Talented teachers that really care about the students...staff is sensitive to the home lives of disadvantaged kids

My first grader only comes home with reading homework. No other homework is sent home for him. He does have a bridges math book to work on, but he never has to turn anything in

I think this is a good school. One of my children has an IEP and they work really well with him

Nothing but disappointment here. Now my 4yo is the only one in daycare that isn't going to preK. If the administration had understood the issues we explained, known the procedures, and communicated effectively with us ahead of time, he'd be in private school. Instead, they strung us along, saying he'd get in and there would be no trouble. By then, all of the private schools had already been in session for 2 full weeks.

Administration at this school is very disappointing. They were disrespectful and dismissive when we tried to ask how the process works to sign our son up for preK in early spring. Then after we completed the registration process they dragged their feet about notifying us if there was a space. We asked repeatedly if there would be an issue if we bought a new house, and they said no worries because we already proved where we lived at the time of registration. We waited until the week before school was supposed to start, and they still wouldn't say yes or no. We showed up on the first day of school and they told us at the orientation they had a spot, but would charge 3200 tuition because we bought a new house out of district. If someone would have said something earlier, we could have signed him up for private school for the same price or less, but private schools started 2 weeks earlier. Nothing but disappointment at this school. The sheer quantity of people who told us we don't want send our kids to lexington park elementary was the greatest driving force behind our move in the first place, but WOW! We even called the school board because we still own the house in the county, still pay taxes, etc. Nothing. The poor communication in this school district is systemic. Nobody knows what they're doing and they're all afraid they'll get in trouble if they don't follow procedures even though nobody knows what the procedures are for anything beyond standard everyday situations. Terrible school administration!

my children started at Lexington Park in 2014. The staff thee are wonderful and stay on top of things. They are about learning and teaching the children in unique ways to get the children involved. Dr.Alston along with his staff have been great thus far, they interact with the children and are very active in the surrounding communities.

This school may be great for students who are doing grade level work but if they are behind and need an IEP, forget it. They will fall further and further behind as the school claims they are giving the child all the support they need.

I sent my daughter to this school for her pre-k and kindergarden years and was very impressed with the administrative staff, priniciple, and vice principle. This is a school where everyone truly cares about the kids and makes each and everyone of them top priority. We have been attending a "better" school (due to a change in location) and miss LPES greatly. On a side note I loved her Pre K teacher, Mrs Stadsvold, but was less than impressed with her K teacher (she seemed to have too much personal stuff going on and was distracted in the classroom).

Being new to the area, I was hesitant in sending my children to Lexington Park Elm. However I was pleasantly surprised with the great year that my kindergartener and second grader had. I was very pleased with both the principal and vice principal. So far so good.

Inappropriate music plays in the school off and on throughout the day. Students have been verbally insulted by staff. The do not take into account their own in actions when it comes to bullying. Quite apathetic and serve as merely a spring board to Spring Ridge Middle and Great Mills High in a lack of positive staffing and creation a generation of lost youth. Avoid all three of these schools if you can. Subsidiary to say the best.
