My granddaughter attended
Meredith-Dunn and had a great experience. She was diagnosed with dyslexia in 1st grade and the move to MDS changed her life. She is now reading above grade level and thriving at Assumption.

Meredith-Dunn was a life-changer for our family. The warm and friendly environment took us right in. It wasnt long before we realized the staff here know their business they are the pros. Their experience and dedication show in the results, which are kids that overcome, survive, and thrive beyond expectations.

Our daughter attended Meredith Dunn School from first through eighth grade after doing kindergarten twice.she has dyslexia and couldnt read at all after kindergarten. MDS helped her not only LEARN to read but also to LOVE reading. She graduated MDS last year and has mainstreamed to a local girls high school now where she is doing great. The teachers and staff at MDS are amazing and work so hard to help kids succeed. Whether Dyslexia, Dysgraphia or Non Verbal issues (and many others) are your childs issue, MDS teachers are specially trained in Wilson learning program which is known for success in educating kids with learning differences. If you have any idea at all that your kids need help, go immediately to MDS where they can assess your childs specific needs and build a plan with you to help them achieve.

Transferring my child to MD was the best decision we could have made. His confidence in his academics was almost nonexistent before starting at MD, but now hes like a whole different child. He doesnt dread school anymore and comes out smiling at the end of the day.
The classes are small, allowing for more individual attention. The teachers understand his learning difference. He feels more comfortable amongst his new peers. Homework doesnt take a ridiculous amount of time in the evenings.
I couldnt ask for anything more in a school.

OUTSTANDING. EXCEPTIONAL. Best investment we made for our son. this school truly changed our lives for the better, and my son and family will forever be grateful to MDS and sing its praises. I often say that EVERY school should be like MDS. Every child deserves an education like they provide. Our country would be a better place.

highly individualized and not overly burdensome. it was always what my child could handle and never resulted in tears. if he needed extra help, his math teacher was always accommodating--met him before school when needed.

the teachers and staff are the heart and soul of the school. the school invests in extra training and certification for its teachers, and they develop the best and most thoughtful individual education plans. they constantly reevaluated them and adapted them to our son's changing needs.

this is the fulcrum of their mission. they truly develop hearts and minds. the promote a culture of inclusivity and compassion throughout the year through celebration fridays, when good behavior is rewarded in a public and tangible way. also through an end of year awards ceremony. they are committed to producing students of great character.

the best leadership. hands down. they are on the pulse of what is going on at the school. the head of school just retired, and there were cars lined up for miles during covid and a thunderstorm to say good-bye. it was a testament to her outstanding leadership. she is a model for all school principals--the total package. i'm confident the board has appointed an equally-effective replacement.

this is the entire purpose of the school, and they have garnered national recognition in this domain. in fact, my family decided to stay in louisville after a national job search because we could not find a school comparable in quality and value to meredith dunn anywhere else.

it was heartbreaking to read one reviewer's experience of this school. and shocking. in my wildest dreams i can't imagine any teacher treating students with anything other than kindness and respect, whether he/she be a bully or the one being bullied. my son was the target of bullying one year, and the teachers, staff, and administration (and school counselor Mrs. Young, who is one of the kindest and most effective mental health professionals i have ever encountered) were ON IT. they addressed the issue promptly and effectively. i think many students come to MDS in their later years after they have been victims of bullying at other less-enlightened schools--bullied because they are "different". i have seen students from other schools disrupt the peace at MDS because they have been traumatized elsewhere, and the school either addresses these students and their behaviors well or the bullies don't return the following year, as in the case with my son. i am sure this is their biggest challenge--reforming students who have been traumatized at other schools and developed negative behaviors. a lot of parents aren't ready to hear that their kids are different and need special ed OR they simply didn't have the right people to guide them to the best learning environment for their children. our son started at MDS in the first grade, and we were very fortunate that we had educated and perceptive people to help us find MDS early.

Our experience at this school was absolutely awful. My son is dyslexic, ADHD and has severe anxiety. Meredith Dunn assured me they could help me with not just his dyslexia but other issues also. That turned out to be completely false. My son was treated so poorly I am just sick over it. His classroom teacher would mock him and say things like "quit being so anxious" As the year went on she began reporting to me that he was faking his anxiety even though it clearly stated on his testing-extreme anxiety. The fact that his teacher treated him like this only made his anxiety 10 times worse. He was bullied and made fun of frequently(way more than his last school which was a large public school). When he reported this to his teacher she laughed in his face and said "this is Meredith Dunn no bullying happens here. When I approached the school about it I was told "perhaps his anxiety is causing him to make up the bullying". I was so appalled and shocked by their response. He continued to be bullied-kicked and tripped on playground twice, had food from lunch box stolen and had school supplies stolen. I continued to report it to the school and they kept saying he was lying. It got so bad it got to the point I could not get my son to go to school anymore so I pulled him out. He had lost all trust in schools and the adults who were supposed to protect him. Luckily we found a great psychologist after evaluating him diagnosed him with severe emotional trauma caused by school. He assured me that my child is far from the only child from meredith Dunn that has been treated like that. He was as disgusted as we were with the school. My son could not eat for 2 months upon leaving the school and lost a tremendous amount of weight. We spent a fortune in medical and psychiatric care After a year of therapy this doctor turned my son into someone who could trust a school again and we enrolled my son in another local school that caters to the same issues as Meredith Dunn. It was a night and day difference. He was welcomed with the most loving arms and is thriving today. There were some good teachers at meredith Dunn but boy oh boy are there some bad ones along with horrible administrative staff. I was recently informed the principal is leaving this year and that many at the school are hoping for a swift cleaning out of certain staff.

This school has been nothing short of amazing for our child. When tutoring and public school were just not working, we knew we had to explore other options. In the first very few months that our child had attended MDS, he was able to read! Not only that, but his confidence has sky-rocketed. It is so heart warming to see everything we knew was in him come alive. The staff is wonderful and there is a great community feel at MDS. Something hard to find in the surrounding city. Also, the kids seem like family to one another and are all so kind. This school has been the best decision we could have ever made for our child.

MD is a great school. You'll find no other place as good as this. I have 2 children here. We were in parochial previuosly and it couldn't touch MD. MD is expensive but its worth every penny. I'd make all the same decisions over again. Can't say enough about how this school has helped my kids. My oldest will start at Trinity or Desales next year and I am confident will be sucessful !!
