There is no academically gifted program here, despite what they claim. They've previously included Spanish as a course, but my child never learned Spanish, and the class was taught by someone who had no college degree. They later changed the course to STREAM, then to STEM, but the class is merely filler, offering no substance. They got rid of the PTA facebook page, and essentially PTA - there is no longer any parent involvement whatsoever. Offers for involvement are repeatedly rebuffed, even if fully funded by volunteers. They repeatedly raise funds to improve their school and playground, with nothing to ever show for it. The school has become a stage for the principal to prance around in Disney princess outfits, forcing the kids to congratulate her on Principals Day for how great she is in her position. Children have not been able to do a Science Fair project for their school since at least 2017, despite there being two different classes on their schedule emphasizing science. What kind of school does not participate in the State Science Fair?! The entire AR program is convoluted, no emphasis on points earned but rather the thousands of words read as a class. And again - every student that would otherwise be considered academically gifted is pushed to the backburner. It is better to lower the standards of the school overall, than to make sure students who excel continue to grow academically.

I would say this is a good school. They are very engaged. Louisiana in general needs a better budget for schools, but I think Stockwell makes the best of it.

Such an AMAZING school! The faculty, staff and administrators truly care about the kids! The principal and assistant principal know my child and her needs. She loves going to school and adores her teachers! The office staff is super friendly and accommodating too! I would HIGHLY recommend this school!

They did back off on the amount of homework after the first year but I definitely had instances where they sent grades tests for me to review with my daughter because there “wasn’t enough time” to cover it in class. This consistently happened while she was in 3rd grade.

My daughter refuses to ask questions at her new school because her math teacher shut her down there. She was told that they didn’t have time to answer her questions. I mean, it’s their job.

I wouldn’t recommend this school to anyone. They put too much emphasis on test performance and not enough on developing and educating children.

Not only do the test scores prove this, but also the smiles on the students faces. How the students feel about coming to school and learning are much more important than test scores. There are always going to be a few who struggle and want to be anywhere else but at school, but the majority of the kiddos love the school. THIS is the true reflection of how the teachers are.

In some grades, the amount of homework is just right. In come grades, the amount could be lessened. My children have had some much needed homework that could have had the amount of problems reduced.

TROT is the school's motto. "Treat others respectfully, Reach for excellence, Obey safety guidelines, and Take Responsibility" are said each morning by students during the announcements. They even end with a "You are Awesome!" Teachers refer to these when praising and redirecting students.

I have had 2 children attend Stockwell Place Elementary. One is now in high school and the other is entering 5th grade this Fall. I would highly recommend this school! I have had the pleasure of serving on the PTO for many years, and I still serve. I cannot say enough about the wonderful family members who volunteer at Stockwell! They are the backbone of the many wonderful events offered to students, staff, and families each year. After serving as a substitute teacher for 2 years in almost every class at the school, I can say with confidence that the teachers are well organized and prepared to offer students an outstanding, cutting-edge education. In order for this to continue, funds are needed. Yes, the school asks for money at times. Money keeps classrooms supplied with necessary items, including current technology and assistive technology for those who require it. Money purchases copy paper, field day ribbons, flowers for staff who lose loved ones, class shirts for students who cannot afford them, play ground equipment, Chrome books, smart boards, current textbooks, buses for community learning events, start-up funds for much anticipated snack days and santa store, breakfast for students during state testing, lodging and admission for teachers who attend continuing education conventions, office supplies, ink for teacher/student copies, donations to the community, and the list goes on. This school is run by caring and compassionate leaders who have the students' best interest in mind when making every decision. At times, they need to tweak policies in order to keep the students safe. This includes changing up car line/after school pick up procedures after school has already begun, or calling off after school activities due to bad weather, and even doing away with rolling backpacks so students will stop tripping/getting run over. Many times misunderstandings (that lead to parental frustrations) could be cleared up with a quick phone call to the school office. This school is one of the best in the parish! Don't let a negative review keep you and your sweet child(ren) from becoming part of the Stockwell family.

