Wichita North High School gave me some of the best experiences of my high school career. Looking back, I can honestly say I would choose North again without hesitation.

One of North's biggest strengths is the number of opportunities available to students. Whether you're interested in engineering, athletics, fine arts, leadership, or clubs, there's a place for you if you're willing to get involved. During my time at North, I was able to participate in engineering, golf, bowling, marching band, concert band, and several leadership positions. Those experiences helped me grow both academically and personally.

The PLTW engineering program was especially valuable. It challenged me to think critically, solve real-world problems, and ultimately helped prepare me for studying engineering in college. Many of my teachers genuinely cared about their students and wanted to see them succeed, both inside and outside the classroom.

The coaches, directors, and sponsors also played a huge role in making my experience memorable. They pushed students to improve while creating an environment where people could develop confidence, responsibility, and leadership skills.

Like any school, North isn't perfect, but what makes it stand out is the community. If you're willing to put yourself out there and take advantage of the opportunities available, you'll find people who support you and experiences that you'll remember long after graduation.

North helped shape who I am today. It gave me lifelong memories, lifelong friendships, valuable leadership experience, and the confidence to pursue a degree in engineering. For those reasons, I can confidently give Wichita North High School 5 out of 5 stars. I will always be proud to be a RedHawk!

This North high school is not protecting the students from other students who are violent. They say they have security but are not reliable at their jobs. The school has a certain restroom that is known for where some students vape and violently beat up on other students. Apparently this certain restroom has had this bad reputation for years. Why is security not frequently patrolling this restroom? Especially when it is known as the "bad" one. My grandson was beat up on when he spoke up to these bullies who were beating up another student. The bullies turned their attention to my grandson who just told them to stop beating up on the other student. The bullies then decided to give my grandson a beat down, severely kicking him in the head. My daughter had to take him to the emergency where he was diagnosed with a concussion. Beware, do not send your child to this school!

For me this school was once an amazing school my parents loved it and the hyped it up by saying all of the ways the spirit of the school shines but when I got here, I didn't feel it but that also could be my freshman year was online and I hated it and I could be why the scores have been so low or it could be that the student's aren't engaged enough but other than being online the school hasn't been that bad I have never see a fight at this school for 3 years I have been going but I do here they do happen, and I don't see drugs being passed around but that also could be that I'm in higher level classes than most that walk the halls. but since my freshman year the spirt of the school has grown, I can still remember the first pep assembly I was in I was down on the floor, and I could hear everyone screaming with joy as we walked out. For the times I wasn't on the floor I was in the stands with friends just having a fun time the gym would get so loud when they brought out the spirt stick and mostly everyone would try and be as loud as possible to win the stick. and that's just one of many great things that has happened at north, and I believe that the teachers and the new students coming will try as hard as they can to get this school to the top again.

North has many options for AP and honors classes. There are many opportunities in clubs, sports, music and other extracurricular activities. North has helped me grow as leader.

I have been at this school for less than a year and I am still ahead of most of the students here. I have grown up in a small town with less students and less drugs. I honestly do not like this school.

Let's get real with ourselves when rating this school. Thought school spirit may be high, and the biased endorsement of the principal is strong, North High underperforms both the Wichita average and the state average in a state that ranks 37th in the nation. If what you are looking for is a principal that attends events and a lot of pride from the alumni, then this might be a good fit, but my experience with sending two students there is that the workload--while capable of getting kids through the system--will not help people to stretch or grow in learning and understanding of the world around them. This is not to say that the teachers are not passionate or that they do not do well given the hand they are dealt, but if we are being intellectually honest with ourselves, this is not a 4- or 5-star school. Average at best, all things considered, but rankings generally speak for themselves.

First... full disclosure: I am the principal of this school so my perspective is tinted by rose colored glasses. I love this school. My son will be a Senior and my daughter is an incoming Freshmen. I have been here for 10 years and have always felt blessed to be the principal. Ask anyone who has ever attend or worked here what they think! Sure there will be issues, concerns, and instances where I could have done better, but I have faith that there is no better school in the city!
