I would not by any means recommend or condone anyone coming here. Especially if your military this school has a very specific type of people here and it shows! we were very much belittled and discriminated against my son still talks about how he was mistreated here it’s appalling he is only 5 at the time my heart aches for him. This is where dreams, hopes, and kindness go to die. Not a kind person in sight they’re as plastic as they come here ! I was glad to pull him out of such cruel and evil school!!

FTCA is a well rounded school with faculty and staff that treat all the students with love and compassion. I am very disappointed to read some of the reviews here, as I have never witnessed anything close to this. If you attend just one chapel, you can't help but the feel the love and compassion from the faculty. You are able to be involved as little or as much as you would like to. I love that we can eat lunch with our children and volunteer at the school. My son has improved leaps and bounds. His teacher is strict, but loving. She sets the bar high for her students and I am thankful for that! LOOOOOVE FTCA!

I was actually a student at FTCA for four and a half years (8th grade and high school), so I've got some first-hand experience here. Let me start out by saying that I have the utmost respect for the elementary school, which adheres strictly to the Abekka curriculum (both wonderful and challenging), and I feel like the kids enrolled there receive a pretty solid education. Both of my younger brothers were enrolled there, and both are sharp as a tack. I have a less positive view of the high school.

One, what previous reviewers are saying about students being able to get straight A's with minimal effort is one hundred percent true. There was almost no studying required, we never learned anything about how to write, our Spanish classes were dismal (at the end of two years of the course, the most anyone could say was "hola" and "gracias"), and science classes were a complete waste of time. I think they've revamped the math classes since I've graduated, so I can't say anything about that, but trust me when I say that this is not the place you want to send your kids if you want them to get a decent education.

Two, there are no AP or IB class options (so students are at a serious disadvantage at competing for top colleges upon graduation), and there are almost no electives offered. During my senior year, I had taken almost every class that they taught, so I was only in school for three hours a day. I am being absolutely serious.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, though, is the fact that bullying is definitely a thing at this school, and the staff are reluctant to do anything to stop it for fear of making the parents of students that have been at FTCA since its conception angry. This is poor business practice because most of the students that test well are Army kids who have only been there for a couple years, while the bullies are (most of the time) local kids who have been attending forever. The bullies pick on the good testers, the faculty refuses to do anything, and the good testers leave the school. It's a shame that something so cruel is happening at a school which professes to be Christian.

Base line: Don't send your high-school aged child here. Enroll them in one of the public schools around town--which have more opportunities--and get them involved in a youth group instead of FTCA.

Our youngest child has been attending FTCA for 4 years now & my husband and I wish we had sent our older children here as well. She is happy, challenged, and very busy with 4-H, BETA, & Leo Club. She takes art, music, & foreign language. Her standardized test scores are very high in comparison to other Louisiana students. She is able to receive TOPS & take college level classes as a high school student for credit. Basketball, softball, & track are offered as well. The facility is very nice, administration is professional & kind, and her teachers are on top of her education, academically & spiritually. I have cried & prayed many times in gratitude to the Lord as I've watched her grow closer to Him. (She sets her alarm to rise at 5am to read her Bible & she IS NOT a morning person!) I highly recommend this school!

I've had 2 children at this school for years. I've been thankful to have such loving, Christian teachers leading my kids each day. We have been blessed with wonderful teachers each year. My children are earning excellent grades and not only growing academically, but they are gaining good morals and ethics while in the company of their peers. It's important that what we teach at home is also taught while in school and FTCA does a great job of that. The school is clean, the administration is very sweet and never rude. Teachers CARE about the children. The principal has shown nothing but professionalism towards us. We have never asked for special treatment, but we know that to have our kids taught in such an environment, it's important for them to follow the rules and abide by regulations. If you want your pre-K - 1st grade child to PLAY all day, then yes, take them somewhere else. If you want them to be ahead of the game and ready to learn for the big years, then FTCA is PERFECT. FTCA is inexpensive when compared to other private schools around the country as well. It's a gem. Thank you, FTCA!

Faith Training Christian Academy is a great school which my children attended for almost two years before we moved out of state. The elementary school is strong academically, and when my children transferred to a highly rated Catholic school out of state, they were actually ahead of the game. This school does not tolerate behavioral problems that are repeated over and over, so I believe that many of the disgruntled comments on here are parents whose children failed to meet the standard, either academically or behaviorally. I, for one, am glad that they ask parents whose children are continually disruptive to remove their children from the school so that the other children can learn in a distraction-free environment.

