My child had such a horrible experience while at green holly. He started kindergarten there and did amazing we loved his teacher he was always happy then half way through the year a new teacher came in an they switched him to her and it went downhill fast. Come to first grade his teacher from the start saw him as a bad kid and treated him as such. I got calls where she yelled at me to fix his behavior in front of him and the class, I'd fix her not him. Got threats they would hold him back. He got denied recess almost daily for what she said was lack of him doing work even though he wasn't being distracting to others. she would deny him treats for the class she'd bring in, worse was when she gave students a treat with peanuts during class knowing he has a serve allergy to peanuts
I have pulled him from school and had him evaluated and he has tested 2 grades higher than he was in and is happy and doing so well now.

The experience I had with this school was horrible. There were so many days I went to work worried my child was not having a great day. I would constantly get emails, about his behavior. I started to feel like my child wasn’t wanted at this school. IEP meetings were intimidating for no reason at all, and all this school had to do was set my child up for success. My child was not thriving in the environment he was placed in, and they made it so difficult to do so. I removed my child from this school, and he has been doing so well behavior and all.

We don't know my kids bus schedule after school start , call office and they said driver call you ! Nobody call

Green Holly had been a rough road for my son and I. My son is non-verbal autistic and only 7 years old. They have denied him the ABA, speech, and OT that he really needs. I find it crazy that this school has most of the disabled children in the district but only gives services to children" as needed per them gaining access to the school curriculum". Yet I can't get a defined package or explanation on what their "curiculum" entails. They put children that do not progress fast enough in the SAIL program, where they can sit and basically never achieve anything- IEPs written with goals that can never be achieved only to have another teacher the next year change them and then never follow through with their plans.
The principal is very removed from interacting with parents, and the vice principal just does the minimum everyday when dealing with issues- she will "okay" you to death and then nothing will be done. The secretary's the the front desk is only nice when you show her you aren't going to accept her attitude. I can't stand to think my son will be here another year dealing with the way this school treats parents and children with disabilities. It's really sad, the lack of empathy and kindness this school has with these types of children. They act like its a burden and just a chore they are stuck with. If you have a special needs child I suggest you look elsewhere when choosing somewhere to live in SOMD if your child is special needs.

Green Holly is a wonderful school! At first I was nervous about sending my children there after looking at the Great Schools Rating. Boy are they wrong. Green Holly provides a wonderful and caring environment for their students. My children now look forward to going to school every day. There is nothing negative I can say about the school. Even the bus driver is terrific. She is always happy and really seems to care about the children. The first bus stop that we had was a little far away from our house. She helped us get the bus stop moved so that my children did not have to walk as far. She really went out of her way to help us. So far my experience with the teachers and staff at Green Holly has been nothing but positive.

I have no complaints, this school is by far the best. The teachers try to involve the parents as much as possible and they are super friendly. The staff in the office is always helpful and friendly and greet everyone with a smile. I just wish I could take this school with us when we move. Being military the staff has understood and helped us out a great deal with the kids when my husband was deployed for a year. Both myself and the boys LOVE this school. They even help kids out who are "above" grade level and put them into special classes as well as the class they are in to better themselves even more. I have nothing negative to say about the school system... Though the bus transportation, well that's a different story..

We have just moved back to Lexington Park and were districted for Green Holly. The school does not understand the needs of the military child and the stresses that come from moving every 2-3 years nor do they take into account data shared in the records from their last school. Green Holly does a great job of meeting the needs of its Title 1 and Special Education students because funding is involoved. Administration only cares about their MSA test scores and teach to the test. The educational bar is set to the lowest standard. If you have a child above grade level or "gifted" they can not meet your child's needs. Green Holly does not encourage parental involvement/volunteering or keep parents informed about events going on. The phone system for announcements is not used consistently, the front billboard is not updated, and the website is not kept up to date. Administration views parents as adversarial instead of as educational partners. It is very sad when the current educational motto is "No Child Left Behind" and those that are above grade level are left behind.....
