Our children currently attend Southfield School. They wake up every morning excited to go to school. They are so happy once we arrive on campus that they want to run inside. We started out in PreK2 and are now in lower school. We love how they focus on development of the child as whole. It is such a happy and welcoming campus everywhere you walk. All of the staff are kind and encouraging. We drive from Texas so our kids can get the wonderful experience and education Southfield School has to offer.

We are incredibly grateful for our experience at Southfield School. The teachers are exceptional, they truly know each student and take the time to understand how they learn best. The school takes a holistic approach to education, focusing not just on academics but also character, confidence, and personal growth.

What makes Southfield special is the sense of community. Families are welcomed and involved, and it genuinely feels like a partnership between parents, teachers and administration. Our children are challenged, supported, and seen as individuals and Southfield is able to provide what each of my children need.

Southfield School truly stands above the rest. I have had the distinct joy and privilege of experiencing Southfield both as a former teacher and now as a parent, and I can say with complete confidence that the education it provides is exemplary. Having spent 14 years in the classroom, I have seen firsthand what strong teaching and meaningful learning look likeand Southfield consistently delivers both at the highest level.

Academically, Southfield builds a solid foundation that meets students where they are and nurtures their individual strengths. The faculty is intentional about understanding each childs unique needs, ensuring that students are not only supported but challenged appropriately. The result is confident, capable learners who are exceptionally well prepared for continued success long after their time at Southfield.

Beyond academics, Southfield offers something equally important: a safe and nurturing environment where children grow socially and emotionally. As you walk across campus, you see students fully engaged in hands-on learning, immersed in lessons that spark curiosity and foster critical thinking. Southfield school has been one of the best decisions we have ever made for both our family and our children. Our first child showed a lot of potential when he was very young and we wanted to make sure he was in a school that would be able to expand his learning capabilities and also be able to adapt to different styles of learning and Southfield was the perfect fit. We now have all three of our children there and we could not imagine ever having them in another school. One of the best parts of Southfield is the community. Almost everyone knows our entire family even if they are staff from the older classrooms or do not have any direct contact with our boys. The communication with the teachers is open and readily available. Conversations with parents are tailored to each child's need and they actively work with all family members and staff to create a good environment for that specific child's learning needs. Learning at Southfield is always made fun and unique through group projects, civilization fair, and the specific curriculum they have chosen for the school. There have been so many times I tell people that my children go to Southfield and they say "Oh, that's where the smart kids go", and I definitely think that does encompass the culture and goals of Southfield for every child. Importantly, we feel safe with our children being at Southfield every day. Because all staff is knowledgeable about family members and support people they can be very aware when an unknown person is seen on campus. They have real police officers on staff at all times and the kids LOVE these officers; they are truly seen as rockstars! Southfield focuses on not only teaching our children but also help to raise them to be good citizens and members of their community. I have lived many different places in my life and it is hard to find a school so well rounded as Southfield. Our family would never recommend anywhere different in this area.

I have 2 boys in middle school at Southfield, and I'm extremely impressed with their learning environment. The training and support the school provides their teachers shows through the incredible hands-on experiences our boys have. They actually enjoy going to school. I can't say I had the same optimism as a middle schooler years ago. I've also really liked all the opportunities to get to know the other families, especially through being active in the Dad's Club. I also like that we have so many safety precautions taken at Southfield, including an officer on campus who actively engages with families and has gotten to know our kids. I 100% encourage you to visit this school. We continue to have a great experience.

I have had children at this school since preschool and we are now well into the Lower School. As in any environment, you get what you give. If you are privileged enough to be able to be an involved parent, you get to see the behind the scenes care that the teachers and staff pour into the school every day for every child. If you aren't able to be on campus for events or volunteering in various capacities, teachers and staff do their best to keep all parents informed of the going-ons. And on those rare occasions that you may feel as though there hasn't been any communication, reaching out to a teacher or admin is so easy and each person is more than willing to answer questions or concerns. Tuition can be a hard sell with many great area magnet schools, but for us it has been well worth it to maintain smaller classes and the emphasis on fostering the love of learning rather than standardized testing.

This is not a school for everyone. Academics are amazing but the administration and safety of students is non existent to say the least. The tour is great and so welcoming until you are actually in the school its all smoke and mirrors. Yes its true some kids will thrive but not EVERY student is given the same grace. Southfield School has truly become our family's home in Shreveport. From the moment our children joined, they've been embraced by a community that values lifelong learning and nurtures curiosity. The dedicated teachers and staff are always attentive to our concerns and make us feel heard.

What sets Southfield apart are its exceptional enrichment programs. The Passport Program broadens horizons by fostering global understanding, while the Suzuki Strings Program ignites a passion for music from a young age. Additionally, the MBA class for middle school students equips them with practical skills for the future.

