Canaan has a very nurturing environment and works with students to meet their physical, emotional and academic needs. Canaan focuses on teaching the whole child and not just teaching to the test. The staff is caring and work well together to make sure each student is getting the assistance that they need.

In my opinion after being at the school it is an excellent alternative to regular public school. The atmosphere is inviting and family oriented. The students are greeted at the door every morning before going to breakfast, which is free for all students. The teachers are waiting at the classroom door for them and knows each student very well. The seating and classroom setting is homey and comfortable. The lessons are project based and hands on. They are encouraged to be creative and use critical thinking. There is an SEL staff to take care of emotional, behavioral and immediate needs such as clothes or food. The staff demonstrates Equity verses Equality every day. They teach to the whole child and individuality of each students needs with care and compassion. I love this school and how it is making a difference in our community by teaching students to be a person of integrity, not just academics.

Canaan Community Academy is a nurturing environment in which to get a quality education. Students receive instruction in reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and computer science. Students have weekly classes in library, art, healthy mind and body, music, and gardening. We have a school garden in which students learn to grow their own food, as well as a land lab for students to learn more about their natural environment. Students also learn valuable life skills via our micro-society system.

Canaan takes a vested interest in students' social-emotional wellbeing. We have a SEL team, healthy mind classes, and nurture groups every week. We know our students well and work to support them not only academically, but as people as well.

We have multiple opportunities for families to become engaged in the school environment and their child's learning. We have a yearly literacy event (Kids Invite Someone Special), as well as STEM-centric events such as Bytes with Buddies. Families are also encouraged to volunteer in their child's classroom and attend class events, such as parties or performances.

Canaan has extracurricular opportunities such as Flag Corp, e-sports, book club, and reading clubs. We have also had sewing club, Lego club, Science Bowl, archery, Girls Who Code, and running club in past years. I love that students have a chance to engage in fun activities that meet their interests!

I'm one happy Nana! My grandkids love going to Canaan Community Academy. They enjoy all the hands-on activities. Their State STEM certification says more than the test scores about the quality of instruction at this school. Most importantly they care for all of the kids.

What makes CCA different, its the smaller classes, the hands on learning the students get to experience and the no homework. They also work on the students mental health as much as the academics. Students get to express themselves in music and art and learn how to grow and harvest their own food. It takes both parent and the school working together to help make a child's education successful. I stayed in contact with teachers and reached out when I had a question, they were always willing to help. My child is no longer at this school, she is in college and doing very well, but I still have family attending this school and doing very well. It's a team effort.

They have a no homework policy. CCA encourages students to read 20 minutes a night and study for tests. Family time is greatly respected and valued.

Canaan Community Academy is a great school that provides unique learning experiences, including weekly gardening, physical education, music, character education, and art classes, for students. This school has been amazing for my children. The focus on emotional well-being is very important to my family, and this school excels in that area. Academics are important, and I feel my children get what they need. I could care less about standardized test scores or anything related to standardized tests, my family feels its irrelevant at any school. The staff care about all the students and my kids feel very safe and welcomed.

I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone due to the leadership. The teachers were good. Administration was horrible.

This is an excellent school. The teachers and staff are wonderful, competent people who truly care about each child. My children are always treated as individuals and they are very happy at Canaan. Class sizes are small and we love the minimal homework policy. I feel confident that my children are receiving an outstanding education at this school!

NO TUITION! Love this school! The staff is wonderful and caring! Class size is limited. CCA received an A from the state the very first year in operation! They offer extended day learning opportunities where the kids can participate in such things as foreign language, gardening club, running club, etc.
