They have set policies to deal with this and my daughter was involved in an incident. It was handled swiftly and to my satisfaction.

Ms. White is a great leader and has done a good job about noticing and fixing issues within the school. She takes responsibility for the whats going wrong and works to make improvements.

Disappointing. The kids especially kindergarteners need to be taught more of the basics. The teachers need to stop forcing the Spanish language on them. They can barely grasp the English language and are at a disadvantage against the Hispanic kids that attend.

Kindergarteners are given too much homework. More time should be spent on kids learning the basics and not being bombarded with homework

Some of the teachers are not responsive to the childs needs. Kindergarten kids are being treated like theyre in the second grade instead of being given the chance to actually attrition to school work.

The kids that I have noticed have none of these attributes. There has been reports of bullying and teachers doing nothing about it.

My experience at Overlook school has been extremely positive. I had the chance to move my daughter into TAG program twice ( in 1st and 3rd grade) but I opted to leave her in Overlook. I also have experience with the TAG program because my son is in it, but I am very happy with Overlook elementary. Being at Overlook is getting a private school experience without the price tag attached to it. It is one of the best kept secretes in the PGCPS. From the moment you walk in one can immediately feel peace and serenity. This is important to me because I value my children being in a peaceful happy environment. The teachers at over look are qualified and kind and dedicated. My children are above reading level when I compare them to my nieces and nephews in Fairfax county Virginia. The icing on the cake is that they are proficient in two languages. I have two children in this school one in 3rd grade and the other in K, I would urge any parent to visit and enroll their child.

My experience at Overlook Spanish Immersion School is great!! I am grateful my son was selected to attend this school, he has made great strides in learning the Spanish language. The teachers, principal & vice, and staff are invested in the school and students' success.

My child has been going to Overlook Spanish Immersion for the past two years. She is able to speak, read, and understand Spanish. She is doing well in other subjects as well. The staff are friendly and love the children as their own. Don't allow the neighborhood to fool you , the school is not a product of the environment. The PTA do a great job in keeping activities going as well for the children. GREAT SCHOOL!

We love how our daughter has excelled in the Spanish Immersion program at Overlook the last two years! She loves her school, her teachers, as well as the new Principal, who has demonstrated support to us as parents, and a positive look on the future and exciting things to come to the school! My daughter has been at Overlook since kindergarten and we love it! My Husband and I have no complaints! I have to say I was initially discouraged about the outward appearance of the school building (which has since improved with artwork and landscaping) as well as all subjects being taught in Spanish but our daughter is now 7 years old and officially holding verbal exchanges in Spanish! This school is a gem of PGCPS for sure :)

We are blessed to have our daughter in this program. Not only is she excelling in her academics, she is bilingual. This program along with the parent involvement, teacher and administration involvement is like no other! The entire school is a family working towards a common goal; preparing our children for higher education thru biliteracy. Amo está escuela!

I was skeptical about the Spanish Immersion program. But my son loves the school and has an excellent teacher. He has learned so much Spanish and how to work with other children. With any program or school parent involvement and studying is key.

My son is having a great experience at Overlook.He's only in the 1st grade and he can read in English and Spanish fluently..I feel Overlook has a awesome support team With Teachers Principal Vice Prinicipal and the PTA. They really make me feel like family. The Prinicipal Vice Prinicipal and Faculties greets parents and kid(s) by first name....The school nurse make rounds to classroom checking on students. I feel my son is lucky to be a Overlook student...

I have had a great experience Overlook! My daughter is excelling in the Spanish Immersion program and I look forward to her siblings enrolling in the program. The teachers are very supportive, the administrators are phenomenal, the PTA is thriving, and all entities work together to ensure the success of all students.

Overlook is a K-5 school with two programs following the state/county-approved curriculum. The traditional program has returning neighborhood students who will remain at the school until they graduate from the 5th grade. The Spanish Immersion Program started in 2014 with kindergarten entry via lottery. Eventually the school will become a dedicated Spanish Immersion school, graduating bilingual students. My child is a Spanish Immersion kindergartener who loves school and her teacher from Spain. She is definitely learning the curriculum and Spanish. I also hear good things about the other teachers. The school and central office provide materials and resources, including bilingual homework instructions, a language immersion portal and workshops, to help parents help their child with school work. The principal, program coordinator and teachers are approachable, but you might need to follow up with them more than once. Overlook isn t humming like a well-oiled machine yet, but we are on our way to becoming a great school. Working in our favor are a proven language immersion program model, support at the school and central office levels, and engaged parents and students in both programs.
