Spring Ridge Middle School is a place where students are truly seen and supported. The teachers and staff genuinely care and work hard to meet kids where they are, helping them grow both academically and emotionally. The school social worker has a huge heart for helping and loving students, and it shows every single day.

The administration puts in a tremendous amount of effort behind the scenes to support students, staff, and families. Like any school, it’s not perfect—but the commitment to doing what’s best for kids is clear.

It’s important to remember that schools can’t do it alone. Parent partnership and accountability matter. When families and the school work together, students have the best chance to succeed.

First juts let me say, if there was a way to put negative this school would be -1. At this school there is fights every day. There is drug dealing and vaping going on in the bathroom. People try to fight you for not even doing anything. If you have and money you better not bring it here. You will get bullied and it would be stollen so fast you wouldn't even know.

Worst school in the state of Maryland. This is a disgrace to America. I get called slurs daily. There is roaches in this school. The food is terrible. Waste of construction materials and money. Worst in the continent of North America.

This school is a disgrace I couldn’t even put my daughter in there for 2 days without being bullied and the teachers did NOTHING. She reported the bullying to the counselor multiple times all the counselor said “I’ll report this to the head principal”. I explained to them kindly that if nothing was done about this that I will be going to the Board of Education. Nothing I said would help my daughter she would go to school and come back DIRTY. She told me that she went to the counselor to show the messages that were shared with her, which were threats. And the counselor said she cannot deal with internet drama. That’s when I instantly popped off because my daughter should be able to go to school safely. This is honestly so sad the teachers don’t attempt to do anything about the situation. They put my daughter in the same class as the bullies I even had to leave my job because they put their hands on her. In conclusion, if you have enough money to send your child to a private school I would recommend. THIS SCHOOL IS HORRIBLE.

I am in my last year at this school (8th Grade) and the experience has been pretty all over the place (but has been more skewed towards the negative). The teachers are pretty good, but due to the recent teacher shortages and Covid-19 certain classes either have long-term subs or less qualified teachers. Many subs, long term-subs, and a few teachers; cannot control students. The actual students themselves are disrespectful and have almost no shame. Most students cuss as if it is a regular part of speech and some even go as far as racial slurs. Teachers are very light about this with simple remarks as "Watch your language!" There is almost never any real punishment. The greatest example of this includes me. During 7th Grade, near the year, during P.E. my wrist was broken. While playing Capture the Flag (a no contact game) another kid decided it would be fine to ram into me at my blind spot while sprinting full speed. The results included my wrist being broken, missing multiple track meets, and absolutely no punishment to the kid who broke my wrist. The actual ratio of good kids to bad kids is about 80-20. I have a few theories on why this is which I will keep to myself. In conclusion, if you have the option, DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL.

This school has ruined my life I get called racial slurs get threatened every day and get harassed by some of the teachers they have no respect and I feel like just because I'm white I have less and am treated like crap that place has terrible security guards and they EVN ENCOURAGE SCHOOL FIGHTS which happen every day and the people who try to stop them are old people who can't do anything about it. I was forced to say sorry to my bully because of my race hers she was black THE SCHOOL COUNSILER TOLD ME TO SAY SORRY TO A BULLY BECUASE OF HER RACE. I feel alone in that school because I got put in the same classes with bullies *recorded bullies* they only switched up and put me in the classes with no friends and they did nothing I'm pretty sure they purposely pushed me around because of my race and my friends. This school and its employees have ruined me.

As someone who went to this school two-three years ago, I absolutely loathed it. Most of the teachers are really good [heck, they might be my favorite teachers of all time], but some of them really need to retire, as they do not care about their jobs at all. The peers [that i have] at the school were some of the most cruelest people I met. When the staff tried to sort the students out, it either never works out in the long run or it wasn’t taken seriously by the other kids. I was exhausted almost everyday from either the students or the teachers, and Im just thankful I made at least a few friends. If this is your last option for a middle school, just make sure to talk to your child about their problems at school, as SRMS might drain their joy for learning, or from going there at all. But, this is from my experiences at this school. I don’t expect your experiences to be the same as mine.

