I have experience as a parent with 3 different children in 3 different elementary schools over the last ten years, both private and public. I love Chancey and feel blessed that my family gets to be a part of the community there. The communication between school and parents is fantastic and clear, and I can always get through to someone who cares when I need it. Every adult I have encountered in the building shows the utmost care to the children, calling them by name, and noticing them with encouragement, for positive things. My second grader is always happy to go to school, even when she’s having hard days. I know she feels supported by the adults around her and I do too. The activities and community events offered by Chancey are always well-attended, upbeat, and fun. We just really appreciate the warm environment that has been created at Chancey. I know that a welcoming and loving atmosphere is the foundation for successful learning. My child also excels academically thanks to her time at Chancey. She loves math and reading and is proud to show off what she has learned. Overall we have had a great experience with Chancey and would highly recommend. I’m looking forward to my next child attending as well.

I love the school but I do not love the fact that I feel like my daughter's teacher is failing my child! If I have any concerns about my child and I write a note to the teacher their is NEVER a responding letter or phone call! My child has been going to school for 4yrs and she's only in the second grade her grades has always been great grades! My child is an easy learner but from the looks of her last two report cards she has received two NI in two separate subjects! She brings them up to satisfactory only to receive NI in two other subjects! My child has never been a failure and Mrs. Wolf is not giving her all towards my child's education! I don't know if my child will return here next year!

My husband and I contemplated private school for our son before kindergarten and ultimately decided to go to a public school for various reasons. We have been so happy with Chancey Elementary and comment regularly how we are glad we didn't go the private route. Our son's teachers have been amazing and he has progressed and learned so much since entering Chancey (he is now in 1st grade). I have been in his classrooms and have never had any problems going to help out as long the teacher was aware in advance I would be there. The staff is always friendly, welcoming and the administration is excellent; personable and professional. I know in other school districts bringing siblings into classrooms for holiday parties etc.. is not allowed, Chancey welcomes younger siblings with open arms. Overall we have been extremely happy and impressed with our experience at this school.

I overlooked multiple red flags, but one situation led to my transfer application. This is my child's first year in school after being homeschooled for kinder. I want to help support her school success & thought a good starting point would be to observe the flow of her day in the classroom. I was turned away twice. Even after giving 24-hr notice I was told - my visit wasn't approved - it violates other students' privacy - parents are critical - observations are a disruption THEN I was asked what type of work I do that afforded me time to come observe my child's classes an entire day??? Say what?!? I kindly explained that if my child was seeing one teacher a day as opposed to 4+ I wouldn't be observing for an entire day. In any case, I was surprised I was asked to justify & apply for approval to observe in my 6-year-old's class for a day? I can trust you w/my child but you don't trust yourself enough to have me sit in the back of your class while you teach? That's scary. Not consistent with school law or even best practices for parental involvement. Consider revising your policy.

I am a teacher at Chancey. Not only do staff members care deeply about academically challenging each child, we care about educating the whole child. We work hard to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of each child. Our boss is by far the best in JCPS!

We have had a great experience at Chancey. The principal and teachers have all been involved in our child's life. Our son has loved going here, and grown in knowledge and socially.

I am a father of two Chancey students. We are very happy there. Everything from the Chancey garden, daddy-daughter dance, pilgrim's play all give my children a better than great experience. I feel education is important, but it's not just a school concerned with numbers on standarized tests but identifying the needs of the students. The principal is wonderful!!!!!
