This school is a HOT MESS! My child has an IEP, but there are only TWO teachers in the entire school who are qualified to teach these students. They have several "aides" who are just glorified babysitters and are unable to TEACH the students whenever the teachers are out (which is often because they have to be present at all of these IEP meetings for each individual student). My child was sent home the FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL with 3 different and distinct bruises, one of which was on the forehead. No note. Not seen by the "nurse" (they SAY they have one, but I've never seen or heard of this person even though I am up at the school at least 3 days EVERY WEEK because the teacher calls me non-stop to pick up my child. And I JUST found out that she isn't supposed to be doing that AND that she never notified anyone else that she was requesting that I pick my kid up!! The staff lies daily. I could ask them about the same exact incident on different days of the week and get a different answer every time! No one knows what is going on. Ever. Every question has a cagey and indirect answer. They're HORRIBLY disorganized. No real pickup/drop off process. Safety (aside from the rampant bullying--almost every parent I have spoken to has a story) is a huge issue. I have seen no fewer than 4 children run out of the side doors without anything to stop them. And what's worse is the staff would just WALK to retrieve them! WALK! As if they can't get far away. Oh yeah, there are no REAL gates around this school. It looks like they have gates, but they do not connect to anything and actually do not keep anyone inside. Please do not do it! Run away! Go private if you can because this school and its foolishness is just not worth your child's happiness or future success.

This is my second year sending my daughters, and I love this school. The attention and support from the teachers is amazing.
The office stuff is always so helpful, and they really Put effort to try to resolve your problems.

Hello , I just wanted to come on here and say how this school profiles innocent children . My daughter has done some bad things in the past but never ever would she do some of the things her teacher accused her of this past school year.
About a month ago my daughter came into the car after school telling me about her teacher saying “you need to stop being around the boys “ My daughter told me that she was chasing some of her male classmates around during recess because they took her hand sanitizers , she was only so sensitive about that because she has a extremely bad fear of germs . When her teacher saw that she pulled her aside and said that . Her teacher has pulled her out of the class before WITH the councilor which all they said is they heard from another teacher that she was kissing boys behind the busses. My daughter hates boys and hates germs kissing a BOY would make her sob uncontrollably. She would have a whole mental breakdown in the car because she swore on her life she would never kiss anybody or go against my wishes until she was 15 . She is a young 4th grader who has been a victim of institutional bias . Every single time she has been called names by people and told a teacher they would do nothing but be completely disrespectful.She has amazing grades which not even I had when I was her age she has all A and 1 B but still her teacher feels the need to call her a irresponsible student when she forgets one singular assignment. To whoever plans on going to this school , make sure your child isn’t being bullied at their last school because their is a HIGH chance it will happen again but even worse at this one

The reason these scores are the way they are is because of these rude teachers. They have no clue on what they are doing. This school makes me very uncomfortable everyday i send my child to school i regret it. The school is very old nasty and dirty. I don’t even allow my child to eat there.

My experience to this school is bad. When I went to the school and ask the principal about the computer for my daughter and he said that what computer Everyone should have a computer. I said nope we don't and it's about 3 students on 3rd grade don't have a computer. when the principal said that he will give my kid a computer the next day and he did not give to kid the assistant principal said to my kid go to class. I called the next day the principal said that he will give it her personally when I asked my child if she got her computer and she said no. So I called the next day front desk says that she I'll find out if they have a computer and I said that the principal said that they have a lot of computer.

All three of my children went to this school. We have seen many chnages and improvements. Teachers are very dedicated to the success of their students.

Principal made many effective changes and makes sure the kids are getting all the advantages the county had to offer. Current principal also made sure the building and appearance of school is maintained

In 2017 there were no suspensions at this school due to the multiple strategies the Principal has implemented to deal with negative behavior.

This is my 5th year as a parent at FWFES. When we were deciding to move our child from private to public we met with two public schools and one private in VA. FWFES was the only school that had a very caring school family environment. It was also the school in the worst condition. We chose this school after meeting with Teachers and administrators of all three. Our daughter had a few friends,
didn't test well and was very shy. After sharing these important personal details with the 4th grade team they provided my wife and I with clear and consistent information in regards to her tests and socialization. After the first year, my daughter was more social and had scored high on most of the test late in the year. FWFES helped my family raise my first child. Tbe second year I ran for PTSA President and have worked to improve the building conditions, communication to families and update technology. In 2018, we know have a chromebook for every student in the school, white boards, a smart TV in every class, a newly paved parking lot in the front/rear, a PreK only playground has just been completed and the PTSA is a household name and well respected by our teachers/staff.

Making strides! The teachers and staff are caring and PTA is actively involved in upgrading the quality of the school and learning and social experiences of the students. Needs a vice principal and administration.

This is an excellent school. I don't give 5 starts because there are so many parents that don't get involved in school activities. I love that the staff knows my daughters name, is a small school so they know each other well, I was new to the area and I was really happy and I can't imagine my daughter going somewhere else, in just 3 months my daughter have learned so much! And she has improved her social skills. The school needs our help to improve the building but if parents would get together this school wouldn't be underrated. They really care about your kids education, but this is a triangle where teacher-student-parents play important roles to succeed.

First, let me state that I am not a teacher or administrator of this school or any school. I am the parent of a 2nd grade student and I am proud that my son attends Fort Washington Forest. The primary issue with this school (as with many schools) is lack of parental involvement. Often, parents send their children to school and expect strangers to do what they refuse to do at home! Studies have shown that students who's parents are actively involved in the educational process excel above those students who's parents are not involved. If your child's test scores aren't high then first look to yourself as a parent and then look to the school . The administration is very customer focused from Ms. Brown in the front office to Mr. Bloyce the principal and all the teachers in between. If you plan to send your child to this school do so with the intent to make both the school and your child better by being involved.

This school has gone down hill...fast. When my son started at this school in 2010, it was an 8. Now it's a 3 and you can tell. The quality of teachers has decreased. Test scores have plummeted. It's time for them to get this school back to where it was.
