Don't let the Ads fool you I wouldn't let my dog go to school here , The education suck your better off teaching your child yourself, No professionalism, NO ORGANIZATION AT ALL, no communication between teachers and parents whatsoever the teachers are either being messy, having a rude attitude , or listening to NBA YoungBoy. The teachers don't care about your child education AT ALL there is about maybe 2 teachers that might actually care , Half the time the teachers are not even in the classroom teaching the children its all about a check to them. They expect the children to score high on the Leap test and etc but haven't taught them anything all year make it make sense. They barely have teachers most the time they have young subs in the classrooms playing on they phone or sometimes they cant find a sub or teacher and they just have to pass your child because no one was literally there to teach them anything all year its ridiculous. I ask my child everyday what she learned and she says the something every single time....NOTHING. Barely any parents participation because there is no communication I don't be knowing what's goin on because they don't send anything home. Transportation is horrible the bus could be 30-45 min late but u wouldn't know because they send the message out to late. They never have bus drivers they have to put other kids from other buses all on 1 bus. Then one time the bus was already late and they said the bus would pick your child up that morning but u would have to pick your child up in the afternoon yourself because they wasn't providing it .The lunch is trash one time they gave my child a half frozen burger with stale fries the food is so nasty that the kids be DoorDashing there food but the office sent out a message saying they couldn't. That's how you know the food disgusting. Your child could literally be walking by minding they business and if something pop off and your child is around they will suspend your child as well ,even when they roll the cameras back and see your child doing nothing but because your child was near they still suspend your child as well its sad. My child was absent but they marked her as skipping class or your child can turn in they excuses and they dont even put them in now the people calling me tryna send me to court cuz they ain't doin they job. THEY REALLY NEED TO SHUT THIS SCHOOL DOWN yea the school look nice but they pull the teachers and admin staff out a crackerjack box.

When I was first at this I didn't think of it until I hit 7th grade then stuff changed write pentagrams on the windows and fights and discrimination happend non stop so don't take your kids to this school.

Worst school in Shreveport. The staff cares very little, if any, about student success. They are there for only a paycheck.

I decided to attend the upper campus thinking it was a great school due to all the ads. Wrong. Academically, it was horrible. When my parents asked what I learned, I had nothing to say, unlike at my old schools.

Most core classes had subs because the real teachers quit or had emergencies. By second semester, we got LEAP practice tests with stricter time limits than the ACT. Algebra felt like Greek, and English I made me feel slow. I panicked and studied for the last three months I had before the official LEAP.

I only passed the real LEAP because I studied myself, I’m confident I scored 750+ on everything as my English I score has alreayd come in. Without my studying, I would’ve failed.

I’ve moved a lot and attended schools in different states, so I’m used to being second or third best, not the highest scorer throughout my classes like I am here. That says a lot. I literally got called a “wannabe smart person.” That’s how much none of the students here care about academics.

My English teacher even said most students were behind. I tested this by purposely writing a messy essay with errors, and they gave me a 60/50. I reread it months later, and it was awful.

Socially, high school isn’t bad. I came from online school due to bullying, and they push the “no bullying” motto. High schoolers are generally respectful, but fights happen often, especially with freshmen. We got banned from homecoming one week due to daily fights.

The bus situation is a different story. High schoolers share buses with loud, immature middle schoolers. I stayed quiet, but two people (middle schoolers) blocked my seat and made comments about me constantly whenever they did. I stood up for myself, and of course, it turned into drama. That was the only bullying I experienced.

Do I recommend this school? Depends. If your child loves teaching themselves, breezing through easy classwork, and studying hard after school to make sure test scores match their grades—go for it. If not, don’t. And if you’re a student? Don’t come here if you hate studying. Teachers won’t remind you or even tell you to. You’ll need Khan Academy, YouTube (Crash Course is fire), and a lot of self-motivation to survive the LEAP or ACT.

One last note for parents, there is barely any parent participation. Only a few student’s parents even attend the parent-teacher conferences.

I almost got hit several times in an ongoing fight.I do not feel safe at this school.Teachers are fine.over 20+ fights in 2022.

Experience at this school would be rated a 2/5. Although my child excelled academically. This was not due to the school nor the environment. Every time I visited the campus there was chaos. The front office/administration are rude and very unhelpful. Very basic level education nothing worthy of "Excellence". There is no exclusivity for enrollment either. It is a lottery pick. I personally know students who were failing at other schools and severely behind the curve who were allowed entry.

We just moved here from Rapides parish and my girls ABSOLUTELY love this school. They are awesome teachers that love them as much as my girls love them. My girls have flourished in their academics. I am very disappointed that there are such negative things said about the lower campus when it has nothing to do with the upper campus and the upper campus is what gives MAGNOLIA a bad rep. We LOVE Magnolia and I hope that the upper campus can get on board and become as good as the lower campus. #MarinerPride

My daughter was constantly picked on at this school and made fun of. She got to the point she would cry everyday I dropped her off. I met with teachers and the counselor and they blew the issue off like it didn’t matter because it wasn’t the same student all the time doing it. I withdrew her and put her in ShreveIsland she blossomed overnight! The administration is horrible and communication is very little. I don’t see this school staying open much longer. Most of the students act like they are going to a private school along with the parents and the truth is they would never make it in one due to their manners and actions!

