This school sucks. Never send your kid here unless you want your kid to be bullied and harassed by both students and teachers. Constant fights and racism, homophobia, ableism, mostly from the students. The teachers are rude and make students cry and the consulars dont do anything to help the students. The school itself is also dirty and digusting. I wish I never went here.

This school sucks. The kids and teachers are horrible and students who get bullied dont get any help from the consulars, the consulars are basically useless. Theres fights everyday, students are mean. DO NOT send your child to this school EVER. Unless you want your child to feel suicidal.

I was at this school for two years and it was hell. I was bullied and constantly harassed by other students for supporting lgbtq and Ive spoken out about it to teachers and my counselor didnt do anything about it. I made a 504 with my counselor and that did help a little but in regards of speaking to other students about their behavior and how they treated me, I spoke with her multiple times and I dont think she ever talked to those students because the harassment never stopped. And when it didnt stop I spoke with her again and again and it never did. She swears that she spoke to them but Im not sure. Also, it wasnt just the students thought they all were horrible. I mean, fights everyday, bullying of students who were different, specifically lgbtq students, the students used racial slurs and didnt really behave in the classes. I had a Spanish class where we never did anything and the teacher just told us the answers so I didnt even learn any Spanish and the reason is because everyone in the class never behaved, and the teacher just gave up and never did anything. Also, my gym teacher for one year was horrible. He would make jokes about womens bodies to the whole class and yeah I guess it was funny but its inappropriate for a grown man to make jokes about womens butts to a class filled with 12 year olds. There was this one time where, and Ill admit I wasnt really paying attention but we were practicing throwing volleyballs on the walls and I guess I was doing it wrong and he (the whole year by the way, he was always just kind of mean to me but nicer to the other popular students) he came up to me and yelled at me at the top of his lungs in front of the whole class saying things like I will never have a good future and that i wont turn out to be anything good in life. This deeply affected me because I was already going through a lot of personal problems in my personal life at home and with my mental health. That pe teacher made me cry. And after that, he used me as an example to the other class which made me feel worse. I get that I wasnt paying attention but he didnt have to be so cruel. This school barely did things to help me, they could never control their own misbehaving students and even their teachers werent helpful at all.

F. S. K MS is a really great school. The teachers are amazing and kind. There are a lot of after-school activities (i.e, cooking, basketball, soccer) and the teachers really want the things that they are learning here to impact their life even after school. For the special education, though, there's a lot of people who use "your're ED" and it might be offensive and hurt the people who actually have disabilities. I also think the teacher's don't offer much support and if you'd ever want to go to the nurse, they would be like "you're fine." when they can't really understand. Overall, Key is a really great school, as long as you don't mind the dramatic atmosphere and busy halls.

This is most likely one of the worst schools in Maryland. I go here and constantly have to deal with the teachers doing nothing about the fights and the students mental/physical health. All they care about is their reputation and deserve none of the attention they get. This is a horrible school with VERY biased teachers. Many teachers I've met have made homophobic/racist stereotypes and/or comments. hey have a horrible security team and pushes students to their limits when it's not even needed. Teachers constantly compare you to other students and pick favorites. The school has a bad bullying problem and does nothing about it. Is someone getting cyberbullied? Oh well. I've been kicked out of classes for "picking fights" with the teachers when all I was doing was correcting their mistakes.

Between one overbearing assistant principal and an assistant school administrator who seems too scared of the students to use proper discipline, like when they cheat, they are definitely NOT developing strong character at that school.

Since the staff was not doing much at all to help our son, my husband and I insisted on having a parent-teacher conference (involving the assistant school administrator) during the first semester to hopefully stop his cheating once-and-for-all. During the conference, most of his teachers denied his plagiarism in their classes and I was insulted by a teacher stating that I was the reason he was plagiarizing. She claimed I was too hard on him when he did his assignments at home. I don't remember her ever being in our home. We even had proof that our son copied and pasted a lot throughout the first semester but they still denied everything. We did more-than our part, why didn't they do theirs?

If it were easy enough send to our son to another school in the area we would. It was an incredibly long and stressful year. Thanks to his teachers and the administrative staff, he has lost a lot this past year with his academics, integrity, compassion and respect.

Although he is very smart my son spent a good part of this year copying and pasting his assignments. What he did was the very definition of plagiarism. When his English teacher first pointed it out to us at the parent-teacher conferences (during the first month of school) she said she gave him a zero on that assignment. At first, my husband and I were pleased she was taking it seriously enough to discipline him for it. However, that was not really the case after all.

Unfortunately for him, his plagiarism was never reported outside of class and he continued to plagiarize in almost all of his other classes. Long story short, the discipline never went beyond a zero for those assignments (if even that) so he continued to plagiarize throughout the rest of the first semester and, at times, during the second semester.

My son is gifted and has been kept challenged and engaged throughout his time at key. His teachers are enthusiastic and professional, the administrators are responsive, and his counsellors helpful. We feel very fortunate to be in the FSK area.

I am overwhelmingly happy with the experience my daughter has received at Francis Scott Key Middle School. The teachers are invested in each child learning inside and outside of the school. The music program is equal to a music magnet. Specially the Choral program, very challenging and rewarding at the same time. My daughter transferred in the middle of the year due to unexpected challenges at her prior school however my daughter was able to assimilate with no issues partly because of the teacher involvement. My daughter is very pleased with the school as well and looks forward to going to school each day to learn and interact with his new friends. Also I witnessed a substantial improvement in my daughter's grades and willingness to participate in afterschool activities offered. The staff are well organized considerate and very approachable as well. I am totally looking forward to this school year...Go F.S.K. !!!Keep up the great work!!!!

This is a great school it ,provides great economy skills and gives the students there own little bank which shows them how to save (money) key cash so when they grow up they know how it works.

I love my school. It is fun and amazing. We do many activities for kids who are good. We have renaissance day and many more things. Most the teachers and staff are really nice. We have a few teachers who are really strict, but nobody really minds them. Our teacher teaches us based on or knowledge and if we are ahead of the class. They pay attention to the individual student. Our school could improve with the students, some of the students may be off hand but that's only about 5% o the school. So it is a very good school but the students need to improve and we ned less teachers who like to scream.
