Tilghman Elementary School packs big school resources in a small package. The school has excellent and dedicated teaching staff augmented by strong community volunteer program that assists in areas such as tutoring, music and art. The teacher to student ratio is excellent so the strengths and weaknesses of each child are well known and the test scores, which are well above state average, reflect it. A real gem in the public school system.

The kids celebrated an anti-bullying "Tilghman Unity Day" with a theme of "When we stand together, no one stands aloneĀ. All the kids in the school participated in unity games. My son was in Kindergarten and couldn't stop talking about his new 5th grade buddy that helped him in all the games. At drop off I often see older students holding doors for the younger kids, it is really nice to see the level of kindness that is demonstrated throughout this school.

All the teachers rave about the leadership of the principal. The staff is so unified, up beat, and you can tell they love to work there.

The classroom sizes are small and offers a lot of one on one with students. Plus many of our teachers are award winning teachers and go above and beyond to work with each student individually.
