To much recorded fights putting up on social media and also way to many kids sell drugs there as soon as you walk into the building you can smell it and I am there almost everyday the sadest part is the staff do not care they are great on putting on a show but in reality they can care less if your child dies from drugs. This is so sad why become counselors if thats not the job you want. And lastly they dont have enough security guards to help monitor the drugs thats going on and that school. If youre thinking about bringing your child there, dont they do not care. They couldnt care less about mental needs.

The school is ran terribly. Theres fights everyday with students skipping and roaming the hallways everyday. There's students here who are talented but aren't able to demonstrate it in this school. I have a spanish teacher who just puts random grades without checking the actual assignment. Overall this school is somewhere you shouldn't send your kids too. School is in a very low income area aswell. The positive side of this school is their VPA program as they offer programs with teachers who are willing to work their students. Sometimes the security even befriends students and even helps students skip class. The most common skipping area is the field, students smoke their and I heard rumors that students get robbed at the field.

I would recommend this school for the Visual and Performing Arts Program. The teachers care about the students and work very hard to create a professional arts experience for them. The top students from this program are attending and graduating from top school in the country with good scholarships. Students have private lessons and lots of help perfecting their craft.

The school is badly run, from the top down. The principal sets the tone with an authoritarian culture. Systemic problems are not addressed. The main virtue of the school is supposed to be its visual and performing arts program, but it is not adequately supported. Some of the teachers are great but there is little support from the administration for creative teaching or real learning.

By not maintaining fair standards, it teaches the wrong lessons.

Problems are not addressed. No one seems to notice until one raises the issues with authorities outside the school.

I think they are trying really hard, but they all looked exhausted.

I ran across very few students that I can honestly say have a chance at a positive outcome in life. I did not come across any outstanding students.

Difficult to say. The VP that I dealt with is an enabler.

I just did not see it. And furthermore they enable foolishness.
Posted: December 11, 2019
I was physically threatened by a student and security does not really do anything.

I enjoyed the school and the ability to teach the students however, there is no rating that I could give the school that would be above 1 star. Its a disaster and the generation is lost. There is a lost of institutional control and its depressing. The students have no aspirations and their dreams are extremely unrealistic. If you are reading and writing at a 7th grade level and you are supposed to be in 11th grade and you have Georgetown aspirations in unrealistic and a false dream.

I graduated in 1969, and i must say that comments written by the students as well as parents shows the lack of education they are recieving just from poor sentence structure and spelling. ie. jim class!!!! wow. Teachers do your job! Kids, pay attention this is a wake up call. If the draft was still a process, you would see a lot better grades.

This is a large school, and yes, they do have some problems with some student's behavior (the bigger the barrel the more rotten apples). However, my daughter was able to take part in marching band, learn Italian, and take AP courses. She also had the best English teacher I had ever met. This school is like many others - it is what you make of it. A motivated student will do well. A slacker will get lost in the crowd. My daughter graduated and attends college, where she is doing well, in no small part due to the good instruction she received in high school.
