The school encourages good citizenship and kindness to others.

The school has a very warm environment that fosters children of all different learning levels. I have a child with Autism and a child with anxiety and have felt that this school has been the most supportive in fostering their learning and growth. I have observed many times kindness to others of different learning levels.

This has been our favorite school that our children have attended, they have set the bar through kindness, encouragement, and excellent teaching abilities. We are very sad to be leaving.

The teachers and all staff are very caring of the students at this school. The principal walks around, greets parents, and is very aware.

This school is fabulous. We miss it dearly. Every teacher my students encountered, the office staff, nurses, cafeteria and janitorial staff are all top notch and genuinely care about the school, students, and family. The physical school is phenomenal indoors and out. The activities held and sponsored by the school are enriching. Our whole family misses our time at Ike!

Sadly, our experience at Eisenhower has been less than stellar. Out of our numerous military moves, this is the worst school my child has attended. While the building itself is beautiful, the quality of instruction within is lacking. We had issues with my child's teacher from the very first day. She was cold and condescending at open house and has maintained her attitude all year long. At the first conference, she could not tell us anything about our child other than (word for word) "Well, he's not a problem."

There is no communication from the teacher and very little from the school. There is ZERO individualization. All students are given the exact same work and activities despite their current levels. When I asked about this during a conference, I was given an attitude and told "that is how we do things here." Antiquated instructional strategies (isolated spelling lists, busy work, long worksheets, etc.) have left my child less than engaged.

I could write a novel about all the issues we have had this year. Be aware-- if you live off post and enroll your child in elementary school on post, you will be placed at Eisenhower (all off-post families are). Be sure to visit/explore your assigned neighborhood school-- it may be a better fit for your child. I hope others have a better experience than we did. I'm very glad we were only here for a year.

As a military family, we have been at several schools and Eisenhower has been the worst so far. Everything is about the teachers. There are always teacher appreciation this and teacher appreciation that. Not once have the kids received awards (i.e., certificate) for all their hard work. This school does not believe in it because it might make other kids who didn't quite make honor roll feel bad. That's bologna. I think it would be a motivater but suggestions like this are quickly shot down without any thought. The day can't come soon enough when my kids are no longer students here.

We just moved here for one year, coming from California where the schools are absolutely incredible, so we didn't know what to expect from a school district that we didn't know a single person in. We absolutely adore Eisenhower Elementary! We adored it from day 1! The teachers have been wonderful (especially the 3rd grade team), The amount of homework has been just right, about an hour a night and that's including reading, reviewing spelling words and math facts. Our daughter loves the teachers, aids, students and facilities! I love how advanced the programs are! There is an incredible science program with engineering, amazing art classes that include all different kinds of mediums, including pottery, painting, and so many more, and the phys ed program is excellent as well. Always a variety of sciences, music, art, and physical activities at the school. Our daughter has excelled in third grade this year. I wish we had longer military orders to be able to stay at Fort Leavenworth and such an excellent school for more than one year :-).

The teachers and staff model these traits. They show they value the student and draw attention to positive behavior through letters from the principal to photos of students displayed when they are frequently nominated for exhibiting integrity.

My children have been in public school for 6 years now in 4 states and I taught school for several years prior to that. We call Eisenhower "the dream school"
It's teachers and staff are as beautiful as its school building! A pond, built in window seats, it looks like a mall. My kids felt cared for ALL the time. There is a positive learning environment there that can't do anything but succeed. Smart, hardworking staff and teachers all with a mission that kids matter. Don't miss this opportunity for your kids.

Two kids and five cumulative years at Ike and we loved it. Third grade was advanced by the end (basic statistics, economics and Greek mythology), but these challenges are good as long as the core curriculum is thoroughly taught (which it was). The teachers really care about the kids and the school is beautiful. We were spoiled at this school and will miss it tremendously!

Outstanding school! My children had the best experience at IKE! Fabulous administration and teachers. The technology was above and beyond. It doesn't get better than this!

WOW. For reference, we are from Pennsylvania and New Jersey- home of what are considered "great" education states. I have also done professional research in the quality of education in relation to budgets, etc. I have a son in Kindergarten, and I also volunteer many times a week in the classroom. My son is receiving special services within his mainstream classroom, and I could not be happier in which the way that this has been integrated by his team of teachers and specialists. This school does flex learning, and every teacher has a vested interest in every single child. They are also very open to parental suggestions and modifications. Parents are really part of the learning team here. The principal is very approachable and friendly, as is the rest of the staff here. There are many half Fridays where the teachers meet and tailor the flex groups and lessons to make sure every child is learning and mastering the material in a fun and innovative way. The school is BEAUTIFUL and a rich learning environment. There are Smart Boards, PA systems, iPads, computer stations, and imaginative play areas (kitchen, blocks, art areas in the classroom.) We really don't want to leave!

We've loved this school. Our kids have gone through grades 2-6 here. We've been especially happy with the "flexing" program that they use. Basically, students are tested prior to a new unit in both reading and math. Students are then assigned to different groups based on their knowledge. They stay in these groups for a few weeks until a new unit is taught, at which time they'll be retested and reassigned. I wish all schools would use a similar model-the students who already have a good knowledge of a topic get challenging curriculum while those that need a more basic curriculum get that. We've had both good and great teachers here-never any weak ones. Our kids have really enjoyed this school, we'll be sad to leave it.

This school is absolutly amazing! My daughter and son were lucky enough to get to go there for 3 1/2 years. The school is clean and the best school they have ever gone to. My family has just moved and we wish we could go back because of how kind the teachers are and how fun the school was. =)

The facility has an atmosphere that is relaxing and comfortable. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The curriculum has been enriching and challenging in a good way, no timed tests are a great plus. As a parent I definitely feel like I am being listened to. I have three children attending this school with varying needs, ranging from gifted to ADHD and they all have been addressed well over the course of the year. We will be sad to leave.

This school is awesome. It is the nicest elem. school I have ever seen. The prinicpal is great and easy to talk to. Patsy at the front desk is wonderful. The teachers are amazing. The school has a pond, miscroscopes and a planetarium is nearby. If you are coming from a CA school, you will be impressed. I would stay here just for the school. Gifted students are challenged. If you have a student with an IEP, the school is fantastic in that regard too, doesn't mean you have to stop being yoru child's advocate though. The lunch is healthy and a step up from MO and CA. Children do have art, musci and PE.

Attention: If you are moving into this school and have a gifted student. You will have to appeal through the local county Special Education cooperative and state education department in order to get attention for your child. There are 2 long standing practices the school administration uses to discourage consideration for the gifted program: 1) using test scores as the sole criteria contrary to state and county guidelines and 2) an informal policy not allowing administrators to inform parents of their rights according to Kansas law that parents can request an evaluation. Administrators are opposed to complying with the standards and are frightened of reprisal if they were to violate the local policy regarding rights notification. Its an unfortunate mark on an otherwise good school.
