Two of my children have flourished at Kenmoor. One is excelling in the IB program at Parkdale and the other is excited to start at Roosevelt next year. The TAG program has fantastic teachers and the school/PTA are engaged with parents. We've been very happy with the school.

I currently have two sons at Kenmoor (an 8th grader and 7th grader) and a soon to be 6th grader. We have been very pleased with the Talented and Gifted Program at KMS. The teachers are outstanding, the staff shows they care about the school and the students, and my sons are generally happy (as happy as any middle schooler would be about going to school, right?). Teachers are responsive and engaging and genuinely care about the students and their personal and academic success. We are excited about the new school building opening up next school year! That will boost anyone’s mood coming from the old building. KMS is diverse and multi-cultured and the school celebrates it, which is great. They have after-school clubs, but they aren’t well marketed or communicated, but overall the general communication has improved over the years. Overall, we’ve been happy with KMS.

So far, my student and my family's experience at KMS has been great. The staff made sure that my sixth grader transitioned well into a more rigorous traditional learning environment and have encouraged them to thrive in their studies. The teachers and staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful. Every day I come on campus, I am always greeted warmly despite how incredibly busy they are. They are wonderful resources, not just to students but also to families.

The school clearly aims to provide a well-rounded education for all students. This shows in the different programs and clubs that they support. There are junior honor societies and debate teams for high achievers, sports for rising athletes, band/orchestra/choir/go-go band for aspiring musicians, and even a games club!

The school is also highly invested in its families and community. They have numerous community members and alumni that always come back to contribute to the school. They are incredibly supportive of the PTSA and are willing to work with parents in addressing concerns. Though I only have one other school to compare, they seem to be very proactive in meeting with families when students are not doing as well academically as they should be.

This is my student's first year at KMS, and it is great to see that they are getting homework that gives them additional opportunities to learn and practice the material outside of the classroom.

The sixth grade faculty has been great in getting new middle school students adjust to the rigorous Talented and Gifted curriculum. They hold the kids to a high standard but also treat them with compassion and empathy. I like that they often look to opportunities outside of the box to teach students; recently, the Spanish teacher has invited a Flamenco dancer to give the students additional insights to the Spanish culture and teach them how to do the Flamenco.

The administrators and program coordinators at the school do a great job managing over 900 students in three different programs. They are willing to listen and address the concerns of students, parents, and community members. They are invested in programs, such as athletics, the PTSA, music and arts, and other student clubs, to provide a well-rounded experience for KMS students.

The school has three educational programs: Talented and Gifted, AVID, and special education. Teachers and staff in each program and across the school make sure that students are learning based on their abilities.

My personal experience has been a wonderful experience with my interactions with students and staff. The teachers never have a problem with me sitting in on a class or taking the time to speak to me about my child. The office staff, as busy as they get, are very supportive of parents, and parent concerns and work with the parents on various activities all designed to give the students the best experience. As a parent, part of my experiences revolve around my child's experience and the ability to differentiate between problems at school versus expected problems of a pre-teen. For the most part my child has had positive experiences and any complaints that I felt needed the attention of school officials, I brought up and they were addressed. As with most educational institutions and with the rotation in and out of students and parents (and associated personalities), there are always areas of improvement. But I am beyond satisfied with my choice of Kenmoor Middle School and believe my daughter is benefiting as a student.

Currently, my child is in her second year and the homework load has increased from 6th to 7th grade, which I'm fine with. I would enjoy a better balance of homework when major projects are underway even if it's in a different class. Overall, I think the work load is manageable, although, if your child does evening activities, they may end up going to bed late regularlly.

I Agree instead of Strongly Agree because similar to most public schools, you end up with a variety of teachers. My child is in the Talented and Gifted program and for the most part she has pretty genuine teachers, that seem to want to ensure the success of their students. She also has a couple of instructors that don't relate well to the students and could stand taking alternative approaches to reach more kids. Outside of her instructors, her guidance counselor has been an amazing resource helping her through typical middle school issues. The TAG coordinator is outstanding at being not just a resource for students, but parents as well.

The staff comes together and is always evaluating and looking at avenues on continuous improvement, while keeping students first. I think this is amazing and why the students see this and even try to encourage each other.

The overall leadership at the school seems to be effective. The principal has an overall plan and the support staff to help execute. I would say there are areas of improvement, but administrators and leadership personnel are willing and open to sit down with parents and students to hear concerns and devise next steps.

The school has a variety of programs that cater to students with learning disabilities and to students that learn at a different rate than their peers. There's programs and aides that assist with autism and are able to make sure the kids have the same experiences as their peers.

I agree instead of strongly agree mainly because feedback from being around students references that there are bullying problems. Not all problems are reported so the staff isn't always aware. But I do know that the school takes bullying seriously and never turns a blind eye once they are notified or if they observe bullying. Some of the kids are aware and support anti-bullying behavior. One kid in particular was new to the school in 6th grade and told me about being bullied. He didn't report it, but he handled it in a method in which it was a non-issue for him and the bullying eventually stopped. This doesn't always happen, but I do love a success case.

