Been here since sixth-grade and now 10th. Love it here; however, some problems, such as education and students being louder than a tornado siren, can be adjusted. I struggled learning at first, but when I started here some of my teachers really helped my formal education like Mrs Missy for middle school and Algebra 1, Mrs. Annette for Biology, and many other teachers. I'd love to see improvement for learning new things each day instead of the same thing every month. Looking forward to 2026-2027 year!!! >v<

NHC has been like a second home for me as a student of 7 years. The caring teachers, the christian environment and the fun memories you will make at NHC is completely unmatched. The education is phenomenal, offering tons of different classes and extracurriculars for students of all ages. Playing sports for NHC has been probably the most fun i’ve ever had in my life and the memories and bonds i’ve made with coaches and fellow teammates will never be forgotten. North Hardin Christian is the best school in the world and nothing will change my mind. Go Falcons!

I as a former student of NHC, encountered a distinctive educational experience. The teachers here exhibit commendable expertise and passion in their roles, showcasing a dedication that undoubtedly contributes to the school's academic reputation. Their teaching methods, engagement with students, and overall commitment to fostering a positive learning environment are noteworthy.

However, despite the evident strengths in the teaching faculty, there's a sense that the overall school experience falls short in certain aspects. While it's not an unbearable situation, one can't help but feel that a private school of this caliber should be more than just tolerable. There is room for improvement, particularly in areas such as facilities, extracurricular offerings, and the overall student experience.

To truly uphold the standards expected of a private institution, it would be beneficial for the school to invest in enhancing these areas. By addressing these shortcomings, the school has the potential to elevate the overall experience for students, ensuring that it aligns more closely with the high expectations associated with private education.

So as a former student, I am not surprised in the least by alot of what people have been saying. I didnt realize that my treatment by staff wasnt normal until I left. I didnt realize getting called rebellious and that I would fail in life because of my wicked heart wasnt normal to hear from a teacher. I thought it WAS normal because that is what i grew up with at this school. The academics did not prepare me for collegiate level academics. I heard more lectures about morality and finding God than i did about things that matter. I saw first hand my friends be targeted as evil or rebellious for wearing dark clothes or makeup even though it was within dress code. I saw how the kids that didnt go to the church were treated. I did not enjoy staff telling me off whenever they saw fit from a moral high ground. I was actually pretty compliant for a "rebel". If you didnt play sports or were not good at sports you didnt get by with as much as the players did. If you were not related or on the in crowd you also suffered. I did find two influences to stand out among the teachers as authentically trying to help kids grow in faith and as a human being one of which was Josh Hardin. I feel like the schools goals of being a mission field is pretty evident in the day to day student life where doctrine is drilled in and critical thinking is discouraged. Ive seen so many teachers and students alike have to conform or get out with no in between. I saw nothing available for mental health except Christian counseling by a teacher or pastor when really a professional should have been recommended. I left feeling unprepared for the "world" with my confidence broken. On the flip side i never felt in danger physically here so it was a safe physically place. The staff probably had good intentions in all they did but missed the mark in my opinion.

For accreditation, they give the Iowa Assessment to students but will not release the school performance. No transparency whatsoever. Do not send your child here for academics.

During 2021, the pre-K was very unprofessional! Issues range from employees not arriving/opening the school on time, not greeting you or your kids, and supervisors failing to address issues. It seemed like we were just a pay check.

They give a ridiculous amount of homework in the younger grades and it crushes their spirits because they have to sift through hours of work at night. In the higher grades, homework is literally nonexistent.

There are a few teachers at this school who are amazing, Mr. Johnson and Mr. Oxford. Unfortunately, many of the teachers here are related to the owner's family and dont always bother to show up to class to teach. Mr. Cassie specifically. Unfortunately, the teachers who are good get shot down by the family.

This school used to be great when Josh Hardin ran it. The owner forces every teacher to attend his church and forced Josh into leaving because they had different beliefs. Remember, they are literally family and he doesn't want to go to his church. Please do not send your kids here. I have been a thousand times happier at John Hardin and leaving NHC was one of the best decisions of my life.

I personally had ADHD and they basically claimed that was not a real disorder and had nothing to do with my problems. Keep in mind I maintained a perfect GPA the entire time I was there and would only get in trouble for fighting back against kids they deemed were untouchable and better than me because I was not related to them.

This school does nothing whatsoever against bullies. If you are a member of the owner's family you can bully all day long. I was the subject of repeated bullying from 3rd to 7th grade by the owner's grandchildren and not a single thing was ever doent o stop it.

