My child faces challenges & hes had the toughest time at University due, to the lack of staff not being educated concerning students with challenges. I was forced to place him at University & told my child had to attend the district school. Every year my child has faced some sort of discrimination due to challenges beyond my childs control.

I can't say enough good things about University Elementary School! I loved it so much with my oldest child that I didn't bother testing my youngest for magnet. The principal is top-notch, the teachers communicate well and sincerely care about each child, and the activities provided to the students encourage learning and socialization. My oldest has ADHD and the teachers have always been great about providing helpful feedback to me when I asked during med changes, etc. The PTA and front office staff are wonderful as well. Oh, and they have carpool (AM and PM) down to a science! It moves quickly and efficiently to get kids in and out of school (and parents to work in the morning!).

University Elementary is an amazing school! In a parish where magnet schools are pushed, we skipped the magnet test and sent our daughter here. She adores her school and has the most amazing teacher. The atmosphere at UES is joyful, positive, and a little magical. They take great pride is nurturing kind, well rounded little humans in addition to their excellent academics.

UES is an amazing school. From every teacher, custodian, and administration. They are inclusive and do their best by their students. They even have a ton of clubs for students to join after school (during non COVID years).

This is the best school in Shreveport. Wonderful staff, teachers, and administrators. The principal is amazing, working non-stop to make the school better and better. We are amazed that each year our children have been attending the school has been even better than the last.
This school is not just educating children for today, but building future leaders and citizens that will make this world a better place.

Public school education is a battle field.
Posted: April 17, 2018
Communication is lacking from administrators to parents which makes it difficult to handle even the most common and simplest school issues.

This first year was ok. The second year has uncovered a big bullying problem, disrespectful kids and a staff who do nothing about it. The principal will tell you "I don't do conflict" however when the staff who should be handling situations don't do so I feel the "leader" of the school has a duty to get involved. This school is all about making extra money and going over board. Last fall there was an event which turned into a circus with food trucks, media, breaking the guiness book of records etc. My child asked me "why can't they just do an activity for the kids without all the hoop la." I wonder the same. Some of the classes are out of control.......kids are loud and disregard the teachers instructions, are disrespectful and bully others. This makes for a very difficult environment to try to learn in hence my child's grades have plummeted. She used to be on the honor roll. Deaf ears all the way around.

Special needs children get the help they need here, and by teachers that care about them.
Posted: October 10, 2016
Again, poor disciplinary leadership, but the principal IS very involved and I like that. She helps with car line, drops in at PTO meetings, comes and HELPS at all of the events.
Posted: October 10, 2016
So many of the kids at this school have been rude to me at events. At the carnival, I gave some of my extra tickets ($5 worth!) to a child and she didn't even say thank you. When I said, "say thank you. :)" she rolled her eyes at me. Her das didn't say thank you either. As I've said before, kids aren't disciplined like they should be, neither at school or at home.

Teachers are as effective as they can be with a principal who does not adequately discipline the children who are repeatedly disruptive and uncontrolled.

The teachers at this school are great, and they really love the kids. While Mrs Maniero, the principal, is great at being involved and accessible, she is too easy on kids when they are perpetually disruptive or violent. The PTO president is very rude, and many of the activities run by the PTO are poorly organized and planned. The PTO often runs events only focused on how much money they can make, and not focused on the fact that they are doing it for the children to enjoy, no matter their income level. Parents are not involved at this school, by their own choice. SO MANY Parents of children at this school don't help their kids with homework, don't discipline their school or teach them manners- it's really very disappointing. Many are the type of parents who send their kids to school just to get rid of them and don't do anything to help their child succeed. Every year I try to test my child out of this school and I will continue to. I really wanted to like university but the terrible parents have ruined what could be a great school. Notice that most of the good reviews are from teachers- because they are the only ones that care.

