Xavier Preschool and Extended care were the perfect fit for our family. As a family that moves frequently we were instantly welcomed into the family and the community. The staff created a wonderful Faith center learning environment that engaged my daughter the 1.5 years we were there. Her teachers always had something fun planned and were there to comfort and educate my daughter through the big emotions that come with 3-4 year olds. I wish we could have continued her education with Xavier!

We have been with Xavier for over five years. In those 5 plus years we have experienced support, caring teachers, and willingness to help those in need. I could not ask for a better school for my children. Thank you Xavier Catholic School

Xavier Catholic School is why we chose to stay in the Leavenworth area! The Xavier school community is like a second family, helping to raise our children and, now, our grandchildren. Faith-infused curriculum; caring, supportive teachers and staff; and Preschool through 8th grade education. Thank you, Xavier!

I have attended this school for 6 years and graduated. First, the teachers. Overall, theyre okay. The younger ones were a bit nicer than some of the older ones. Though, in third grade, there was a very judgmental teacher. The current librarian is a little rough. The music teacher in my last year of band did not seem to be that great. Because of the low budget of the school, the teachers are a hit or miss. There was a English teacher that had a doctorates degree. Next, the facilities. Id definitely avoid the gyms bathroom. There are computers the the 6th grade an up get for assignments. The food is edible. Next are the after school activities. These happen based on how many students want to participate. The band, though, is pretty big. Female sports might not happen due to low turnout. Now, school events. The school events are mostly for kids. Not middle schoolers. Though, there are some that are okay to attend. Now the classes are very small. There was a class of five. This number is not likely to get bigger as the years pass, and you would probably now the other students there for years. This is fine and dandy, but if your friends fall off, or you are unable to make friends, you might have now friends for a while. Once you are older, you might want to go to public school then that schools high school to make your life easier. Recommended for young kids, not older ones. Send them to the public school.

Xavier is academically exceptional, and a loving and safe environment for children. My eight year old sums describes Xavier perfectly:
We are a small school, but a big family!

I would never recommend this school. The only reason they got 2 stars is because there were some good teachers there, but they have all left. We should have pulled my son out after that first week there, when he started kindergarten. The very first day, when we walked our 6-year-old son up to the school, the then principal told us that he needs to walk up to the school himself. He was only 6 and we had to walk him to and from the preschool he had been at previously. That was what he was used to and he needed time to work up to walking up on his own. The principal made a huge deal of us walking him up there and didn't want to give us the time to work up to it. Then, IN FRONT OF MY SON, she said, "Well, maybe he should go back to preschool." My son, being the intelligent child he is and the fact that he already hated kindergarten there, realized that he might get to go back if he acted up. He started throwing huge fits whenever we tried to get him to walk up to the school. He even told me that he did it because he wanted to go back to preschool. They had a habit of reinforcing this behavior by giving him exactly what he wanted.
They already had homework in kindergarten and expectations were far too high for 6-year-old children. That is supposed to be a time to get them prepared for school, not just suddenly dump it on them. Children should be able to enjoy kindergarten.
Some years were better than others because of some really good teachers that were very good at getting my son to calm down and there was a really great principal (that was the best year for him) after that first horrible one, who's contract they didn't renew.
They expect too much of the children and don't even prepare them for it. In second grade, he was already expected to do middle school and high school type reports, without being taught how to. I couldn't believe it and even complained. They're teaching two different chapters of the math book in math each day and expect the kids to be able to keep up with it. It is ridiculous. I expected the school to be a little more advanced than public school, but that is just taking it too far and my son started there ahead in every area.
They made school a horrible experience for him and we should have pulled him out after that first week.
He in public school now and thriving. He has had none of the behaviors that he had at Xavier and looks forward to going every day. This is vastly different from how it was at Xavier. That says a lot.

Mrs. Porter is extremely critical and negative. She speaks poorly if students she dislikes. If you are Christian but not catholic she makes sure your child feels excluded and unwelcome and repeatedly makes comments like this isnt a good fit and maybe you should go somewhere else.

I only have positive things to say. My child attends preschool and we could not be happier. We will be a member of the Xavier community for years to come. The cost for this quality education and community is no more than what it would cost so send your child to a good daycare.

We have lived in Leavenworth since our Children entered Kindergarten on Ft. Leavenworth...after 7 years we finally made the switch to the LRCSS and we couldn't be happier with the faith based education. To include all the friends our children have made, for it was so transient on the Fort, it was difficult to sustain their friendships. We truly wish we would have made this decision years ago! The education is attentive given class size and the sports programs give every child an opportunity to participate with quality coaches and very supportive parents.

