I am a freshman and have only been at DeSales for a few weeks now, and I have to say I highly recommend it. I want to critique but theres honestly nothing wrong with the school, I do think the facilities could be a little nicer given that its also a 65-year-old building is the only thing I would say. DeSales is an excellent school where you are welcomed immediately and automatically feel like family!!!

I attended DeSales a few years ago. I am now a police officer. I credit my time at DeSales for building the ethics, morales, and professionalism I needed to be successful in my career. DeSales treats the students as young men and expects positive results. I am grateful for my time there!

the teachers talk to them and treat them like men. they hold them accountable for their actions and work with them to help with decisions, etc.

My son had a wonderful experience here and I give credit to the DeSales' community, staff, and alumni for helping me shape him into the man he is today. I am very proud of my son for his accomplishments during and since his time at DeSales but more importantly, I am proud of his heart, his kindness and his true sense of brotherhood that he will always have thanks to his 4 years at DeSales. it was the best decision we ever made, money well spent and an experience we will always cherish.

This school is about average for schools in the city of Louisville--WAY too much emphasis on athletics, which unfortunately, is also the standard at catholic men's schools in this city. Follows very primitive "tradition" of allowing upper class men to bully lower classmen and also utilizes sadly outmoded disciplinary techniques. Called "judgement under God"--students stand in the hall, facing wall for 45 minutes if found to be breaking rule--and this could be anything from wearing wrong socks, to watching YouTube in class, to plagiarizing. I think God would be much more thoughtful in handing out punishments for these infractions.....our son transferred elsewhere and is flourishing and MUCH happier this year....and as a result, doing MUCH better! If your son is very athletic this might be a good fit....or if he's accustomed to the catholic school mentality...otherwise I would think twice, especially for this price!

DeSales is awesome! It's a place where you can "Be who you are and be that well" (St. Francis DeSales). With the football championship last year and the new stadium on the way our athletics are off the charts. Academics are amazing too; many successful Governor's Scholars and even nationally honored students. Clubs are very inclusive ranging from Pep Band, to Outdoors (CABO), to Campus Ministry, Academic Team, Peer Leaders, Diveristy Club, Intramurals, and all the Academic Honor Societies. All in all, DeSales is the best place in Louisville for a guy to spend 4 years of his life. They strongly empower and embody their ideals of faith, brotherhood, and tradition and encourage all to stand up, stand out, and stand proud. As someone who attended private elementerary and middle school, and one year of public high school, I strongly urge any guy to shaddow and consider us. Don't let distance be a problem, we have a bus! God bless!