My son is completing his last day of kindergarten at this school today. We have loved this school. Yes, the first couple of weeks were hectic. The car pool lanes were crazy, but this school does not have busses so that was to be expected. All that is trivial to me, I am more concerned with the educational component. My son began reading in kindergarten before some of his peers at Caddo Parish schools (some that are ranked high within the Great Schools website). He has 1 semester of French and 1 semester of Spanish. His class size averaged 16 kids all year long. There were 5 kindergarten classes total. Each had small class size. I think most Caddo Parish Kindergarten classes have at least 22 or 23. This allows the teachers more time for individualized instruction. All of the teachers and staff are highly dedicated to this school. Many can be seen working on the weekends on their own time to help make their school the best. The parents are very involved. The parent teacher cooperative is very active and plans several events throughout the year. I really do not think my son would have received an individualized attention in our neighborhood kindergarten in Caddo Parish.

It's different than the schools we are used to, as far as free public schooling. Magnolia offers student based learning, one on one teaching, and small classes. The parental involvement must be high and is high and that is a big plus!! The teachers are happy and passionate about what they do; which is also another thing that many of our other local schools do not have. Several enrichment options are available. Someone posted earlier about not having smart boards and textbooks. The classes I have been in have those (I have three attending different grades), so I am unsure if someone posted that based on speculation or if they truly withdrew a child because the first two weeks of a BRAND NEW SCHOOL (which we haven't had in over 20 years) were a little hectic. But it only took a couple weeks for everything to smooth out. The hard work, dedication of the staff and teachers proved that not relying on a beauracracy is the way to go! As far as bus service goes, I'm willing to drive to make sure my kids have an excellent education. If you want to remain dependent on others for your child's learning and safety stay -- in the CPSB schools.

Moagnolia is the best in Shreveport when it comes to striving for excellence in every way - in education as well as childhood development overall. I love the administration as well as the teachers. They are highly qualified and genuinely care for the children. Although the school is still getting organized, it is a wonderful new opportunity for our children.

I have a third grader at this school and while this school is brand new and has hiccups that anything that is new will have, I find his classroom setting conducive to learning and each day he tells me more and more about what he learned. The curriculum seems rigorous and challenging and so far my family has no complaints. The parents that are complaining about no bussing clearly did not research the school prior to enrolling. It was clearly stated on the website.

I have a kindergartener and first grader at magnolia. Their classrooms are both very well-equipped, and much more advanced from the previous neighborhood school where they were enrolled. I'm a teacher, not at Magnolia, and have been really impressed with their rigorous curriculum. Magnolia is an awesome alternative to Caddo magnet schools.

It's still early to just give an overall rating, the only con is no transportation which conflict with picking up my other kids at a different school! If they don't include it for the next school year, I will have to drop my kids and aim more towards a magnet program! I live a good distance from the school, but I'm willing to stick it out this school year!

My experience of having a child in kindergarten couldn't be better. My child goes to school happy and comes home happy. There are only 16 students in his class w a teacher who's credentials are outstanding. There are four computers in the classroom and a bathroom. He has come home talking about "leaders", this is an example of conceptual teaching where they take a concept such as a "leader" and proceed to talk about different leaders throughout history. He was very excited to tell me about George Washington. He does science experiments, music class, French. He has new playmates and they are precious.if you have a child entering kindergarten next year, I highly recommend getting in on the ground floor and considering enrolling them.

Magnolia is not ready........missing smart boards and text books. Many parents withdrew their children after experiencing the total lack of professional education expectation after only 1 week of school. There are many miles to travel before this school will be a school of excellence. All the great publicity ended up being a bait and switch. So very disappointed.

Excellent school so far. Staff is organized, friendly, and well trained. Our child is going from a public school of 1200+ students K-6th to one around 650. Enrichment available in art, computer lab, music, foreign language (French, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese), and P.E. All have enrichment specific teachers with years of experience. Brand new facility. Emphasis on parental involvement and volunteering. Best part, they are not governed by the ineptitude that is the Caddo Parish School Board. First post should be removed as it was clearly written before school opened and is a fake.

Magnolia is a brand new school and the first day for any attendance was August 12th, 2013. So I find it interesting that the above review was posted on the 8th of August.This beautiful new school is filled with some the best teachers in Shreveport who want to make a difference in kids lives. There are no buses at this school. You have to sign a parent contract that states you must volunteer 20 hours a year. We have had a wonderful experience so far and look forward to receiving an excellent education at Magnolia!!