I had an absolute abysmal experience at this school. I was repeatedly bullied by many people here and the teachers and the administration did nothing about it. They kicked out good teachers simply because they would not perfectly agree with their views. This school was once good, but has now destroyed its own reputation and follows deeper and deeper into a pit of muck. I wish they cared for people, but they in no way do. Our experience has been nothing short of amazing. The staff care deeply about the students and their well-being. They have all the amenities and extra curricular activities that you would expect from a public school, but the care, safety, and biblical teachings of a private school.

I do not place much value on the opinions expressed on review sites. It is evident that this site has been used a forum for individuals to lash out in frustration. Personally, I have had a great experience at NHCS. My 10+years experience with the school, staff, faculty, and administration has validated my belief that NHC cares about students, their families, and the community.

Our 3rd Grade child entered NHCS as a new student in Aug. '16. After just 6 weeks, & MANY hours of study at home, our child was deflated! We were also told by some classmates about the teacher making rude, insensitive comments to our child! Our child told us some screwed up "Biblical" views that were being taught, i.e. "Hell is a place where you sleep forever"! WHAT??? Our child's teacher lied right to our faces & the director supported the teacher's lies! Our child went from am "A" student to "C" student drowning in homework! His Math test was 6 PAGES long!!! Really???

The majority of the staff are related to the director & they run the school like a dictatorship! If a parent finds fault with a staff member, they close ranks & "shun" the parent(s)! Then they proceed to humiliate the child in class at every opportunity!

I smell another "Waco"! Good-bye & good riddance NHCS! Our child is SO happy not to attend this school any longer! He is SO excited to have Mommy be his teacher again! :)

Overall Experience: The other bad reviews about this school are correct. Our private school closed, my sons class had 8 kids in it. NHC offered to pick up this students, and since there was no time to look into other options (it closed 2 days before Christmas Break) 7 or so of the students made the transition. We are now just 6 weeks in and there are maybe 2 of the 7 students left at this school.

I don't think they wanted our students, it almost seems as if they were targeted to get rid of us. It is a family ran and owned "Church" business. If you aren't one of them, don't bother. Another child pulled out yesterday, I pulled mine last week. The principal told the mom today "I've noticed the ones who've left are the ones who can't keep up", besides the fact that its rude, its a complete lie. My child test 3 grades ahead of where he is. He kept up just fine. However, in 4 weeks they took a child who LOVES to learn and was happy to go to school everyday and turned him into a kid who cried every Sunday because it meant he had to go to school the next day. He cried every morning on the way there, and told me he even hated Math now. Which has always been his favorite subject. He wasn't himself anymore, it was time to go.

How they did it so quickly - I'll never know. All of the kids within a week after leaving were back to their normal personalities. These were not "bad" or "misbehaving" kids, these were all kids who were taught at a private Christian school - but it was loving and warm not cold like NHC.

When I was discussing the school change with my Pediatrician even she said "NHC expects your child to conform to their school, they will not conform to your child" so if your child fits into their box, great. Mine however is not a box, and they sucked the life right out of him.

Welcome to North Hardin Christian School, a place of lecture, boredom, and ignorance. No where will you find these three attributes other than here.

Let's start with the boredom aspect. Students sit in a classroom doing nothing (I thought school was about learning). The classes mainly involve lectures that lead to nowhere. They are about either how attitude or disrespect will make you a failure in life. A student's personal opinion is considered disrespectful. Instead, the only opinion that matters is that of the teacher's.

As for ignorance, very little teaching is done; but instead, complaining about a student's attention to detail. Also, more lectures about how college is the most important thing in life; and if you do not go to college, you are a wasted mind.

I am very fed up with the school's system of discipline and order. Sometimes I question the administration's ability to lead the student body. Between in-school suspensions for hugging or even sometimes touching the opposite sex, to standing up for what you personally believe in, favorites are chosen based on how a teacher views the student.

This happens often, but worst than that, the school will often attempt to control a student's personal life outside of school. Student's have also been stalked by teachers in the school on social media, then questioned about their moral standard.

The majority of teachers do not even carry teaching credentials from accredited universities. Pensacola Christian College, for example, is located in Pensacola, Florida, and is not an accredited university. It is no surprise that this is where North Hardin Christian School recommends all their students to go.

Dr. Clayton Hunt, the disciplinary for the middle and high school students, lives by the philosophy that facial hair of any kind is “unprofessional.” He has stated this on many occasions. Not to mention, hair should be cut short to, in his words, a “professional standard.”

Cellular devices, laptops, and tablets are completely out of the question. If one were to have any such thing on their person it would result in its removal for five days and three demerits to go onto their record.

In summary, North Hardin Christian School lacks the fundamentals of education.

This school is backwards with homework. In elementary school, the kids are given homework that could take them three hours to do. As the grade level goes up, homework is less often assigned and, by the twelfth grade, no homework is given at all. How is this supposed to help students in college?

