As a father, Ive been very impressed with this elementary school and the direction its heading.
The teachers are dedicated and genuinely care about their students. They take the time to really know each child recognizing their strengths, supporting their growth, and making sure they feel safe and valued. Its clear they care about more than just academics; theyre helping shape confident, well-rounded kids.
The school promotes an inclusive environment where students feel welcomed and respected. There are also meaningful opportunities beyond the classroom that allow kids to grow, build leadership skills, and explore their interests.
Since the current principal stepped in, theres been noticeable progress. Communication has improved, expectations are clear, and theres a strong commitment to raising the bar and moving the school forward. Its reassuring to see leadership that is truly invested.
Overall, this is a school community that cares and that makes a difference.

As a parent, I have been truly impressed with this elementary school and the positive direction it continues to move in.
The teachers are dedicated, caring, and deeply invested in their students. They take the time to genuinely get to know each child recognizing their strengths, supporting areas for growth, and ensuring students feel safe, protected, and valued. Its clear that the staff prioritizes not only academic achievement but also social-emotional development and character building.
The school fosters an inclusive learning environment where all students feel welcomed and respected. Diversity is embraced, and there is a strong sense of belonging throughout the school community. In addition to solid classroom instruction, students are given meaningful opportunities to learn and grow through enrichment activities, leadership opportunities, and community-building experiences that help them develop confidence and discover their interests.
Under the current principals leadership, the school has seen renewed focus and steady improvement. Communication has strengthened, expectations are clearer, and there is a visible commitment to elevating the school to meet high standards. The principal is hands-on, invested, and intentional about continuous growth which has made a noticeable difference.

I started 1st grade in the very first year this school was open in 1960.I still stay in touch with over 20 people from that class. This year is our 50th Class Reunion for the Class of 1972 Oxon Hill Senior High School. We have over 100 people attending 25% went to Fort Foote Elementary School. Great start to a great life!!!

We moved to MD a few years ago. My kids upset initially because they missed they're friends and teachers from the previous school. But I told them that the new school would be just a nice and they can meet new friends. As time when on, we realized that the school was beyond our expectation. The teacher and staff were very professional and friendly. The school was very orderly, structured, and many events geared towards the development of the children. Needless to say, my children have met new friends and exceptional teachers that promote educational excellence while caring about my child's individual growth. I highly recommend this school.

I recently had an opportunity to visit Fort Foote Elementary. While I was not there to visit the principal, I happened to run into her at the door. Dr. Goldsmith greeted me with a smile and immediately asked how she could assist me. She was very pleasant and helpful, something I have not seen an many other schools where I have children. My child has always raved about how much she loves her principal and now I see why.
Fort Foote is an excellent school that puts children first and I am so grateful my child is receiving the best possible education she can in Prince George's County.

Great School. Please don't get misguided by test results, this is a great school. Teachers are very responsible and love the kids. I have 2 kids that went to Fort Foote ES, one of them is an Honor student at Oxon Hill HS and my other one is an honor student still at Fort Foote ES. Thanks to the teachers and our involvement as parents my kids are doing excellent. The PTA is very active in this school, lots of activities done by PTA. School building is little old but what counts is the love and responsibility of their teachers.

This is a great small community school in the Fort Washington/National Harbor community. We transitioned our son from a private school to Fort Foote ES as we were impressed with the vision of the principal and the dedication to ensuring the school is one of excellence. There is great parental involvement and a very active PTA. It should be noted that residents of the National Harbor are zoned for this school.

Great School with a community feel!! We moved into the area and initially thought we would keep our son in private school. Due to the community feel of a small school and the dedication by administration to ensure that this school provides a top notch educational experience, we decided to give Fort Foote a try. My son had a great Kindergarten teacher and we were truly happy with our decision. They have a great PTA as well! It should be noted that if you live in the National Harbor, this is the zoned school, so there is great interest in this school's success.

My child has learned academically and life independence skills. The administration has been very attentive and Ms. Bannat is SIMPLY AMAZING!