Students are taught values and strong ethical morals. They are led by example by the teaching staff at Xavier. Frequently they are learning about how to treat others in the way that Jesus did. That they have discussions in the classrooms on a daily basis about how to be more like Jesus positively influences their behavior and how they treat others. Students are very respectful.

As a parent I couldn't be more confident in my decision to send my child to Xavier Catholic School. To see how she is developing and influenced in such a positive way with her mind, body and spirit makes me so proud. Her teachers have all shown great care in her learning and they take extra time when needed to make sure she is achieving to her peak level. There are so many moments where I am so thankful for the choice to send her to Xavier Catholic School. It is a choice that will impact her for life.

Teachers are effective as can be seen in the scores in the MAP tests that are given at beginning and end of year.
Posted: March 17, 2016
Homework load is just right most of the time. Some nights it might be lighter and occasionally a middle school student may seem like there is a heavy load but many times some of the assignments were given many days to complete and the student waited until the night before to complete it.

My son attends Kindergarten at Xavier and my husband started teaching 5th grade there this year. The minute you walk into the school you are instantly greeted with a smile. It is a warm and inviting atmosphere. The academics taught to the students are top notch. As a Kindergarten teacher in the area, I am impressed with everything my Kindergartener is learning! We love the Xavier family and look forward to being a part of it for many years to come!

I attend Xavier growing up and have family that sends their children to the schools. Just like it was then, it is a great school with caring teachers, a great education, and a chance for children to learn about faith and morals. I love the small-town feel within the school community. It is a school that I enjoyed attending, that my family values, and that I hope to send my own children to.

This is a fantastic school! Emphasis on Christ and an amazing education at the same time. Why would you go anywhere else? Tuition is always top of con list but please check in with the school they will never let ability to pay stand in the way of your child receiving a Catholic based education. Check it out! You wont regret it!

The staff, teachers and families here are the best example of "it takes a village". In my experience with this school system, they all work together so well and truly care about the academic as well as spiritual growth of each child. Coming from the public school system I can say that this is the best thing for my child. Since attending Xavier he has truly thrived.

Xavier Catholic School is an ABSOLUTELY wonderful school! One of the things We enjoy most about our children attending is that we know they are educating our child's hearts as well as their minds! We also love that they allow you to be as involved as you want and the ladder. There are so many events for you to be involved in or volunteer for. I realize that not everyone has time to volunteer but they do find ways other than volunteering for people to help out. They only have 1 required Fundraiser and the other is optional and actually really FUN. You spend 10-20 at the most. The school has opened their arms to our family and we truly feel blessed to be apart of such an Amazing environment! My children enjoy going to school each and every day and love experiencing Christ in their daily teachings. We feel so secure every day knowing that our children are loved and cared for. I also know that they deal with any problems with a swift hand and smart follow up. Xavier is a breath of fresh air and we are so happy to have this as our choice.

My children attended Xavier for preschool and kindergarten. It was a wonderful experience! The class sizes were small (10 in pre-k and 12 in kindergarten), the teachers were warm and caring, and the other parents and children were very welcoming. This especially meant much to us, as we are a military family. I was not the Room Mom, but was openly invited to, and did, attend each class party and field trip. The principal and teachers worked hard to create a safe, nurturing environment for the students. Lessons were rigorous and steeped in Christian values. Though not Catholic, my children felt accepted and included. I would highly recommend Xavier to any family, especially those coming to Ft Leavenworth; my only regret is not being able to stay longer.

We are a military family and have LOVED Xavier for three years. The preschool is the best in town. The kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade teachers love what they do and truly love their students. My children have thrived at Xavier, we will be sad to leave. Do not hesitate to choose Xavier if you want the best for your children! As I pass the Fort Leavenworth students loading the school buses every morning, I am happy to drive my kiddos across town where they will feel Christ's love all day.

The teachers and staff may seem warm and welcoming at first, but after the school year starts, they are not. There was no parent involvement except to raise more money for the school. They "ask" that you participate in every fund raiser. I found questionable methods of discipline with my child and withdrew midway through the year. There is only one teacher per classroom. There are no other witnesses to see what goes on inside the classroom. If you are military, check with the school liaison officer on Fort Leavenworth.

The staff and administration are not warm and welcoming. They do not encourage you to be involved as a parent. Sad for a Catholic school that really needs the support of military students.