This is my sin's first year at University and I'm very impressed. My son has never been excited about school, he'd always fake symptoms to stay home or beg to be checked out but now he never wants to miss a day.
Great reasons to go to this school.
1.The teachers make the children feel special.
2. If kids arrive early 7:30 they have the option to do art
3. The school promotes education in a fun manner
4.There are so many clubs... robotics, acting, soccer, running, boys club and di much more.
5. They have awesome fundraisers that fit your budget
6. The office is always kind and welcoming
7. Everything is always organized.
Special thanks to Mrs. Kelly and Mrs. Nelson for helping my son.

This school has the most incredibly RUDE staff!! From the car line all the way to the class from! Every day I leave angry at the way I've been treated. I just hope they treat the young children better than they treat the parents! WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!!

When the past Principal saw to University my child had wonderful years at U.E.S. & it was an excellent School! I must say there is no such thing as perfect teachers or a perfect Principal but, the new one act as though all the teachers are perfect. Teachers & Principals are human beings. When I complained about a specific teacher she immediately showed favoritism. I called to schedule a second conference & she did not return my phone call. The Principal sets the tone for University & if you are a new Principal trying to please the teachers & be friends with them instead of their boss. You're going to have an increase in Parent & Teacher conferences, more complaints, & you will bring what once was an excellent School to a School of dissatisfaction.

Not only do I teach at this wonderful school, but my children attend here as well. We love UES. The school has amazing teachers and staff. UES is a great neighborhood school that offers many extracurricular activities for the students to coincide with awesome academics.

University Elementary is an excellent school. I have taught at this school for 11 years and all three of my children have attended and excelled at University Elementary. This is a wonderful community and a caring and nurturing environment for children. University has awesome educators who are dedicated professionals. This school will forever be in my heart. I would recommend University Elementary to anyone who is searching for a wonderful elementary school for their child. This is a wonderful place for a child to grow and learn.

UES is a school with a high quality staff who really care for their students and work very hard to improve their academic skills. As a teacher observing other teachers, I am in insevices learning new ways to teach, listening to teachers share their ideas with others and watching these dedicated teachers stay after school preparing for the next day. Your children are in excellent hands at UES.

University is a great school to consider when choosing schools. There are various activities that your child can be involved in and the teachers here are phenomenal! My children thoroughly enjoyed the 5 years they spent here. Both of my kids a have moved on to secondary magnet schools because the education they received here was excellent! If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing!!!

UES is a wonderful neighborhood school in a delightful community. Although there are many students, the student to teacher ratio is low, allowing teachers to attend to students as individuals daily. The atmosphere at University is uplifting and inviting. Not only do students feel right at home in their classrooms and in the hallways, but the teachers and staff feel the same way, too. UES is truly a family environment, conducive to high academics and character development, as students learn and grow. As a teacher at UES who has yet to have children, I can only hope that one day, my kids experience a school, hopefully UES, that shares the same core values.

This has been a fantastic school. My husband grew up going to this school and now my son is in kindergarten. I heard nothing but wonderful things about the school prior to enrolling my son. They are always keeping parents in the know and have plenty of things to keep every week of the school year exciting for the kids! I am also on a fixed budget and I find the fundraising very affordable. The teachers/staff have been so kind and accommodating - not to mention I was surprised how well the buildings are kept up! (p.s. the play areas are awesome!) very safe neighboring area and the diversity of nationalities at the school is wonderful. I feel very lucky that my son has the opportunity to attend this school!

I love UES! I have four children that have attended or are attending this school. 95% of the teachers are fabulous. The staff is great. (I love Mr. Reynolds in security.) I feel fortunate that my kids began their education here!

I have two children at this school and i think it's great! The teachers are wonderful. The only negative is that there isn't an auditorium that is large enough for the student body. School wide assemblies just can't happen. Even though it is overcrowded the teachers and staff do a wonderful job! I would really reccomend this school.

I graduated from this school in 2007. The teachers were great and so was the principle. The only thing that I found wrong throughout my 5 years of attending this school is that the teachers treated the class clowns better than those who follow instructions and did their work. And i noticed that the PTA members children were treated a whole lot better than other students, and so was their grades compared to non-PTA members children.other than that, U.E.S is a 'GREAT SCHOOL.'
