Simply AWFUL as diverse as the community is the cooperation with assistance is literally ridiculous. From a Lack of attention to unnecessary attitudes I wouldn't send my children if there were another option. Would HIGHLY NOT recommend

This school barely has any subs sometimes you got to split up classes to other grades and they always mess up the important stuff for events for the little kids.

Based on my experience with this school, the staff is welcoming and is extremely passionate about the students. The students are eager to get to school in the morning. The staff greets each child as they enter the building in a friendly manner. The leadership knows the students' names and make parents feel welcome whenever there is a need.

My experience: The principal had zero empathy for a child who was severely bullied. She literally did nothing. Not even a suspension for an extremely violent physical attack.

Sad that she did not realize the same violent attacker will be an adult roaming her cold streets in a few more years.

Most of the teachers are mediocre to say the least. Standards are extremely low. Not a good school.

My child witnessed the principal on several occasions , not being empathetic or compassionate to a child with special needs. She was down right disrespectful and combative to the young child. She instead used her authority and humiliated the child in the hallway in front of everyone several times. Oblivious to the long term traumatic effects this would have on the child being berated and the other children watching her tactless and vile behavior.

Leadership at Bladensburg Elementary school in Maryland is non existent. It's a free for all with no professionalism or integrity building rules.

Teachers are screaming, non empathetic or professional staff an principal.

Children learn by example and if respect and compassion isn't displayed on a daily basis from the principal or staff, it honestly is NEVER developed in the students.

Seriously, this is a problem at Bladensburg Elementary school, that should be handled with professionalism and training for the principal/ staff involved in displaying such weak character.

Other schools have highly ranked professional teachers. Nothing special happening over at Bladensburg Elementary.

Most of the Teachers who have not ran away are mediocre at best. Educational requirements are not being met. Teaching wasn't even the desired job profession of many of the newer so called teachers. Breathing seems to be the main requirement to get hired at Bladensburg Elementary school !!!

My son attended this school for 2 years before we moved and I thought that is was such a great school. The front office staff is excellent. The receptionist has been there since I was in kindergarten and she still is the same. Everyone there goes out of there way. I think that alot of people are complaining on here about bullying but I think that the school does everything that they can to prevent it. The main problem is the parents and you cant blame the school for that. The school makes the parents feel welcome. You are able to "check in" on your child at any time. I just dont have anything bad to say. Great School!!!!!!!

I really wanted to give this school 0 stars as a rating, but I had to give a 1 star rating. Unfortunately my children had the experience of attending this school. Rats,bugs and unbearable staff. I agree with the parent who posted in 2005. Bladensburg has a huge problem with Bullying. The last days of the 2011 school year, there were 3 fights happening at the same time, on and near the school property. I personally went to a group of kids once who were about to fight and discouraged them from fighting. I suggest that the principal and counselor/s should have school assemblies several times a year with each grade level to talk about this terrible problem. They should encourage good behavior with rewards also. Don't wait until someones child is violently attacked and then speak to one class at a time. The payed recess monitors also need to pay close attention to the violence that happens during recess. Stop turning the blind eye to this. Innocent children go to school to learn and then are attacked while doing so. I was extremely happy when my children no longer went to this poorly managed school.