Pretty darn awful. I'm a student in the Talented and Gifted program and I've been here for 3 years. Bullying, thievery, and assault are common among students. Most of the teachers that I've had have made the classroom an unenjoyable environment.

I really like Kenmoor Middle School for my child. My child is part of the Talented and Gifted program. The classes are smaller and the work is challenging. They offer Chinese and high school level courses. The TAG coordinator is wonderful and TAG counselor shows they care about the kids. The school looks older and perhaps it is true that half of the kids may not care, but once the administration finds out that the kids and parents care, they try their best to make that child's life at Kenmoor successful.

The students are good but the teachers could be way better. The white teachers can't relate to the poc make up of the school mainly the 8th grade reading teacher. Great to make friends bad for teacher representation but the curriculum was okay

Many kids don't care about the teachers, but others do. The teachers already have biases so it really doesn't matter.

The students at this school are pretty okay, the tag program is nice but they could do better with avid(meaning 100% better that side of the school is a mess). White teachers are not relatable to the high poc make up at this school like the 8th grade reading teacher. Overall this school is good to make friends, the curriculum could be better but was okay but the teachers really bring down the school.

My son goes to kenmoor and he is a 7 th grader now in TAG. He loves kenmoor and I know all teachers there are great. Esp, the principal _ Mrs.Fadli, Mrs.Novick,Mr.Farris, Mr.Beal,Mr.Katar are some of them. Overall, it is a good school and I believe this is a jewel in PG county.

I love the school. My son has enjoyed 2 years there & can't wait to see what next year has to hold for him. They challenge his mind while reinforcing basic fundamental skills to be productive in society. They have an excellent robotics program & debate team. Everything you are looking for Kenmoor has it. I love it & would recommend it to any parent.

If i were to describe this school in one word it would be Maybe. Im am a 7th grader in Kenmoor middle school. The staff as far as people who aren't teachers are not the nicest bunch. One day my friend and I were walking down the hall after the bell rang and the busses were called. We were unaware of a new policy that said after school clubs have to wait till car riders were called. So as were walking through the hall faculty at the other end of the hall yelled where are you going. We responded to wait for the adult leader of the club who we wait for in the front lobby because she has to drive to the school. The faculty member did not hear us so she yelled why are you out of your class room and what teacher are you coming from. We were polite and answered all her questions as she yelled at us to go back to our class room. She was yelling so loud you could hear her down the end of the long hallway. At that point my friend who was already sad started crying and she yelled why are you crying which made matters worse.

Both my kids have been in the TAG program at Kenmoor Middle School. (My youngest is in 8th grade now.) The administrative staff, principal, special ed teachers and regular ed teachers have been a breath of fresh air to us. We came from another TAG program that was not as well run. Beth Novick is doing an excellent job with the one at Kenmoor. We have experience in their special ed department too. The resource room was a God send to us. I have volunteered and observed in various classrooms and have had a great experience. I am glad my kids are there. The PTA has picked up a lot recently, but over the last 5 years, it was not as active. I am rating it as it is now.

i am going to go to this school next year . i love that its a non-uniform school and it has many extra curricular activities. one thing i would change/add is that they should have more sports for example track and field. the school is huge and diverse which is good but many students have behavior problems from when I've visited the school. but overall it doesn't matter how other students around behave just act the way you normally would. and overall the school is......................................... AWESOME!!!! i love it there. cant wait to go next year!!!!!

Lower comprehensive classes were given easier assignments.The program for the kids with autism can be helpful;the thing is I found some aides condescending towards me,and if you don't want your child to be in a room for a whole period doing his/her homework you might want to make some arrangements if possible.I found the 7th grade counselor more reliable than the 8th grade counselor,in which who I found impatient and plain sloppy.The special education chair probably is not the best person to go to in a situation of being bullied,or in any case.It's like she just looks into your kids situation and either tells you something like the the kids will never do it again or does nothing.If you really think a lot of kids have great acceptance of kids with autism then you've gotten yourself mistaken.Most kids thinks they're mentally challenged and will be very condescending towards them.They will use they're "prior knowledge" to judge them without really getting to know them.If your child was to be involved in an incident with a neurotypical kid chances are the principle will tell that kid about your child's condition,basically telling them to kiss their behinds.Tag coordinator is good.

I went to Kenmoor Middle School, for 7th and 8th Grade, and I've found it to be a really amazing school. The Teachers are understanding and have made a real difference in my life. And speaking from personal experience, the Special Education Dept. is top notch. The Aides are really great. I used to have one that really helped me believe in myself and find a drive to join SGA. Which, was also a great thing Kenmoor had to offer. I was a class rep in 8th grade, and during that time I helped set up dances, and the Valentine's day Candygrams. Although I know Kenmoor isn't perfect I feel like I can attribute it to a lack of effort by the students. If you will allow yourself to become a better person, this school will help you do so.
