My kids loved this school. The pre-k program is amazing and the community schools programs for younger children were such a nice touch. The teachers are very kind and personable. If ever we had an issue the administration handled it swiftly and kept me in the loop. My family was very sad to leave, and cherished our moments at Southgate.

Hopefully this never happens to another parent. As a parent that had been bringing my childrens for about 15 years to this school. I'm very disappointed with what my 2nd grade child went through. My child was accused of saying a phrase that he did not say. My child's teacher was ruthless, immature and a bully against my child and not only that he got humiliated by his own teacher. By thinking about it, it breaks my heart of not being with him. My disappointment was from the principal after having a meeting with him the same day afterschool without the teacher. He denied giving us our rights as parents to change our son from that class. As of today the teacher still works for the school. Please speak with your childrens after school to make sure they have not been intimidated by the teacher they have. My son got afraid of this teacher. So keep an eye on your kids. As parents we are at work thinking that our childrens are learning and their teacher's are doing their job. But some teachers do their jobs and they think they have the right to humiliate a child.

Bullying is not and should not be tolerated anywhere ever especially at school

Over the years my experience has been nothing short of amazing,I will be sad that my child will head to middle school without all of the great teachers he has had.

I like the weekly homework packet my child gets,It keeps me up to date on whats going on at school and it also challenges me to to stay on top of the diffrent strategies my child learns to complete his work .

There hasn't been a time that my concerns were not addressed either by the teacher or the principal.In fact i remember sending the principal a email late one evening and low and behold she responded right back and answered my question(Mrs Myers)

I love all the teachers in the special education department they go above and beyond and constantly give feedback

Some teachers give out a packet of homework a night, while others do a packet a week

Teachers see kids obviously falling behind and fail to help them, even after students request extra help.

My child was bullied and the teachers did nothing except move my childs seat (effectively punishing him for another child being a bully). My child was threatened and they did nothing to the other child and said it was not credible. But they will try to make it look like there is no bullying going on in the school.

There are some teachers who are great, and sit down with the kids to make sure they get the help they need. There are others who see kids falling behind, and do not do anything to help. Hope that your child does not get bullied, or they are going to have a terrible time at this school.

We have loved our teachers over the last few years. Their teaching strategies are effective and are more than capable at classroom management. My daughter is thriving because of these wonderful teachers-- reading nearly two grades ahead, and exceeding expectations in math and science.
I love that the school is a part of the International Bachelorette Primary Years Program. They work on character development and learn about how the world is interconnected. I love that they help to focus on good citizenship starting in Pre-K.
The principal is attentive and helpful if ever you should have a problem. I was able to get a 504 plan for my daughter without issue and it's been implemented well since we got it.
Southgate has a lot of great things going on. Test scores are not the only criteria to base a school on. This is a safe and wonderful learning environment for our children with amazing and well trained teachers. We love our school!

I have a kindergartener and a 1st grader and they are doing so well! The teachers are on top of things and they are very receptive to parent communication.

We're new to the Millersville area but so far the interactions with the teachers and administrators have been excellent and the renovations are great.

My children have gone to Southgate from Kindergarten to Fifth grade. I have never had a problem. The teachers are excellent. They really care about your kids and want them to do well. They are very open and welcoming to parents. There are many activities to promote involvement and for raising funds for the school. I have also worked very closely with special education. They have always been openly communicative and care about what I think. My kids have been very lucky to have had the opportunity to go to this school.

This school was fun while it lasted while being my last year here the teachers are great and push you to do your best. The vice principal and principal don't play around, hopefully you don't end up in the office unless its for a positive referral. For all the southgaters I want to give you some advice get good grades and try your best, it will help you in the future! !

Both my sons attend Southgate and I can't say enough wonderful things about the teaching, administrative staff and the entire atmosphere of the school. The new school is beautiful and the children adore that but regardless of the appearance the staff is what makes the difference and they are incredible. Both my children have areas that require some extra attention and they manage to receive it at Southgate. At their old school unless they were gifted/talented or had severe learning disabilities they didn't receive the extra attention. Thank you so much to the school I know they have changed my kids' lives.

This is my daughters first year in Southgate, she is in K. So far I love the school and more importantly my daughter loves going to school at Southgate. I find the staff to be very friendly and always available to talk if you need to. The new IB PYP program is great! It just adds to the curriculum giving the children a more in depth veiw of things. The PTA always seems to have some fun festivals planned to bring the families and school together. My only complaint is that I wish they had slightly better communication between the school and parents. But all in all we are all very pleased with our experience with Southgate.