I thank God for a loving environment and teachers who care at FTCA. If you are looking for a quality facility with experienced administrators, this school is for your family. What a great alternative to public school. I am praying for the teachers, the administrators, families and students. God bless you for all you do each day. Be encouraged!

Up until yesterday, I was very, very pleased with FTCA. My oldest son has attended FTCA since he was in Kindergarten, so I was very much looking forward to my youngest son attending also. All was good the first two weeks of school, as he had smiley faces on his reports every day...however things changed one week ago, when he acted up in class. I went in and spoke with the principal and also with my son (who is 4 years old) and we began working with my son on staying in his seat and being respectful. I was called in again a few days later and told that if he was unable to behave better, he would be kicked out. Well, although I was told we would work together and he would be given another week to see if he could continue to adjust, he was kicked out of school the next day. I am very unhappy with the way he was treated. This is K4, and I realize that my son cannot disrupt everyone, but how he went from nothing but great reports to being kicked out less than a week later is beyond me. If your child is not able to sit completely still, and not rock the boat at all, then this is not the place for them, as they will be kicked out and the school will keep the $325 resource fee!

I have two children who attend FTCA and they absolutely love it. The atmosphere is wonderful and the faculty and staff go way beyond what is expected of them. The facility is beautiful and is always kept neat and clean. If I had to sum it up in one word EXCELLENCE!!!! God gave them a vision and they took it serious. Thanks for your faithfullness FTCA!

I WISH I COULD RATE MORE THAN 5 STARS!!! FTCA HAS BEEN THE BIGGEST BLESSING WE HAVE RECIEVED WHILE LIVING IN LEESVILLE LA....THERE IS NOT ONE SINGLE THING BAD THAT WE CAN SAY BAD ABOUT THIS SCHOOL....OTHER THAN THE FACT THAT WE CANT PACK THEM UP AND TAKE THEM WITH US WHEN WE LEAVE!!!! THANK YOU FTCA FOR EVERYTHING! GOD BLESS!!!!!!!! I had two children in attendance at FTCA High School, I removed them both for the following reasons: My son is an average student, he detested this school because of the inequality displayed by the teaching staff and administration. He was also discouraged with the lack of Christian values displayed by teachers and students. He also wanted more choice in activities, which this school lacks. In his words, if you don t play basketball, you re doomed . My daughter is an A student, however, she was not being challenged at this school. When she took the ACT her math skills were shown to be lacking. I discovered that the HS Math teacher only had the students cover two chapters in the textbook for the entire year. I think this is unacceptable. My daughter was also very discouraged with the inequality and favoritism displayed at this school. The administration and staff shows favoritism to a select few because of their family ties. Attendance at this school costs top dollar but the educational value received by the students is not commensurate with the cost, they are more interested in paying for their new buildings than are in providing a solid education to the students. Dissappointing!

Much of what is stated on this website is true the good and the bad. I sent two children to this school, one in elementary and one in high school. My high school student was not challenged at all. She received straight A s all year without ever bringing a book home. I would ask her about how she liked the school and she would tell me she loved it because it was so easy. I had a real problem with that because although she is very intelligent but she should not be cruising through high school so easily. My other child in elementary had an awful time in this school. The elementary teacher was a nightmare. She was the type of teacher who retaliated against the student, not because of any disagreements between us. We were very cordial to her and tried to support her but she had a hard time teaching our child. She was very inflexible and would not change her style of teaching to support our child s learning needs. It finally got to the point where she just did not want our child in her class.

Continued .Not because the child was disrespectful or a discipline problem, which she admitted the child was not, but because she could not or didn t want to take the time to teach the child. This is where all the fundamentals of Christianity went out the window. Every small problem was sent to the principle to handle to build a case that it was the child and not the teacher who was failing. When I state small problems I mean things like forgetting a homework assignment, or reading a book before the bell rang for class instead of doing classwork. These things should be handled by the teacher not the principle. Now looking back I wish I would have just sent both of them to the public school. It would have saved me a ton of money because the tuition for this school is ridiculous. I also believe they would have received a much more rounded education in public school.

I read past reviews before sending my children to FTCA and they were good. Things have changed drastically in the past year and a half. They have a new elementary principal and it has been terrible. Absolutely true about teacher retaliation. If they are unhappy with the parent for any reason the child is punished through subjective conduct grades or being ignored. There is zero communication with the teachers. The teachers just do not feel it is necessary to let the parent know anything they are working on and yes it is true that books are kept at school and it is extremely difficult to help your child. I have begged for a simple monthly syllabus and cannot get one! The teachers seem to feel they are too busy with the tedious curriculum to take time to do creative activities or make a calendar for the parents. This has been the most difficult few years I have ever encountered and cannot believe that they will be in business if they do not make some drastic changes in the near future. It is a fortress of silence and much like a military school. Very strict and unrelenting. Not happy at all, in fact sad for my children. Unfortunately public schools are worse!