We are immensely grateful for the enriching experiences our children have had at Southfield School. It's a place where they not only excel academically but also grow as individuals. Without a doubt, we give Southfield School five stars!

We have had an incredible experience from pre-school, to elementary and now middle school at Southfield. Our boys have truly developed a love for learning, and I love the fact that they get out of my car genuinely happy to go to school and they're still just as happy when I pick them up. I've enjoyed the cultural diversity of their friendships, the vast topics they learn about, and countless the opportunities to speak and perform in front of others.

The school and library have helped them develop into avid readers, and now they don't get into the car without a book in their hand! They are encouraged to be themselves, dive into things that interest them, bring ideas to the table, and it all starts with the way the school cultivates a love for learning through play in their pre-school years.

I used to laugh to myself when I would pick them up from school when they were little. I would ask them what they did at school that day they would say, "just played." I had volunteered enough and had gotten to know the teachers well enough that I knew it was so much more. But to them, they played all day. There was no pressure. It was all age-appropriate. It was everything they needed and they were thriving. I'd visited almost every other pre-school and kindergarten in town. I appreciated that at Southfield the child came first, not the arbitrary benchmarks. They were allowed to be creative, explore, go on adventures, and learn so much more through different experiences.

The environment at Southfield School is just as nurturing now as it was in those younger years. But, I believe, it was that foundation of learning through play and through experiences that my boys have developed a healthy, thriving life in and out of school.

I also can't fail to mention how incredible the faculty, staff and administration are at Southfield. They have a genuine love for the school and our children and it shines through all they do for our children and our families.

I highly encourage you to take a tour of the school, let your child shadow for the day and fully experience the Southfield Way.

I encourage you to schedule a tour and take a step on the campus and you will feel it instantly! It is a loving nurturing environment that perfectly instills a life long love of learning. The curriculum is challenging and the classroom sizes allow the teachers to teach to the individual. Tons of hands on learning. Students are taught not only how to test on the subjects but the actual subject matter. They are encouraged to be inquisitive and learn more than required. Numerous extracurricular options to reach all interests. The administration is always open to new ideas and parent involvement.

I think it is a fair balance and not too overwhelming. The teachers do a good job of assigning homework that helps reinforce what is learned in the classroom.

I cannot say enough good things about this school! I attended Southfield many years ago and wanted my child to experience it as well. The staff is all top notch. My child gets up every day excited to go to school. She comes home ready to share all about her day. She cried when summer vacation came, because she didn't want to leave her teachers and friends. The curriculum is challenging and they have many extra-curricular activities to choose from. The school plays and programs are always well done and entertaining. The school lunches are home cooked right there in the cafeteria. The grounds are beautiful and when you step on campus, it just has such an inviting and warm feeling. Everyone has a smile on their face. They truly practice what they preach- "Southfield, Developing a Life-Long Love of Learning." If you choose this school, you will absolutely not regret it. It is well worth the cost. If you are concerned about tuition, look into the option of variable tuition. The staff will work with you. They want everyone to be able to experience what this wonderful school has to offer. If you are considering it, just take a tour! My only complaint is I wish they had a high school, because we aren't going to want to leave after 8th grade! :)

We have excellent experience with Southfield. Our kids experience hands on learning, learn to participate and develop confidence. The school has successfully maintained a great family atmosphere and love for learning!

My two children attended this school and had a wonderful experience. They were well prepared for high school, and their high school teachers raved about how impressed they were with students coming from Southfield. Not only did they get an excellent education, but they were nurtured, challenged, and encouraged to be their best. It was worth every penny of the investment into their futures.

We have been at Southfield for the last four years, and we have had a wonderful experience. I know that my child is in a very safe and secure environment, and is receiving an excellent education. The teachers and administrators are caring and dedicated, and clearly interested in making sure ALL children are in an environment that foster's academic achievement and positive moral growth and development.

This school is highly overrated. My child attended this school and she hated it. Too many busy body parents vying for control and no leadership from the head master. The teachers are good, but they could be so much better if they didn't have to worry about catering to overbearing, difficult parents. This school lacks leadership in the worst way. Parents are allowed to bully students and teachers without suffering the consequences of their actions if they donate enough money to the school. Again, this lack of leadership fosters a poor learning environment when children are more concern for their safety than they are about learning mathematics or science. My abvice to any parent that is thinking about having their child attend this school is to save your money and have your tested for one of the Magnet schools. The best decision we made as parents were pulling our child out of Southfield and testing for magnet. Our child is happy and excelling at South Highlands. Your child will be challenge more at one the Magnet schools than at Southfield and you will have peace of mind knowing that some over zealous busy body parent isn't bullying your child with the tacit approval of admistration.
