The area is a bit not safe but the school is a good one . The parents should come forward and submit reviews so that others will know about the standard of the school

I would rate this school a 10 out 10

My first grader had a more than acceptable amount of homework including works sheets and reading daily for 20 min

We are new to the Louisville/Ky area school system. I have to admit I had no idea what to expect when our daughter was placed at Klondike Elementary. I must admit we have been nothing but pleased. From the moment the of Kindergarten orientation to fast forward 3 years we still feel the same way. The principal Mr.Boyer is incredibly involved in every activity within the school. He is quick to respond to any parent concerns or feedback. You can tell that the principal puts his heart and soul into the school. Also the teachers that work at the school are seasoned professionals. We plan to keep our daughter here through the next few years. I would highly recommend this school to anyone in the area.

I was very nervous about having my kids attend public school in Jefferson County because of all the bad press. However, after 4 years at Klondike, I can say that Klondike is a perfect elementary for my family. The teachers care very much about every kid's progress, and the principle is always active/involved. It always feels safe and clean. The school has a lot of diversity which allows my children to learn from all the cultures in our community. My kids look forward every morning to going to school, what more can you ask for!

I have been fortunate to not have to deal with this.

Posted: December 9, 2016

Through interventions, they are able to identify gaps and work with different methods to strengthen deficiencies. My child is living proof of that!

Posted: December 9, 2016

The principal has a presence at this school and it is obvious he cares about his students. The teachers/administrators as a whole are great.

Posted: December 9, 2016

I believe this foundation is given at home. I don't think they have done anything to decrease or increase this.

Posted: December 9, 2016

I have been with Klondike for 7 years and have been blessed to not have a teacher that I didn't think was committed and dedicated to my daughters' education.

Posted: December 9, 2016

Most teachers give homework on Monday and it is not due until Friday. The homework is very relevant to items learned in school and is set-up to help students excel in K-Prep (multiple choice, inferred reading, writing prompts, etc.).

Both of my daughters are products of Klondike since Kindergarten and they are both excelling leaps and bounds.

Light homework load and always consistent with the lesson plans

Posted: December 9, 2016

My child is in 3rd grade at Klondike now and has been here since Kindergarten. I have had nothing but pleasant experiences with everything she's done at Klondike. Her teachers have been amazing each year. She has excelled beyond what I could ask for and I know that she will be well taken care of with her teacher. The homework load is light so we're also able to have a family life after homework is completed each night.

We could not wish for a better school for our son that Klondike, All teachers and staff are so dedicated and take proud on what they do.
Everyone enjoys working with the kids and you can see it the minute you walk in the door.

I couldn't be happier with this school! My child had a wonderful year last year (2013-2014) after transferring from another school where the experience left a lot to be desired. I had great communication with my child's teacher and the office staff. I wish all JCPS schools had staff like Klondike!

Please note that all the positive reviews here are before 2014. We used to love this school, but in the past year, everything went straight to hell. Over the summer, all our favorite teachers suddenly transferred out. The principal was gone a few months into the school year. Out ability to communicate with the teachers and administration on concerns (which had been great) dropped to zero. Our child was harassed and physically assaulted and her teachers did nothing. Our requests for help when our child was struggling academically were ignored. The entire feel of the school changed and we made the difficult decision after three years of loving the school to transfer our child out. I do not know what happened over the summer of 2013, but it resulted in a very different school than the one depicted in the other reviews here. That having been said, the DO have a GREAT before/after school care program run by the YMCA. Mr. Robert is a saint.

I love Klondike! Great principal and teachers. They also have a great before and after school YMCA child care. The staff is so friendly and they make it fun for the kids!!

this is one of the best elementary schools if not in kentucky but in louisville. i currently have 2 children in the school, one is in the 5th grade and the second in 3rd grade. my 2 daughters went through the school also- one is doing well in central an my second daughter is in JCTMS. The teachers are awesome- they love their jobs and are very friendly-the principal is simply terrific- she loves the students and of course her job; discipline is enforced without been harsh with the students. i simply love the school and i am thankful to God that 2 of my children already passed through the school and 2 are currently there.

The school is dedicated to the educational foundation that is needed to succeed. My child was previously in the number one private school here in the county, he struggled through out the school year and I was quiklu told that my child had various learning disabilities and the teacher was eager to label him in some sort of diagnosis, ADHD, developemental delays, needing medication , they even went as far as to hold him back a year. Upon changing him to Klondike he has been the star-pupil, he is eager to learn and is actually excited! He has carried straight A's and earned a writing and science award this year. If you have teachers that CARE about the children, they will suceed. The teachers there are very informative and keep me up with the class and future projects. I am thankful for the school and all the professionals there, they could have easily kept my child in the same rut as the private school, they believed in my child and his abilities.
