I Should have read these reviews and listen to the people who went there before I moved here. This school is absolutely the worse when it comes to favoritism and definitely do not care as much as they say they do. Bullying is a thing here and everyone here turns the other cheek. I would never wish this school on anyone including my worst enemy,if I had any. Think twice before bringing your kids here to suffer.

This school is a great school. The teachers and staff are very helpful and caring to the students and toward the parents. If your child is in need of help, they will receive it here. The food is good and the cafeteria is clean and orderly, and the cafeteria staff is very nice. The grounds and school are clean. The school is old and in need of work (just some up keep and paint) but the office workers and the teachers are great. The teachers will work to get your child to do their best and most important they care about each child. Yes, sports are important, just like any other school. I have had a child at Anacoco and the staff didn't care that he was in need of help in math, all the visits and calls to the school got NO results but when my other child needed help in math at Hornbeck she received it, no problems. My belief is that Hornbeck is a better school than Anacoco because the teachers care about more than test results, they care about the student. Thank you Hornbeck!!

As a past student of Hornbeck High School I have a few things to say. First while students are encouraged to participate in sports there is no preferential treatment based on this. Secondly, like all schools there are teachers who are excellent and some who are a little less. As for the fine arts which are not offered, very few schools in the system have these programs because they are so small. Hornbeck High School has excellent test scores, as good as any in the parish, in fact the year I graduated, we had a higher percentage of 4.0 students and 3.5 and above students, than many of the schools in the parish including Anacoco High School. Like all things, you will get out of this school what you put into it, this includes the students working hard and interacting with the teachers so the teachers can better serve their needs, this also includes parents being actively involved in their child's education. All in all HHS is a great school and should not be looked down upon because of the fact that it is small. It is a very close-knit school and one that I am proud to be a graduate of.
