Last year was the first year my son attended Rock Creek. I could not have been more pleased. The staff and teachers really care about the students. I never seen this kind of dedication in the public school my did attend.

Posted: April 24, 2012

I LOVE the elementary school! Both my daughters have teachers who care, and although one of the other reviews said this is a school for those academically behind, my eldest daughter is in an extremely advanced class. Two yrs in a row, the elementary Destination Imagination team has gone to state and placed so high, they have then gone to TN. I have subbed for almost every teacher, and I've been impressed for the hardwork being put forth by teachers and students.

Posted: April 9, 2012

I find the negative review on here really surprising. We feel our 6 year old is so blessed to be attending Rock Creek Community Academy. It is a fanastic school that has great teachers who not only teach advanced academics, but how to be a good person. We absolutely could not be happier with our son's education and surroundings while at school.

Posted: January 22, 2012

This is definitely not a school for every student. If your child is academically behind, this is a great school for him because he will be with others who are similar academically. If your child is a bully, or has behavioral issues, he will fit right in with the rest of the students. If your child thrives in a disorganized environment, then this is the school for them!
