I love the school is excellent for my daughter. There’s a great autism program with a very supportive team. She has so many friends there and she loves her teacher. The school is quite involved with the community and has a lot of resources for children. I enjoyed the curriculum as well and they have an excellent learning program for kids.

This neighborhood school has such a sense of FAMILY. The staff treat students as they would their own children. I can't say enough how supported I feel by the administration and teachers. I am so glad my child gets the opportunity to experience this!

The staff at this school is amazing. They go above and beyond to make sure you and you're children get what they need whether it be school related or otherwise. All staff I've encountered outdoors at drop off or indoors during programs or classroom presentations were very pleasant and helpful.

Also. I really love the principle Mrs. MacIntyre , she comes to work with a smile on her face and genuinely appears to love kids and engage regularly.

Finally. the academic support is great. My child wss not reading upon entry to kindergarten. and by the end of the school year she was a fluent reader. Thank you Mrs. Morsel!

I love this school. The staff is engaged with parents and very supportive with the children’s education. They communicate, very transparent, and open to listening to parents and addressing concerns. They care about your child, in the morning during drop off, they know your child’s name. The teachers send messages and notices daily on school updates. I couldn’t ask for a more as for as a school that actually cares about your child. The teachers interact with students and parents concerning the growth of your child.

All three of my kids attend or attended Pointer Ridge Elementary…so I have over 10 years of experience with this school. The leadership and the teachers are phenomenal. We have a very strong PTA. The parents, students and the neighborhood come out in droves whenever the school has an event. It’s amazing to see the sense of community here. I highly recommend sending your child here.

I've been a Pointer Ridge parent for many years now and it is an absolute gem. Every teacher in the school seems to have a never-ending supply of patience and genuine love. The principal knows every student by name and makes it a point to make them feel special and loved. The atmosphere at the school and in the surrounding community is that of love, family, and teamwork. Pointer Ridge should be a template, a model of what elementary school should look like!

This school is a great community school with strong community support and bonds. The principal is honestly the best principal any of my children have had. Support through my child’s neurological diagnosis was incredible. The teachers are experienced and ready to actually TEACH the students. I can’t say enough good things about our experience here.

I withdrew my child from private school to attend Pointer Ridge Elementary School and have been pleased from day one. The teachers truly care about our children and are dedicated to their education. The community is a family and supports the school and students. The students here perform well on the MCAP standardized tests. There aren't any behavioral concerns and the school climate is respectful.

This is our first year at Pointer Ridge and it definitely feels like a community. The teachers and staff know the kids by name. The school currently uses Class Dojo, which keeps parents informed. My daughter is in kindergarten and she’s thriving.

This is truly a wonderful school. The teachers and administration are so passionate and focused on their job. My son goes to this school, and my older son also attended a few years ago. Both experiences have been simply remarkable. I am truly blessed to have my children attend this school. My son looks forward to attending school every day and he loves his teachers. Great school.

Posted: June 12, 2017

I would not rate it positively. I enjoyed my first year. After that, I saw how things really worked in that school. I don't recommend this school at all.

Posted: June 12, 2017

Homework is not regulated from teacher to teacher.

Posted: June 12, 2017

Most of the teachers are dedicated to teaching the students. Some of the teachers do not do much. Some do not like kids.

Posted: June 12, 2017

Students are allowed to do whatever they want.

Posted: June 12, 2017

The Principal treats most of the staff poorly. She uses parents to get teachers in trouble without the parents knowledge. She berates teachers in front of everyone. The behavior problems are not taken care of unless she likes the teacher. There is a definite divide and tension in the school.

Posted: June 12, 2017

The students are not receiving services when they are supposed to. They try to blame it on the classroom teacher.

Posted: June 12, 2017

The Principal is a bully. My student was bullied by another student and nothing ever happened. I brought it to the attention of the Principal.

Posted: March 25, 2015

The principal is not responsive. She does not return calls or address concerns in a timely manner. She treats some of the teachers and children unfairly.

Posted: October 4, 2013

Pointer Ridge is a good school; however, I would be a great school if the principal would focus of all of the students and not just the tag students. She is so busy trying to make Pointer Ridge into Heather Hill she is losing the confidence of the mainstream parents.

This school is a joke. I have several issues. For one, my child was bullied all year long and the administrators did their bare minimum to try and solve the problem. They looked the other way while my child was being verbally abused, pushed to the ground and tripped on purpose every day. Can you imagine what that does to a child after a while and no adult or person in charge will do anything to help him???? My children encountered racism constantly(we are white, the majority of students were black). My children went here for one year and we have since moved because I couldn't bare to put my children through that again for another year. I wouldn't be surprised if these last 5 reviews in August 2013 were bogus. And secondly, my oldest child was never challenged even though it was obvious he was smarter than the class they had him in and he needed harder work. He was being taught things he mastered 2 years before and there wasn't anything the teacher would do about it. This school cares about it's MD testing scores and that's it!!!!!!!! They teach to the test and little else.

This is my daughter's first year. So far the experience has been great. The administrative staff has been extremely helpful. The school seems very organized.

Posted: August 20, 2013

The PR school have some good teachers. I have 3rd grader and now a 2nd grader but during my 2nd grader first year in the school for 1st grade , I had a very rough and unpleasant experience with the teacher and i wish the school can change her and bring in a child friendly teacher for that class. Ms. Jones one of the 2nd grade teacher is awesome and i actually believe she is the best will require a good egg aware.!!!!!! signed by concern parent.

My daughter has attended this School since Kindergarten and now going to the 5th grade. I have an older child who attended public School but his School is by far the most effective. If I didn't know any better I would have mistook this School for a private School. Awesome teachers, and faculty, keep up the good work!

Posted: August 14, 2013

Happy to say that my daughter excels every year at Pointer Ridge and I am sad to say that this is her last year. It has been a pleasant experience and the faculty has been nothing but supportive.

Pointer Ridge is a very good school. My child is entering her second year and she loves it. My child was having a difficult time at her previous school and her test scores was very low. Every since she came to Pointer Ridge I have seen an improvement and she is eager to learn. She is still having some trouble areas but I know as the school year goes on she will get better.