This is a great school. The teachers are dedicated to the students' academic and spiritual growth. My daughter attended FTCA for three years and received a wonderful education. We have recently moved to Sugar Land, TX and she is attending 3rd grade in one of the most competitive public schools (ranked 10 in Great Schools Score), and her teacher told me that she is testing beyond her grade level in reading and math. FTCA has a superior reading and writing curriculum and I highly recommend this school because of it.

I have five children that are currently attending FTCA. It is true that there is little to no communication from the teachers. The kids are not allowed to bring their books, that we paid for, home...with the exception of the reading book. I have no idea what my kids are working on in their subjects. The principal will tell you what you want to hear while you are in her office, but will quickly call and dismiss the plans that were set in order. It appears that the teachers are there for a gravy job and not really there to educate young minds. My children will soon be moved to another christian school. It is also true that they will harrass your kids if you call the school on something....very true indeed.

The two negative reviews on here are so untrue. I could never see the teachers taking it out on the students. Any unsuitable teacher would be handled by the administration quickly. I was a student at FTCA for several years. If it helps to hear it from the student's point of view, here it is. FTCA changed my life! Public school was a daily misery to me. When I first came to FTCA, I was instantly welcomed by the staff and quickly made friends; people that I am still friends with to this day. In regards to the non-certified comment, I beg to differ. Most of the teachers are retirees from the public education. All teachers in jr high/high school are certified educators. I have never met more loving and caring people in my entire life. I just can't imagine it without FTCA. It's amazing to go from a public school system to FTCA where the teachers really care about you and will go above and beyond their job. I can't count the number of times they did special things for us like Spring Banquets, Senior Days, and many many other occasions.

Continued... FTCA High School is also a Louisiana State certified high school. I graduated from FTCA and am currently attending college thanks to my high school diploma from FTCA. I have also received TOPS and grants. In reference to the comment about there not being a nurse on the school grounds, that is also untrue. The full-time lunchroom director is an LPN. Please, don't let the comments of one or two people sway you from putting your kids here. You don't want them to miss out on this. Trust me, you're talking to an alumni. I know this is a long comment but I want to be absolutely sure that you know that I can't recommend this school highly enough.

I totally agree with the person below. The teachers communication with the parent is horrible , and yes they will call your child a liar at any chance they get .My child is five and cry's every morning because of this school they have her so nervous that she is not going to do something right .and yes they will punish your child as said below if you come to them about an issue and they feel that you are wronging them .I am pulling my child from this school as is another person I know.

I need to be honest here and inform people looking into this school to have some facts not just opinions on this school. The teachers do NOT have to certified with the state. There is no nurse/medical personnel on the school grounds. If something happens, the principal and teachers try to deal with the child...NO NURSE is not a good asset. I have children in this school and I have had a few problems with them. Like I said before this is NOT my opinion these are facts. The buses are sometimes overloaded and children sit on their bookbags in the aisle...whena problem arises with a student and the teacher does not like what was said to them they prefer to take it out on the child in ways of skipping their turn when it is time to read and calling the children liars. They are not a true Christian School.

We are a military family and were stationed at Fort Polk, LA. Our daughter went to FTCA for two years, and she loved it. We moved to Virginia and the only thing we miss about Louisiana is the Faith Training Christian Academy. FTCA provided our child with education that cannot be compared to many expensive private schools here in Virginia or Washington DC. FTCA teachers are loving and caring. The school is so great that my husband considers to take a position at Fort Polk, that will require a 15 month deployment to Iraq, but he thinks to have our child back at FTCA is worth it. We loved the school, we miss it, Please make it you priority to visit the school, I KNOW YOU WILL FEEL THE SAME.

This is a great Christian School to have children attend and learn. I have several children at FTCA and have no complaints. The administration staff is very supportive and have wonderful outlooks for the best interest of the students and the parents. The cost is competitive to other private schools. If parents have concerns, even on resourse fees, just talk to the principals. They get straight on the issues and address them promptly. The moral is great. They have great teachers with a lot of love for children. There is even a good parent volunteer program. Also, they are in the process of building a gym to expand into other opportunities for the students. They have High School State Accreditation now. The 2009 graduating class was small, but on a percentage rate, majority had academic scholarships based on high ACT scores. I highly recommend this school to anyone of interest.
