I am also concerned about how situations involving children are being handled. There have been interactions that felt unfair and disrespectful, starting with the school leadership. As a parent, this raises serious concerns about whether all children are being treated equally and respectfully.

I have been a teacher at Thomas Stone since 2001 to the present! I have loved being a teacher in Prek , Headstart, and Kindergarten! The students and parents know most of the staff there have loved the students! We work hard and care about everybody!

This’s school is horrible ,unprofessional, some people are so rude. I can’t imagine how they’re gone treat the kids poor kids I fill bad.

If you have a special needs child, avoid this school at all costs. I've been absolutely appalled at how the principal and special education staff clearly care more about their enrollment and budget number than getting kids educated.

I do not know as I never experienced it. Tue students tho have a very explicit vocabulary at such young ages.

I loathe this school with a passion. This school is not well-kept and no one seems to follow up with an issue when brought until it becomes a bigger issue involving too many students or other people. I am very upset and horrified by my experience at this school. I will alloe my child to finish the schook year but there is no way I will put her another year at this school. I would rather pick up a second job and pay for a private school. I will never recommend this school to anyone.

The kids get a homework packet for the month and they turn it in at the end of the month.

The kids are out of control and it appears that they do not screen sickly children.

The principal is most of the time M.I.A and her assistant is not friendly or approachable.

My child is entering his third year at Thomas Stone in August. After reading some of the reviews online I felt that some of the comments are old and do not reflect the current situation at the school. My son is one of mixed heritage and so in not in any of the minority or majority groups attending the school his best friends are of different backgrounds. With this in mind the school makes tremendous efforts in incorporating balance and respect to all backgrounds. This is not to say that on any given day there will be no frustrations due to staff members/teachers whom have been rude or burnt out, but they are human not robots and we can not expect more of them as we would ourselves. Any person can have a bad day and the same teachers whom have exhibited this have been warm and welcoming on another day. Our family have been impressed by the teachers that have taught our son and genuinely want the best for him. They are definitely not working for the "paycheck" showing care to inquire even about our family and our younger child whom has yet to start school, and instilling a sense of self worth in all the students. The principal held a monthly chat for any parent who wants to talk about his/her concerns or ideas. The new principal promises to do the same. My son has a lot of students in his class whom are very bright in many different area's with actively involved parents. So I am not sure of why the school is ranked 1 out of 10, hazarding a guess it’s due to the impact on test scores of the large English-as-a-second-language immigrant population. All of the materials are sent home in both English and Spanish due to some of the parents not being able to speak fluent English. This never made us feel like our son was not being helped in anyway. We would love to be able to get enroll our daughter into its Pre K program when she is ready. So please go and talk to the school faculty before making any decisions about sending your child here based on the score published.

The Headstart Program at Thomas Stone is wonderful! My child is getting ready to go into kindergarten with a very good foundation as provided by her headstart teachers, Mrs. R and Mrs. C. Very happy that we were able to utilize this resource!!!!

This school is by far the worst I have ever seen. This was my child's first year at Thomas Stone and I don't think she will return, the staff is unfriendly and they are unorganized. I would not recommend this school to anyone.

This is the first year in this school for my kids and I think its going to be the last one too. This school is awful the kids seem like they are always running around without any supervision . I once went to pick up my daughter and she was suppose to be at the park but yet she was walking to the restroom by her self without a grown up and she is a kindergarten. The principal seems like she never have time to speak to the parents and the teachers are always in a I really don't like this school very disappointed :(

This school is just an elementary school, but it is a far superior school since my friend is a teacher there. She is very smart, and very courteous to all. Her students like working with her.

Thomas Stone Elem is by far the worst School for my child. No one there Makes my child feel comfortable. I walk in there and It seems like no one smiles. Especially my child's Teacher. I have always wondered why she would cry when I would walk her to School. It's because they don't they don't make her feel welcome.