This school does not teach honesty, integrity, and fairness to its students. It teaches them how to be "spoon fed" and to believe everything they hear. They basically give you what you need to know and make life too easy, without properly preparing the student for college. Moreover, the problem with this school is it makes students very oppressive towards the opposite sex. They do not encourage interaction between male and females at all, which is one of the most beneficial relationships among people.

NHC is a light to our community...and particularly, my family! My children have attended since preschool. Academically, they test at the top of their class based on national test averages. Socially, they love to go to school and interact with their friends. Spiritually, they are educated from a Christian perspective that reinforces our family's standards. The teacher's often show up at our children's after school activities (even on Saturday's) in support of their achievements. I am blessed to have the opportunity to send my children to a Christian school. I am blessed to have my children at NHCS!

My two children have attended North Hardin Christian School. My youngest for the past 9 years, and my oldest attended 11 years before graduating from NHCS. NHCS is the best school, in my opinion, because of the academic, athletic and spiritual growth that is available. I have seen these areas strengthened in my children by the people at NHCS. The administration, faculty and staff are professional and care about the students. I love that the school is in line with my home and church. There is no better school for children to attend if you want your Christian home uplifted and your children to see the love of Christ. Thank you NHCS for loving my family and providing such a wonderful place for my children to grow!

As a former graduate and now parent of three children who attend NHC, I am so thankful for this place! In a world where wrong is right and truth is relevant, NHC stands as a beacon of light only to those who are willing to deny themselves and follow Christ! The faculty and staff at NHC guided me through ten years of Biblical truth towards a life of saving faith and amazing grace. From an academic standpoint, I graduated with highest honors from the college of my choice and love my current job. Christianity is an exclusive religion, and "few there be that find it;" the world hates this fact; but the administration continues to promote the difficult truths of God's Word and a life led by the Holy Spirit. Because of this place, I can say, "It is well with my soul!"

I have atleast one of my children at NHC for the past three years and our experience has been a very rocky one at best. The school has been a safe enviornment over our last school system experience but the quality and compassion expressed from the teaching adminstration towards my children has been mediocre at best. From teachers showing up (if at all) 10-15 minutes late to ending teaching 15-20 minutes early to telling kids they are retarded or stupid if they don't believe what the teacher believes to telling families that if they don't like how the school is run ,they can just leave. Very arrogant attitude by family that runs the facility. Some teachers instruct the kids on how to do an assignment one time and after that, tell them to ask their friends or look in the book and will not offer additional help. For carrying the name "Christian" in their name, they have some work to do to live up to that standard.

I've had at least one of my children at NHC for 10 years. No school is perfect, but NHC is a wonderful school with a great faculty and a family atmosphere. My children have received a good education in a Christian setting. It is very affordable, and is Southern Association accredited. I highly recommend NHC if you are looking to send your children to a Christian school in Hardin county.

This is a very nice school. My son is a junior and he has been going to the school since he was in first grade. The staff there are mostly one family and are very good Christian people. The school is run by the church and the church is Baptist. All students have six classes each day Monday-Friday. A bible class is a requirement for all students with a chapel about once every month sometimes more. All of the administration are approachable and care about the students. They care about not only the students education but also their growth in their Christian walk. So far there is only one teacher that my son ha had a bad experience with back in middle school. She still teaches there but is only a middle school teacher. Otherwise all of the teachers have proper degrees for what they teach. Might I also mention that in most classes the teacher will begin class with prayer, which makes the atmosphere of the class much more peaceable. All teachers who work there are required e a Christian testimony so all the teachers are Christians.

A school ran by a bunch of twisted, judgmental hypocrites. This school offers ONE AP class (AP Chem), and my child learned so much more at a public school that I didn't even have to pay for. The classes are not challenging, and half of the time teachers (especially in the family) will show up late to class. Not just a minute or two late, but 10 minutes or more. Students are constantly being put down & told that they have no hope. My child made a bad grade on ONE quiz, and was told that he would never succeed in life. I do not need a teacher (or administrator, ahem) to say that to my child. Oh, and they have a son-in-law who has been charged with, and admitted to inappropriate relations with a 15 year old girl...and he still walks the halls of the school. That is SICK if you ask me. Please take this as a warning and DO NOT send your child here if you want them to have a good education & respect & understanding for others.

I sent my child here in hopes of getting him back on track. We were warned about this place but choose to try it any way. WHAT A BIG MISTAKE!!! My child is no angel but he had some self belief before attending NHC. Coming out of NHC I have a child that has been shone, put down, embarrassed, and hopeless. I cannot wait for summer to be here so my child can be done with this school and be back where he belongs.