We love Stockwell! My daughter looks forward to going to school there everyday. All of her teachers have been wonderful and the principal is very sweet. No complaints :)

Great school with courteous staff. I think the school could do for a bit of diversity in employing it's teaching staff. I'm very surprised the school board hasn't looked into this, but look where we are. Is it just me or do all the teachers seem as if they are going for the part of Ms. Squirrel from the movie Bad Teacher? On a serious note the school has taught my two children lots of things and I'm very thankful for that.

If you like chaos and lack of organization, then Stockwell Place is the school for you. It is non-stop changing of car-pool procedures, uniform rules, and pretty much any "standard" procedure that is documented in the handbook. Apparently when they ask you to review the handbook, they only mean it for a two week period because that is about how long it took before "new" procedures were implemented. And do they seriously think that announcing things on the intercom for the kids to hear is going to get relayed correctly to the parents if at all. After school clubs are routinely cancelled with no notification sent to parents in advance. I find out when they are calling me to come get my kids. The teachers are pretty average, we have not had a single one I would think of as outstanding and I have never once seen the principal when I've visited the school. I think she spends all of her time making up new rules just to confuse the hell out of everyone. This place just sucks.

Love SPE! All three of our children have attended Stockwell. We have been there for 11 years and our last child will be in 5th grade next year. It is a tight knit community- the teachers and staff LOVE these kids!

Stockwell teachers do a super job of keeping test scores high without "teaching the test." This is accomplished with the kids still having PE and recess every day! They really study and think about the best way to help children learn without resorting to busy work. These are some of the best teachers in the state. The entire faculty and staff have a positive, professional demeanor. People smile here!

Wonderful school, one of the best in Bossier City. It has quality teachers and small classes, so your child will recieve a great education. My daughter has attended Stockwell since Kindergarten, and she'll be in third grade next year. She reads at a 4.7 grade level, and loves her school. Every school asks for fundraising (it's always optional), but at Stockwell you can see where the money goes - back to the students. The school just built a new 5th grade wing, with an ART classroom, music room, and computer lab. It's the kind of school where everyone will know your child by name. Other good elementary schools in the area are Legacy and W. T. Lewis, but we love Stockwell. Hope this helps!

I too am aggravated with the CONSTANT request for money through fundraising at Stockwell. My child gets very upset when she cannot participate in the ridiculous stretch limo ride to Johnny's Pizza (or whatever is it) or the super party for selling so many items, but each time I have to explain to her "I don't have money to GIVE to the school!!" and neither do our neighbors!! I refuse to participate in any of them. I participate in the fundraisers that go towards helping others outside of the school, NOT Stockwell Elementary.

I don't mind fund raising if it benefits my child education, but in short time we have been attending this school they have asked for money serveral times a week. Also the kids seem to run the school, the teachers don't know how to handle group bullying. The bullying in this school is physical and steps have not been taken to control or deter.

We have been very happy with Stockwell! The school atmosphere is very positive. Children are greated every day with sincere smiles and often hugs. This love for the children continues when you see teachers in the community. We have been very happy with the clubs and extras offered to enrich every day. I wanted a private school for my children, but this was a fabulous, close knit alternative! Our child has excelled academically and socially at Stockwell.

Unfortunately my child did not have best experience with four years at Stockwell like others . We had one seasoned teacher who engaged my child and the rest were harsh, obnoxious, criticized a lot and tried to justify it by how many (too few) years they've been teaching. The other students picked up on this and bullied my child. The teachers are dealt with large class sizes and no aides to help. As well as a much focused strict uniform policy. I know the new schools in the district are good and the teachers are much happier people. I would highly recommend out of state families moving into the area to live in the Benton area. I lived in a desirable neighborhood to get into Stockwell and it's not worth the stress.
