My daughter is a freshman here and is having a wonderful experience. The teachers so far are engaged and the school over communicates information to parents. So far so good.

My daughter is in the aerospace program. She loves the teachers in her program and her classes. One problem…. a Mrs Charlene Clark and her despicable abuse of power. She is not a part of the aerospace program. She is a special education teacher that doubles as a self assigned hallway monitor. She has yelled in my daughter’s face, blocked my daughter from getting in her locker - I do mean physically blocked her using her body…., yelled insults at her in the hallway among other things. These are just three things that I can prove. The whole truth is the list is even longer. I learned that my daughter was being targeted and reported it to the school. Make no mistake this is happening to other students as well. It has been witnessed. I’m hoping I see improvement. Please report any misbehavior. See something say. I hope this helps someone else.

My kids are doing great at this school. The teachers really care, are professional and will work with you to help your child reach their educational goals. You have to reach out to them and they are responsive. They have good AP courses and many programs for students. But it is unfortunate that it still has its old reputation. The school has really turned around in the last ten years. We have only had good experiences there. I haven't had any issues with the administration and the kids love the events they have at the school for them.

My Experience there was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had during my time at PGCPS. The teachers weren’t very engaging. Kids thought I was odd. This one senior dude was making senior remarks at me and was harassing me. I got beat up every time I get off the bus. I cried everyday in my sleep. The final straw was someone attacked me while I was getting out of class and the school did nothing about it. I don’t want anyone with learning disabilities to go that to school at all. Worst high school ever

This is a bad school. Some of the teachers are good, some are bad. The big problem is the administration, counselors, and principal.

Posted: August 26, 2020

Some teachers do not even grade the homework.

Posted: August 26, 2020

The good teachers are not appreciated by the school principal. There is a lot of teacher turnover.

Posted: August 26, 2020

Let me start with the staff. The admin staff is rude. Counselors are unresponsive and careless...

Posted: August 26, 2020

There is a lot of preferences in this school. There is not leadership, the school does not care about students.

Posted: August 26, 2020

You can not even contact a counselor.

I am the proud parent of two enrollees of DuVal High School. My son graduated from DuVal in 2011, and my daughter is currently enrolled there as a 9th grader. I have only witnessed greatness between the students, faculty, and other support staff members. The bottom line is, "NO" school is perfect, not even private schools (which both of my kids have attended).
Unfortunately, some people just listen to what others are only assuming... at best, then perpetuate the myths, untruths, and propaganda. DuVal High School is a great school! Stop hating and criticizing on the kids and faculty... this is what they have, and they are doing darn good with what they have! Let's help lift them up, not bring them down! Thank you

I am a student that currently attends duval. It is not a bad school in all honesty. People talk down on the school & don't know what actually goes on. The teachers, well most, are very helpful and willing to set you up for success. I am class of 2016 and so far I think it's a great school.
