The kids run the school, there is no discipline and the kids who get bullied get in trouble for standing up for themselves.

There is no discipline for bullies, only to separate. Except the child who is bullied gets in trouble for standing up for themselves.

Terrible, I should have switched them years ago before my son started going there. Glad to be moving on to other schools now.

They never have any, no projects, no book reports, only a weekly packet to complete by friday. Not very instructive or interactive.

The kids at this school are generally disruptive, students who excel get no attention because the school is constantly dealing with behavior issues from all the others.

This is very nice school, it's a pretty building with just a few good teachers inside, some kids are good and some others are rude and disrespectful, I've seen many examples on this trough the year and I'm not going to mention the low scores, it is sad, I hope Jcps will be wise in choosing an amazing leader that works hard and clean all the bad things that the school is been carrying for so many years, someone to do the miracle!, in the mean time my children are not going back to this school next year....

Both of my daughters go to Shelby, 4th and 5th grade. I am very disappointed with the school's test scores, but I absolutely love the school. My girls are happy there, they excel in all of their studies. This tells me that the teachers do take the time to individualize the curriculum to fit the student.

My son went from hating school to making sure he didn't miss a day once he started at Shelby. The principle is caring and keeps a tight ship and his teachers were amazing! Ms Riley changed my sons academic path for the better!

This school was awful. My daughter attended Shelby for Kindergarten. There was absolutely no challenging criteria for children who were a little more advanced. Therefor, my daughter was bored, which lead to notes home for talking. The principal is unresponsive, i had made a few calls to the school during the year and she did not return one phone call until the week before the school year ended. I did not even think twice about switching her schools. She now attends one of the Montessori programs and it is a complete 180 from last year.

My Daughter was there for KG and 1st grade. She made good friends at school. Both teachers were very good and she had good time. But it seems that the environment is not that much challenging. At early age kids can learn lot of things really fast and have fun too. Considering the duration of school (7 hrs) kids did not seem to be doing many things. Other hurdle seemed to be lack of parent participation.
