This school is such a gem. The staff engage with the students and get to know every one of them. My son loves it and so do we as parents.

We moved to the area in late 2017 and our child began attending White Marsh as a 4th grader. White Marsh was an excellent experience for her during her two years. The staff we encountered regularly were professional, kind, and hard-working. The lessons taught and homework provided were reasonable and meeting curricular standards. The 5th grade teacher won ‘teacher-of-the-year’ for the school district, which was well-deserved given the amount of time and effort she put into her craft. We felt our child soared and are grateful for such a positive experience.

10/10. My son has attended White Marsh since Kindergarten. We have always been treated with kindness and respect. My son had behavior issues for a time and I felt like the whole school came together to help us resolve them. White Marsh offers a true sense of community and belonging.

Homework is minimal is most classrooms. The homework that is sent home is meaningful and not mindless busy work.

The guidance counselor is fantastic and provides regular resources and instruction for the kids.

Over zealous in the homework department. Beyond stupid.

Posted: September 26, 2020

The teacher NEVER showed up for the meetings, and changed the students classwork without parental knowledge. Considered sueing.

Posted: September 26, 2020

More worried about the money than the student.

Posted: September 26, 2020

Isolated child from rest of class, and give child coloring sheets. Told the child he wasn't smart enough to do the same course work as the rest of the class. Considering sueing.

The staff are the bullies. It is insane.

Absolutely horrible. Pulled our children from the school and now homeschool.

We just transferred to this school and they have gone the extra mile to welcome my kids. Both my boys are behind in reading, One of my kids has Adhd. I had to fight & debate with their old school to get extra help only to be told no. WMES is totally different, they jumped at the chane to help my kids. I have seen a lot of improvement. The staff is super accommodating, welcoming and hepful. Communication with the teachers is superb.

WMES is the best kept secret in St. Mary's County. What a wonderful school -administration, staff, students and parents. I have been in many of the county schools and nowhere have I found a better working and learning environment. This staff is a team highly committed to the students, with high expectations, professionalism and expertise. I love it here.

What a WONDERFUL school!!! My husband and I have been absolutely thrilled with this school for our child. We would call this St. Mary's County's best kept little secret. It's a community school with caring, warm, friendly, encouraging staff, administration and teachers. We are encouraged, invited and thrilled to be involved in ALL aspects of the school from volunteering, aiding in the classrooms, PTA, and assisting with special events. We are so glad that we found this wonderful, small school, and would move mountains to be able to keep our child at this wonderful school!

At one time, this was a terrific school. White Marsh was a family and community building and inclusiveness were highly held goals. Under Mrs. Flowers watch, fundraising and standardized test scores seems to be the primary goals. Parent involvement is met with resistance unless you are writing a check. The teachers are wonderful, but I wonder how long before they go to other schools where they are valued more.
