As an anonymous graduate, I'd give Blade a 3/10. I do not recommend going there nor do I recommend sending your child there. It looks like a five floor prison inside and out. Mean, academically underprepared, incompetent students and unwilling, incomprehensible, and often times ridiculous staff both teacher and assistant principal. They attempt to reach out to families for meetings but they do it hours before said meeting and giving little time and options to parents who are working or studying. Blade is constantly under prepared and the students suffer because of their lack of organization. Because of this, I did not get a senior trip. Not to mention all of the fundraising is because of their lack of readiness and insanely overpriced. We had a fundraising for our senior package two years after all of the other schools in our neighbouring counties. Despite raising hundreds of dollars, I still had to pay for a senior package that included lackluster merchandise. It cost ~170 for that when I expected much more. The security for Blade is ridiculous. Giving attention to students wandering the hall than through metal detectors and giving attention to students who they are comfortable with knowing they should be in class. If anything, they are encouraging them to skip.

As a concerned parent, I feel compelled to share my experience with Bladensburg High School. Unfortunately, my child has had a very negative experience at this school, and I do not feel that the environment is supportive or inclusive.

There appears to be a serious lack of support for students, particularly those from diverse backgrounds. My child has repeatedly expressed feeling unsafe and unwelcome at school. The teaching methods seem ineffective, and there is a noticeable lack of professionalism and respect from some of the staff.

One of the most disappointing issues has been the repeated denial of my child’s attempts to join the soccer team. He is very passionate about the sport and has tried multiple times to be part of the team, but he feels that he is being excluded due to racial or cultural bias. It is deeply troubling to see a student with genuine interest and talent being denied the opportunity to participate.

The overall school environment does not feel inclusive or safe for students who are not originally from the area. As a parent, I am deeply concerned about the well-being and education of my child, and I sincerely hope that the administration takes steps to address these issues.

The best school ever the teachers are good the students are so good they respect the rules just everything is good.

This school was absolutely horrible. My son had a talk with me and said that the teachers aren’t teaching anything. He even went as far as to tell that they made him want to die.

I moved to another county just to get my daughter out of that school . The environment is not conducive to healthy learning. My daughter was afraid everyday to go to school. The faculty that I met were unprofessional and lacked care and concern for the students. I don't like how the kids are treated like criminals instead of people. The morning routine of lining up and checking uniforms reminded me of a prison. Also there is not much in the area of extracurricular activities in comparison to other schools outside of the county. This is so unfortunate because there are some immensely talented students in that school that are not given a chance. There is also such great untapped potential in all of those students.

This school is amazing. the people are amazing. All these lies about it being bad are just that, lies. this school offers a lot and i believe its a great fun school

Teachers are very lazy.. Almost everyday there is a substitute teacher. Substitute teacher doesn't know anything therefore we just sit and look play around with our smart phones.. Students are always fighting .. Students assault other students.. Blade burg staff don't care

Bladensburg is not the best school- compared to the other schools in the area it really fall flat in comparison. However, as a student that graduated last year, I can say that despite it's many flaws, there is something good about it. The staff does care. True there are a few that don't care about their students or just ignore them, however, as my AP World History teacher told me once, compared to one of the more prestigious schools, the teachers at Blade care much more to improve their students. Blade isn't as funded as other schools, and it's a bit lacking, but the teachers that work with the students are very very helpful and are excellent guides. If your child attends, be watchful. Despite another's reviewer, my little brother was attacked by a gang and fights are not rare on campus. It isn't in the best area, but as long as they're careful nothing should happen. The biomedical program is very difficult, but if your child decides to go into it, all of the biomed teachers are excellent help.

This school is a great school for your kid to go to, there are a lot of school activities. Some parents just say stuff to scare other parents off from letting your kid from going there. But there are not alot of gangs or fights at this school. My kid loves this school and they would rather go to this school than any other school. The teachers are great and care about how the kids do and the principal is good also. As other people say that there is alot of drugs in this school its not more than any other public school in pg county and it is a great opportunity for your kid to go to this school it will teach them how to get along with other kids and how do start there life as an adult. i would recommend this school to any parent for there child. and every year the school is getting better in every way.