I gave it 5 stars because I felt like they deserve them all. when I was going there they made sure that everybody know how to do their work as well as understood it. All of the teachers were respective to the students and never harmed them, they always kept us safe, and they always made us feel wanted. They had assembly's for bullying and made us be able to trust them enough to tell them if something was happening. If I could I would comeback to finish my last year I would be able to go to that school there. I love that school and everyone there very deeply. Especially Mrs. Houseman

My kids and I have had only positive experiences with teachers, administrators, and other families at the school. They have many after school activities and every person in the building cares about kids.

My daughter entered half way through the year as a 6th grader. She is bullied daily. I contacted the school counselor week one. No changes have been made. Children ititiate fights if she so much as looks at them. There are few extracurriculars. We are actively seeking alternatives.

Unless you are in the STEM Academy, don't bother with this school. If you can afford it, it is probably better to attend a private school. Most of these teachers are more worried about their union contract than you child's education and thus future. Look up Back to Basics and SOMD Public school teachers. for more information.

My son has been attending Spring Ridge for sixth grade. We actually purchased a home in the area after his first year, just so he could remain at Spring Ridge for seventh and eighth grade. My son has NEVER witnessed bullying or been bullied, not sure if the bullying issues are geared more toward the females but he has not had issues. People take the time out to make negative comments when really, more of the positive should be told!

My son is a 7th grader at Spring Ridge and has had nothing but problems since he started in 6th grade. There is a huge bullying problem at this school and unless the parents go demand something be done, nothing is. He finally spoke up and told his grades counsler about an incident in the lunchroom one day. But other than call us to "inform us of the situation", nothing has been done. The good kids are getting walked all over and are being discouraged. We can't wait to move.

My son attended Spring Ridge Middle School in his 6th grade year. Prior to his entrance to Spring Ridge Middle School, we homeschooled. During the first few months of his time at the school, he witnessed several incidents where one student was bullying another student who had challenges and was usually with a paraeducator. When my son reported the incidents to the assistant vice principal for his grade, he was told that he should not tattle. I called and spoke tot he administrator and was delivered the same message. I told my son he had a responsibility to intervene and help those who were unable to help themselves. However, by the end of the year, my son came home to tell me about a fight he witnessed at school. When asked if the teachers or students broke it up, he responded telling me that there were no teachers present and that no one got involved, not even himself. I feel that the school was responsible for my child learning to not get involved when he sees something happening that is wrong. I met with the principal to report what I felt was wrong and immediately pulled him out of school. I hear that the "tattletelling" response is a frequent esponse from the admin.

This school is okay. People say it's bad but I thought it was fine. I was in the STEM academy there. I chose the art class and it was fun. The school lunch there wasn't so great, because it is school lunch. I think if the staff could prevent people from bullying each other then this would be a better school. It's not that great, but get put in the honors classes and you'll be with the better people.

VERY unhappy with this school they do very little to stop bullying. It is a big problem. Some teachers have little control over their classes. The bad kids make it impossible to hear and pay attention! There are tons of good programs but the BAD kids keep the good kids out. There are fights EVERYDAY. And there is a HUGE racial problem. A HUGE THEFT problem which the school does NOTHING about!!!! And parents are just supposed to take it. They don't want to hear from us or our kids.

THIS SCHOOL IS HORRIBLE. Everyone is compared to the STEM students. The STEM is considered a school itself. The food is NASTY. Im in 8th grade this year and QUITE glad that im leaving. In fact im rejocing. The only good thing about the end of the year i the 8th grade dance and Kings Dominion. This school is ghetto.

I think its dissapointing that the teachers all hate the STEM kids. Teachers are jealous of u. I am personally a STEM student and i hate having teachers calling me out for being STEM. If you are not STEM, the teachers don't hate you. My STEM teachers like you. The teachers and students are biased against STEM, but other than that Spring Ridge is a pretty good school.

I am going to the 8th grade. There is alot of ups and downs about this school. First, it is pretty small compared to the other middle school In SMC. The locker rooms could be better, and so could the bathrooms. Some of the teachers are horrible. But others actually work with you and help you. Some teachers are really strict but help you learn alot (Mr sayers). The other students are very fun and good, but others are also ignorant and immature making SRMS Look bad.The AP's are alright. Im not really liking the new principal. This school has alot of room for improvement, but its alright so far.
